Calico cats are awesome. I was very fortunate to share 21 years with mine, and even though she passed away more than a year ago, I still talk to her several times every day, and I give her fresh flowers every day too. I am grateful for every day we spent together.
My sweet sweet calico girl gave me so much love, as I did her. After I had surgeries, she cuddled up to me, only leaving to eat or use the box. She went over the rainbow bridge several months ago. I still have so many days that I shed tears. I talk to her quite a bit. Don’t know how I’ll recover from the next surgery without her. I love you, Moochie.❤️
I brought an abandoned calico kitten home, she was so weak and thin but she was fighting for her life, she would try to meow at people near her, but everyone didn't want her, then she looked at me and showed me her belly, my heart instantly dropped and I couldn't leave her to starve to death, it's been a lot of work nursing her back to health but today she learned to use her potty box on her own and she played for the first time, she's definitely a gift.
Yes, they are a gift! I brought in a stray calico kitten who weighed 1 pound. She was crying loudly against my window during the rain. Now she’s happy and healthy 😊
Our new kitten Kyo is a male Calico. I didn’t realize it was rare to have a male calico. He is honestly the sweetest and already comes when I call his name.
Only 1 in 3000 calicos are male. It's because you need two x chromosomes to get a calico so the only way you can get a male calico is with XXY chromosomes.
During my childhood my family adopted a stray Calico. TC (for Tri-Colored) was the perfect cat, a skilled mouser who protected her home from vermin, while being the most affectionate and wise cat. TC was with us for 17 years, and her life before she showed - up as a house-trained, spayed adult cat was a mystery to our family. At the end of her life, our vet X-rayed her and found shotgun pellets beneath her skin. This explained why she would flinch when petted on her back, but she would not shy away from being a thoroughly affectionate cat. She showed-up in 1964, and was with us until 1981.
Calico cats are definitely unique, I just adopted a calico four months ago and can already see the intensely unique personality in her. However mine is different from Maya in that she eats absolutely everything. She's quite petite too, hyper, in her own world and very polite about being cuddled and carried. She's also one of the most intelligent cats I've had.
All calicos are different and totally unique! That's what makes them great. Your baby sounds like a little spitfire! I'm sure you'll have a ton of fun with her.
our Calico Cat "Lucy" was a rescue. Had her since 2017 and we had to gave her up in 2020 as she could get along with our other cat. Hardest thing we had to do! But she when to a great family, a couple that loves animals. This year she ran away (2025). She was gone for 5 weeks, thought she was gone for good. But one evening saw her run across the street. I called her and she went into hiding. I can see her from a distance but stay in the area. After an hour or so, she came closer and I was able to pick her up. I was shaking with happiness as they united together.
I found my calico kitten last month! She was a stray crying loudly against my bedroom window in the rain. She was 1 pound, scared, and had tons of fleas! We immediately bathed her removed the fleas and fed her. She ate like no tomorrow! Now she is happy and healthy 😊. She always stares at me and purs. She has a personality that’s not like my Tabbies or British Shorthair. Very hyper, independent, and spunky. That night I found her I was watching a a cat story about how the lady’s cat “chose” her. I wanted a cat to choose me so I guessed I got what I wanted 😭😭😭❤️
I just picked up my calico kitten 3 weeks ago and she comes everywhere with me. Everyone that passes by us stops and has to say hello and give her a pat. She is a real peoples cat and is loving her new home and attention 🤣
I have 2 calicos. One is traditional…. White, black, orange and tan… but I also have a long haired calico.. she creamy looking light grey, orange and one eye has white fur and other grey… she has the prettiest green eyes
Calico cats are an AOG (act of God) version. My grandparents had a farm. When my mom was a little girl, my grandmother told her that Calico cats were the last variety of cats created by God on Saturday night before the Sabbath. He was finishing up his work of creating the world as we know it and noticed that he had enough cat material leftover to create one more version of cat, that is why the calico has three colors. I always thought that was a charming story to explain to a young girl regarding the strange color scheme of her kitten.
