Folks!! Share this video with people!! Our society is so messed up right now...our priorities have become clouded and we're entering into a world where information is at our fingertips but we're all too busy "playing" to learn how to feed ourselves!!! What is wrong with us!!! Share share share!!! We need to think about these things and start a conversation!!
Josh - I was really disappointed when you posted videos a couple years ago asking people to get vaccinated. I’m so glad to see your back to your roots and pushing independence!! Thank you brother! Been watching for years.
Thing that amazes me is people can’t see the war we are in Good Vs evil they try keep the people end fear so they can many them be a puppet they try wake the folks up about children Trafficking and organ harvesting and sexy trafficking now there getting in folks pockets maybe they wake-up it sad have asleep folk are in the USA other country are laughing at us for being puppets .God Bless
I agree but I can't grow , I live in a apartment and they want no garden . Also I am sick . But I do not go out to eat anymore , not healthy . A larder ,a pantry , and root cellar went by the waste side with big family room Entertainment centers . We are entertained to death . I have prepped some food .
We live on 27 acres and it keeps us alive. The larder is packed, the woodpile is large and the coop is productive. I'm 65 years old and wake up everyday with a long list of to-do. It's a great life!
One of the rare times I actually stop working and watch a full video, but this is Spot on! Absolutely SPOT ON! I can not wait to get my little farm up and running and put all of this into practice! Exceptionally good video!
I was laughing so hard! You are so right. The part about "Idiocracy" was spot on. Me and my brother talk about this all the time, for several years now. With YT, everyone should know how to cook, and take care of basic needs. It is so sad to see people get worked up about stuff that has no meaning in life. (stuff you see on TV or other similar media) My grandfather (lifetime tobacco farmer) used to tell me "what's the use in worrying about things you have no control over". This was mostly in reference to my comments about something I saw on TV. He lived to be a hundred years old, so there may be something to that "worrying about things you have no control over." Great video!
Wow! I do believe this is your best video ever Josh! I agree 100% with everything you said, thank you so much for sharing this. And you are right, it all boils down to bad parenting. My wife and I are doing our best to teach our children to be self-sufficient and good stewards.
People are not expecting responsibility for there own existence. It’s somebody else’s responsibility!! The best analogy I ever heard was you have a helping hand at the end of each arm. So true it hurts.
I agree completely. I grew up in a house where we stored and made everything we could. I got a freeze dryer and wanted to add it to our preserving methods. I also got books on Jadam organic fertilizer and pest control. So far, it seems like a great method.I actually enjoy it when you do talks like this .
Wow…I wish I have met you a long time ago Josh period. I, myself, have said the most similar things you said to many of my friend and some family. It’s unreal out there. There’s a lack of educating each other in these days. I like to say there’s some are willing to learn and the technology itself is eating human being brains up. I hope for the best to the majority of people who have been taught how to live and learn what Mother Nature can do for us and hope they absorb it and learn it and use it. I’m with you 100% Josh.👍🏼
Love this one! It's right on the money. Parents have really failed and have become complete sheep and have taught their children to do the same. Every little shiny thing that comes out they have to have and it's sad. I'm not too smart but we did break loose from following the flock and enjoying our fruits in 2023 that look more like we are living in 1923. Blessings
Couldn't agree more. Getting old and slowing down but I still grow a garden and give a lot of food away. Sad that a lot of people can't even cook the vegetables that I give away at the church. I put a two or three year old deer in the freezer every year. Leave grandpa with big horns in the woods. But his grandkids are delicious.
Great message as usual! My grandfather thought me to work with my hands, operate heavy equipment, and be handy. But he was too old to teach me farm life. my parents haven't thought me anything they relied on the school system. Now moved to a homestead hoping to become a 1st generation farm. thanks for your videos!
Probably I'm sure. the best youtube video published. ever.. The basics we're talking about. are so true today in America.. It is so sad. that people have no common sense anymore.!
