- IN TODAY'S VIDEO I VISIT WEST CORNWALL GOLF CLUB, AND TO JASON BROADWAY'S PRO SHOP WHERE THE FOOTJOY GOLF SHOE FITTING SERVICE HAD SET UP A SPECIAL CUSTOM FITTING DAY.
IT WASN'T LONG AGO THAT HAVING GOLF SHOES CUSTOM FITTED WAS SOMETHING THAT ONLY PROFESSIONALS HAD DONE, BUT NOW ITS AVAILABLE FOR EVERYONE.
I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS BOTH INTERESTING AND A REAL EYE OPENER FOR ME AS I SOON REALISED THAT I HAD NO REAL IDEA WHAT MY CORRECT SHOE SIZE WAS... AND NOR DO MANY OTHER PEOPLE...
HI THERE. MY NAME IS JOHN RO OGDEN, BUT OGGIE WILL DO...
I am a newbie golfer, 51 Years old and lets say, hmm a BIG lad... But that doesn't stop me, I have a passion for the sport and although I have lots to learn I want to prove to people that Golf can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age, size, shape or experience.
BIG OGGIE GOLF is my new channel dedicated to ALL golfers.
We can't all be professional or scratch standard and many of us will never get close, but we can still have FUN.
So there will be regular Vlogs, Product reviews and Golf Course reviews from around the UK as well as Worldwide.
We will meet many golfers and golf fans along the way and I hope you will get to see things a little differently from the usual Golf RUclips Channels out there.
There will also be lots of fun to be had and once the channel is established regular Competitions for Channel subscribers to take part in.
Golf sometimes gets a bad press and whilst occasionally that might be justified I hope to show it as not quite as stuffy and stereotyped as one would imagine.
There will also be my thoughts on what makes golf seem so stressful for people just starting out, and I will be looking at ways of making that all important first step a little easier.

I used to work in golf retail years ago and FJ advocated shoe fitting way back then. Love how they are really pushing the concept now coz is so important. And it's eye opening to what we think we should wear n what we actually need to wear.
What model did you go with?
+The Grumpy Golfa hi there Grumpy. I was amazed at how much time and effort the fitter put in to give me that perfect fit. And it wasn't just me as I saw four other people also get a fitting whilst I was at the club and each person was highly delighted. I wanted spikeless shoes so went for the ProSL
Wow I got educated about socks, lol I had no real idea that they do a purpose sock for golf that is great hey
+Brian Debert Golf I have to say Brian that the whole fitting really opened my eyes about what is readily available now for golfers. Technology is a wonderful thing and can be used in so many ways, even socks... I couldn't believe how comfortable the socks were and will be buying some today actually when I pop back to the pro shop.
I know they are traditional but I don't like those multi coloured ones at all. The blue is better than the red but I'm glad you've got your trainer type. Xxx
Kelly Ogden I think that there are so many styles out there nowadays. However I have always been brought up as a sporty person so I have to admit to preferring the more casual sporting styles. I did actually many years ago win a competition to have a pair of hand made golf shoes. (Just a shame that at the time I never managed to afford to play properly) The style was very similar to these I am trying on, so yes this style has been going for many many years.

I love footjoys quality products but not sure I'd get a fitting unless I had odd shaped feet, it's not that serious
I love Justin Thomas' classic custom dryjoys although I have more of a sporty style like the new pro sl
Ralph Lauren clothes and £240 shoes are of my budget
I think my footjoys are to big I'm getting the cracking, perhaps I should get fit
Cornwall1888 hi there my friend. I have also ordered the ProSL as I too prefer the more sporty style. Honestly if you get a chance to get fitted go and do it. The vast majority of golfers have no idea what the right size shoe is for them. It was a real eye opener for me to find my true size was way off of what I assumed it would be. I actually had to wait for about an hour after I filmed this to do another video in the same afternoon and realised that I was still wearing the test shoes. I actually forgot I had them on, such was the comfortable fitting.