My gentle calico cat had her first litter of kittens , a white boy with an orange head and tail and a beautiful calico female. She is a long hair while her mum and brother are domestic shorthairs, she has an orange face, an orange tail, and an orange tabby leg, white paws with horizontal stripes on her legs, she is basically a tabby cat with one stripe orange, one stripe gray, all her white is in her tuxiedo, her paws and the hair in her ears. She is very fiesty but loving, she wakes me up at 5 am for cuddles
My calico Millie came into my life and pretty much became the center of the universe. If we're not giving her attention she just screams. If you're where she can reach you she will be in your face. I took my black and white cat out one day (he's harness trained and likes walks) and I could hear her just screaming at us from the window 😂 I had to go back inside and give her treats to make her hush up
I very much appreciate your thoughtful video about calicos. Your cat is gorgeous and I love how affecionate you are with her. Calicos definitely do have a personality unto themselves. Some of my observation of them throughout the years are that they're more independent than other cats; they're quite smart; they're very affectionate with the people they love; they let you know what they want(!); and they can act both hot and cold towards the other cats in the family. I love their quirky personalities and I also love their coloring because you'll never see two that are exactly alike. My very first cat was a long-haired dilute calico I named Sugar Puff. She lived for 19 yrs and was (and still is) the Love of My Life. She was stunningly gorgeous and everyone loved her....my sisters, my parents, our relatives and even our neighbors. But I was 'her person' and she would always seek me out. Since Sugar Puff I have always had calicos and can't imagine not having one!
Thank you for your kind words! Maya is definitely a special little kitty. She's for sure our most difficult cat! She is moody, and as you said "hot and cold" but also so so loving! She adores to get right up in our faces and purrs like crazy. We love her!
We also own a Calico Cat. We found it in the street during a heavy rain. We picked her up and take care of her. I do believe that calicos are very picky eaters haha! Other than that they are quite attention seeker too. Thats why they love to cuddle with us when we seat next to her. Sometimes she goes to our bed and sleeps just below our feet. Calicos are definitely great breed of cats.
My cat is a Domestic Hair Cali w some bit of Torti) she's called this bc there's so much white upon her) white sox, white chest etc. Pumpkin,my cat,is very intelligent female adopted at age 2- now we are aging gracefully together" Her last checkup age 14 was good health, ! Except normal old age cat cat issues" but I'm saying nothing out of the ordinary. She's very quirky, She demands interestingly I've a pillow from the UK well my lil Queen will sit back there ....not meowing but I peep at her she's got a beautiful body alinement sit up like she owns our home...I'm her housekeeper. That's true! Then most mornings she cuddles on my tummy 2 hrs! A cuddler Helped me remember important things my cat is very ritualistic
I just adopted a dilute calico a week ago. I am amazed at how fast she adapted to her new home....looks for belly rubs and sleeps on the bed already. There is not an aggressive bone in her body. Im a fan of calicos!
@@-g.k.4389 All cats are different and your best course of action is to give her time and the space to get to know her new environment and to gain trust in you. I had a beautiful calico female, very affectionate, who sadly passed away 2 yrs ago ....Thanks for the technical info. temperamentally abit like a male ginger & white cat that i had years ago.
We rescued one and adopted another in a 1 month expand.. best friends we could had.. one owns the second floor and the little one the first floor. They share the back yard and the big one likes to sit in the front porch and look the world goes by ..
I have a rascue Calico cat as well. She looks spot on like a Turkish Van. She's mostly white with her tail orange with a tint of dark color. Half of her top head is orange and the other is black-ish. She even has that orange spot between her shoulders from Turkish vans. But I know she's not pure breed at least. Her mother was half white and half grey tabby and her father was ginger (half white and half orange). She's an amazing cat, she's been with me for the past 4 years and I love her to bits. She's very intelligent and, like you guys said, very moody 😂. Sometimes she'll follow me around meowing for attention and other times she moves away if I'm trying to pet her. She's also very healthy, never had any health issue so far. I forgot to mention that she's also very fluffy ❤️. And quite big 😂, she's bigger than my male cat.
@@MomoSiamese I'm sure Maya is living her best life with you guys. Is she vocal as well? My fluff is very talkative, sometimes I think she's learned a few phrases and knows what I'm telling her, especially when I say "Do you know how much I love you?", she'll meow something back and then shove her head under my arm. ❤️
I have on named Cathy she recently passed away and I already miss her. She has a really beautiful coat and has blue eyes she is a cat from the Philippines……
I and my husband have 2 calico cats. They both are so beautiful, lovely and affectionate! They are very smart too. Initially, we didn't know calicos are female and ended up naming them as Felix and Marco. Later we realized they are female but the names pretty much stayed. Felix became Feli but Marco still says as Marco. We also call her Marconi. :) Oh yes, they are very very sassy and independent!!! They clearly know we fall for every single drama they put! Yes, they are picky too!! When they were kittens, they were so difficult on us as they were too adamant and unfriendly. But now they have grown up to adorable cats. But still drama queens!!! This video is on point!
Sounds like your house is full of fun 😉 I love that the names stuck. We've heard a lot of stories of people mistaking the gender of their cats at first. It's pretty common 😅
Our calico cat Kitty is so affectionate, very domineering and cheeky! She loves to be cuddled and comes right up into our faces and stuffs her face into our necks and under our chins. She also loves belly rubs which she demands from my husband! . She always chirrups and trills every time we rub her and is talkative. She is a real hunter too, often bringing us mice and the occasional bird. At night she lies on top of us in bed or beside us. She’s a character!