👏👏Yes! Thank You for saying this!👏👏 Just the other day I was asked if I had watched the news? I said "I quit watching TV over 5 years ago when I realized there's nothing but doom and gloom." I would rather be outside in my garden, tending to my animals and being productive!" My grandparents taught me at a young age that if I don't put in the work then I don't get to eat or drink anything. If I want something then I need to work for it. I raised my children the same way. Those that expect everything to be handed to them have a rude awakening coming. It's been shown time and time again with natural disasters that everyone will have to depend on themselves and each other because the powers that be will not and have not been there to help the little guy. About 12 weeks ago a horrible storm came through our small town knocking down trees, knocking out the power. When I went to town to help a friend cleanup a downed tree what I saw was amazing. It wasn't the city or the government. It was farmers driving their tractors to town, moving trees out of the roads, off of people's driveways and clearing the way for the city and emergency services to function. Do you think for one minute that the city manager much less the mayor compensated those farmers with gasoline for their tractors to clean up the streets so everyone could move about the town? Here it is 12 weeks later, the city manager says " it's going to take several weeks if not months to remove all of the debris from the storm!" They're the ones that told people stack the debri by the street and we're going to haul it off. Every generation has had a bad storms that knock tree's down, and take down the power poles. It use to be everyone chipped in to help with cleaning up. I understand not everyone has the means to remove debri, but there's been several people offering to remove the debris without payment to help others out. I haven't been more proud of my local community when I saw people offering up food, water, and a place to charge phones than the day of the storm. It was the right thing to do. If everyone quit worrying about being offended and just got along, and worked together things would be so much better. Thank You again for making this video. I just finished delivering 50 paper sacks full of fresh vegetables I grew in the garden to my mom's apartment complex. Everyone that lives there is elderly or disabled. At the end of every month I try to take something to them because I know that they're on a fixed income and are waiting on their next paycheck. So get out there and do something nice for someone. Much Love from our family to your family 💞
Thank you. What you said reminded me of my father, who grew up in a rural small farm town in Illinois during the Depresseion. He was a WWII Veteran. He would be 101 years old if he were still alive. You remind me of my Dad. He taught us by his actions. He and his brother owned an empty lot in the city and grew organic produce using perma pasture techniques long before its current popularity. Lifeskills are lacking in today's youth. I really respect what you are doing. My hope is that the American Farmer will not be lost to history but continue on in our youth. God bless you and your family.
I try to catch most of your videos and several times I think you've lost your mind but this one is spot on, couldn't agree with you more, preach it brother.
I agree with you Josh; you’re spot on. You mentioned family and how your parents taught you things about life. We have done our best to destroy the family unit and that’s lead to a lot of our problems. I understand this is totally my opinion.
Thanks for the video Josh. You are absolutely right. We need to get back to simple principles of life; feeding ourselves, saving, gardening, and simply relying on ourselves and no one else. Yes! Yes! And Yes!
I started following your channel about three years ago, when I was seeking information on raising and processing broilers. Though I can afford to buy organic chicken in the grocery store, I choose to raise my own for peace of mind, and for a full freezer. I also have started keeping laying hens and have had two seasons of feeder pigs. I don’t have room for cows, so go half in with my sister on a cow each year. Within the last two years, I have grown a garden and started canning. You were my first inspiration to become food independent, and though it wears me out, I love it! Also, you have to spank your children to help teach them right from wrong and keep them from ruling you! I wish I could quit my job a be a full-time farmer, like you!
aweseom! And the sense of gratitude and pride that you felt after completing such a project was so rewarding! Much more rewarding than paying someone to do it....am I right? I love doing things myself....it's much more rewarding.....but remember....we can't eat a deck and painting is great....it preserves our home for years to come....but we can't survive on it! You are right! Some of us still understand hard work....you are one in 100,000!!