I know Momo is the start of the show but I like how you do features on all your pets . You folks once said that Maya was allergic to life . Do you think that is a trait of all Calicos . ? As always ... KEEP ROCKING the channel !!!!
😂 Well... The others kept popping up in our videos and people asked to see more of them. We're more than happy to oblige! I don't think Maya's allergies are linked to her being a Calico. I think it may just be a genetic weakness or something like that because she's a rescue (we really don't know her background).
😱 I think you may be our first Japanese followers we've talked to! Japan is my dream destination! I absolutely adore the culture, history and look of it. Really hope to be able to visit some day. Welcome to our little family!
I have a calico cat named Banjo, she’s really weird so we have her a weird name. It was a joke at first, but it stuck with her personality so we had no choice! She’s very chatty and licks my wall a lot. Her personality is very unique but I wouldn’t give her up for the world!! She has an iconic black splotch on her nose which makes her so cute :3
Have a calico,.. most different cat I’ve ever had..and yes a VERY strong personality..wants to play day and night..has very strange habits..unlike any other cat I’ve ever had..for one she never walks just runs from place to place…moves like a rabbit ,..yes that quick, stubborn…completely unpredictable,..unlike other cats I’ve had to some degree you know what they are going to do..not with this little calico,..
I have a puspin calico cat its 4 years old and it has 5 kittens it aslo has a mini calico and a mini orange cat the father is ginger and ginger is a persian cat❤
I recently took in a *MALE Calico cat who was a stray. They say Calico's bring luck, and I believe this may be true. Two days ago he scratched me and bit me enough that both bleed pretty good, BUT neither the scratch or the punctures became infected, so they are lucky. btw- he was mellowed and has not bit or clawed me for two full days. I named him Parsley. *only around 1 in 3,000 are males and they are generally sterile
my calico is a pride, she will never have raw food, yeah her upset moan is painful, they are lovely , she gave 4 beautiful babies,, she got me luck, yes
My calico is a pain. I have a small quilt for my lap. When Mary Shelley sees the quilt go on my lap, she insists that she is on my lap whether I want her there or not. And she is like a furry anchor. Maybe that is part of the Japanese fisherman aspect of her. She likes boxes a lot. If you know about world famous Maru, a Scottish fold without the flat ears, he is a box addict. Shelley, not quite that bad. My kitty was a rescue, when my hubby said no more dogs. So here we are with a cat who tells you what you are supposed to do for her when she wants you to do it.
Goodness that first part is so much like our Maya! If I just sit down at my desk, she's on my lap. No choice on my part. It's both really sweet and really annoying at times 😅
Does Momo know he has competition from a common, orange cat named Alvi? Alvi is Dutch. Hmm, Holland ... South Africa - maybe they're cousins? Anyway, tell Mo hi!
My 1 year old Nina, is very unusual! Hates canned food, but will eat anything she hunts down. She's moody just like you describe. Seems overly sensitive to sounds. She's very sensitive to the TV. She will sit on our driveway, and bullys little dogs on a leash when they walk by, and if i pet someones dog, she puffs up with her fur standing straight up, back arched and eyes dilated. She tries to bring what she catches back alive to show you, then eats it whole right in front of you...like shes trying to prove to you that she caught it and didn't just find it dead. She gets really upset if you refuse to pet her. She's always in this mode like she should be killing things like it's her job, and that's good because she's killed 2 scorpions in the house that could have stung me. Search "Tama the calico in japan that saved a train route". Very cool!
I have a 3 1/2 year old tortoiseshell calico I found across the street from me as a 2 month old kitten, crying in the bushes. She still has an odd behavior that I've never had in any other cat--to this day she does not like to be picked up and screams and desperately tries to get down, but once down she does not run away. So I can do everything with her except pick her up.
The reason most calicos are female is because the color gene is located on the x chromosome. Females have 2 x's, so one can be black and one orange. White is not really a color. The only way to get a male calico is if it has a genetic mutation,, instead of xy it has xxy chromosomes. Females are xx chromosomes.

I got the prettiest calico cat i named her (Pia) like miss universe pia Wurtzbach!
Plus Pumpkin used to really love to have her photos done, maybe when our weather gets warmer again???
Cat photoshoots are the best! Hubby is a photographer so we have millions of photos of our cats 😂
very funny video. totally.grrrr8 🐾 thank you.
My Gijas is such a cutie baby. I love my calico.
I have 12 week old calico cat& she is lovely. Already knows her name Pinky.
Very affectionate.
I just love her. Judy Moore
I have calicon cats 4 months and 5 months old..thy very cute
Calicos are very cute!