Hey Josh, friend. A lot of people fall into that. They work hard at work (you, know to their credit, right), then come home and do the minimal for themselves. Have beers, take it easy, watch movies, catch up on news, your favorite YT channels etc... My Dad always told me everyone wants to 'take it easy'. I'm guilty of this! You have bit of bank savings, but your gutters could plant tomatoes in! LOL
yep....we all need down time brother....that's for sure. However taking the time to learn how to grow things, taking care of our home, working smart...and hard and not being above any task is the take home message here. Some folks litterally will not take the time to learn life skills. To me that's not only ignorant...it's just pure stupidity...and when times get tough and things get rough...they simply roll over and wait for someone else to take care of them. Family, community, hard work, intelligence, life skills and preparedness are severely lacking in this world.....how foolish of any man to buy a 12 pk of beer and not put a dime in his retirement fund? Imagine all the waste in our world.....America wastes enough food to feed most nations! We need change, sustainability and education
Good vid:] I have been growing my own food and preparing my meals for some years now. Yet still I have been struggling with my dependence on the grocery stores and fast food joints. I took some sunfish out the pond for my fish tank and started realizing that if you are controlling the food of that animal it is now your slave or at least is the first step to domestication. Turns out this can contribute to traits that include tameness, docility, reduced brain size, reduced body mass and smaller teeth. Also some other major effects to our body and mind. I got sad when I came to this conclusion and now owe it to myself to undue some of my domesticated traits. I believe just feeding yourself is a great start:]
Thanks Josh! I agree wholeheartedly. As someone who works 40+ hours per week in a professional capacity, would be interested in ways in which my family could become more self sufficient.
we live in a world of information at our fingertips....watch and learn and read up my friend...put it into practice....watch as your family joins you...or if they're lazy...hear them complain and whine and want to go lay out by the pool.....one of the biggest barriers to self sufficiency is our spoiled brat way of living right now...heck ..it's alot easier to go through the chic filet drive through than it is to raise a chicken...that's why most won't do it....but when and if we need to feed ourselves, what's gonna happen?
Good morning Josh. I’m late to this video. But like always I learned something! Thank you for taking your time and teaching, I personally never even heard of the word “larder” let alone know what it ment!
Josh I couldn’t agree with you more I was raised on the same values that you were by my parents my parents always told me to always have in the bank a year salary just in case great video and a great point that you bring up God bless you and I love watching your videos and I hope Mr. stony Ridge is doing better
My wife and I were actually talking about something similar this morning while sitting on the porch drinking our morning coffee and watching the chickens do their thing. We have as a society made everything useful like the trades somehow bad and instead pushed everyone to go to college to get a degree so they can sit in an office and manipulate electricity represented by 1's and 0's in a computer. I've made the observation about Idiocracy multiple times as well as The Hunger Games, I really feel like our society is moving more in those directions. I'm on 18 acres in Western North Carolina, it's raw land that my wife and I have been working to clean, clear and build a house on. We raise chickens, have a garden, preserve food, etc. Not as far along with having a full winters/springs worth of food stored away yet but we are getting there. We support a local farmer with a meat CSA for pork and beef since our property is still mostly woods with no established pasture. We know what hard work is but I agree, a whole lot of people have no clue. Speaking of finances, unfortunately neither my wife or I had parents that taught any of that to us. I'm in my late 30's now and luckily have figured it out but I sure floundered around for a long time after moving out on my own. I was at least lucky enough to have had a father who taught me how to build things, fix things, use my hands, etc. As a result, I can actually build a house, do plumbing, do electrical, etc. He taught me how to catch and prepare fish, etc. When a piece of equipment fails I can get my hands dirty and fix it. These are the kinds of skills more young people need to be taught, even if they never intend to be a plumber or electrician or mechanic. We need people to have at least a foundational understanding of how the important aspects of their world works. Unfortunately though, we seem to have decided as a society that real things of value are beneath us and as a result we are ending up with fewer and fewer people who know how to do any of that work.