I love calicos! I have one! In Japan 🇯🇵 they are considered lucky! And yes we call them mikeneko or 3 colors. It’s meant for colors of the fur.
😱 I think you may be our first Japanese followers we've talked to! Japan is my dream destination! I absolutely adore the culture, history and look of it. Really hope to be able to visit some day. Welcome to our little family!
@@MomoSiamese thanks 🙏 ! Hope you can visit here after all the pandemic restrictions!
That's awesome! Maya definitely also has some very special character traits I've never had in any other cat before... Calicos are special I guess
Exactly! Maya is also completely different to our other cats. A little neurotic, intensely cuddly and so so weird ❤️ but we love her that way.
I have a puspin calico cat its 4 years old and it has 5 kittens it aslo has a mini calico and a mini orange cat the father is ginger and ginger is a persian cat❤
I had a Calico Cat as a child. She was beautiful. Our current cat is a calico mix. She’s such a sweet cat. She’s about to turn 16 years old.
We also has one called vlekkie.
I have a calico named Motley, 12 years old and calicos are not violent at all even when they are angry or mad at you
Maybe our Calico is broken... Maya can be a little snappy at times. She likes to bite when annoyed. Though she never breaks skin so it's not too bad.
Maya's the first calico cat I've seen that looks like my cat.
Twinsies 😉
I recently took in a *MALE Calico cat who was a stray. They say Calico's bring luck, and I believe this may be true. Two days ago he scratched me and bit me enough that both bleed pretty good, BUT neither the scratch or the punctures became infected, so they are lucky. btw- he was mellowed and has not bit or clawed me for two full days. I named him Parsley. *only around 1 in 3,000 are males and they are generally sterile
this video has no dislike lmao
Because no one in their right mind dislikes a Calico!
my calico is a pride, she will never have raw food, yeah her upset moan is painful, they are lovely , she gave 4 beautiful babies,, she got me luck, yes
My calico, miki, looks exactly like this, just smaller and with thumbs haha
I have a calico cats Also,Her name is Mazey.❤❤❤
Btw, I’m sure you know that Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein.
Goodness that first part is so much like our Maya! If I just sit down at my desk, she's on my lap. No choice on my part. It's both really sweet and really annoying at times 😅
I'm allergic to cats but i REALLY want a calico. Much love from north America
That's too bad! Can't imagine my life without cats. Hi back from South Africa!
@@MomoSiamese thx:) i have a job with animals including cats. After i pet them i need to take a bath when I get home.
That sounds horrible... But thank you to still work with pets even though it makes you sick. That's truly amazing!
@@MomoSiamese thank you so much:)
I have a calico cat called Maya too! 😆
That's awesome! Give her a big hug from us!
I have a calico Sybi and she is very demanding about being petted and groomed, for such a small kitty she sure is loud
Maya isn’t loud but she is very demanding 😁 she will climb right into our faces for attention
I like seeing the other kitties highlighted. It's important for princes to be made aware that " charwomen " are just as valid as temple cats!
Agreed!
Does Momo know he has competition from a common, orange cat named Alvi? Alvi is Dutch. Hmm, Holland ... South Africa - maybe they're cousins? Anyway, tell Mo hi!
I HAVE 3 OF THEM
Your life must be pretty crazy! 😉
I just realised all tigers are calico cats! 😃
I have a calico baby girl❤️❤️
I have a calaco cat like 3 years now
Calicos are amazing 😍
Makes sense mine was born as the only calico her mom was blck
I have a colico cat name tilki
One of my friends mamacats was giving birth 4 Calico kittens for more than 40 years of having cats. Now, she is looking a buyer.
Calicos are amazing! I'm sure she will find good homes for all the little ones!
Very cool!
Wow that's crazy. Sounds to me like she might have some kind of underlying issue. Hopefully not though.
I have a calico cat name Sushi.
We got our calico cat for free because we say her in our front yard
I have a 3 1/2 year old tortoiseshell calico I found across the street from me as a 2 month old kitten, crying in the bushes. She still has an odd behavior that I've never had in any other cat--to this day she does not like to be picked up and screams and desperately tries to get down, but once down she does not run away. So I can do everything with her except pick her up.
Momo is like that too. He really dislikes being picked up but once put down, he curls against our legs and demands attention 😊
What mom challenge???
My calico definitely has an attitude at times, but sh'es a love bug too! ruclips.net/video/hmlIW8m93H0/видео.html
One outta 10,000 male is fertility calico
My calico is a little bit mean
So is our Maya.... But it makes her all the more special to us.
And me brother saw the calaco cat in the forest so me orange cat acepted her in the family when me orange cat died me cat was really really sad