I have worked hard all my life . From doing yard work when I was a kid to doing mine construction building everything above ground. Consisted from the footers to hanging steel at the top. It’s called Backbone!!! I hope this generation realizes that if you want something nice you have to go out and work for it.. I hope!!!!!
Raised my first steer and he just had his appointment with the butcher two weeks ago! He was a Brangus and a sweet boy. Growing your own meat is great. I'm hooked!
Josh, I live on 3.5 access out in the county (Limestone County, AL). I use just about every inch to grow food. We raise chickens, goats and rabbits. We eat all of them. I buy my beef from a local Rancher. Sometime we trade with him with our meat birds or meat rabbits. As with you, my parents strongly believed in spanking and teaching us (6 kids) how to take care of yourself without store bought items. Thank you foe sharing this extremely point on video!!!
Wow. Thanks Josh. I wish other content creators would share this message as well. It’s always doom and gloom. Just look around. Like you say the sky isn’t falling.
AMEN!!! Look at the comments already piling up on this video....blaming someone else for their jobs, their station in life....and how a man can't save money. I agree....a $25 hr wage earner shouldn't be living in a $450k house with a new truck and going out to eat every meal! We've forgotten about food, family and survival and it's all bout vacations, keeping up with the Jones and play time! Turn play time into family learning and gardening time...gather firewood....enjoy fellowship...that's the message here for sure
Wow, I never heard that about the money but I bet that’s what people do say today. When I was in school, they taught us that the things that humans absolutely need our food, water, and shelter. And we should all be able to provide that for ourselves, and not be dependent on somebody else to do it for us. If you’ve got a great job and you can buy an awesome shelter and food and water then that’s cool but if the supply chain breaks down, then you better be able to figure it out or you’re gonna die.
Nice one Josh. We are the only critters that pay to live on this planet. Other animals, fish whatever, hunt as groups, travel in groups and shelter together, but they don't pay for it. If they don't work as team they die! I grew up in the UK, my bother and I were taught gardening, we had our own little gardens. My daughters were born in the United Arab Emirates and we had a garden, we took them camping. We moved to New Zealand in 2015 and bought 40 acers way up in the North Island. This January we had a cyclone which devastated parts of the North Island. We were without power for only five days and our local shops ran short of food as roads were block or just gone. People were complaining about who's fault is was and what were they going to do? My god I could not believe that some could not go a week or less without going to the shops. Did not bother us. we have a water tank on the hill so when the power goes out and the pump cant work we have water. We have cupboards with food, we have freezers, generators, fuel stocks. We have chickens, ducks, sheep and cows, we could go for weeks without going to the store. We had an adult come stay with us and he had no idea how to set a fire in the wood stove! It's not just the states, it's global. Keep on Keepin on.
In a modern society, we have enough resources to specialize. The technology and systems we have in place today are so vastly more efficient than they were 200 years ago that everyone does not need to grow their own food and because of that not everyone will need to farm. A family used to be self sufficient, fed themselves and had very little left over each year. Now a farm can feed over 150 people.
Yes, you were very blessed to grow up in Utah. I had no say in growing up in a big city. Although I live in a good situation now, it took DECADES to make that happen. Please don't knock those who are still in transition through no fault of their own.
Thanks Josh. You are absolutely right. We don't know the basics of survival. My parents were immigrants to this country and not educated but they knew how to do all of these things. They did it with hard work and determination. They passed these on to us. My sister and brother were all hard working and very successful in their professions as was I. I resent that the government, federal or state, thinks they know better than I do. They don't know any better as witnessed by the sad state of affairs in the world. I am not in favor of having the government giving me a handout so they can control me. I resent losing my freedoms because someone else who thinks they no better are telling me how to think or act. Its all about fear and control. Just like the pandemic.
You are 100% correct, i truly believe in being Stern with your kids, show them there are consequences for their actions. If someone doesn't know how to fend for themselves, they better Start learning!!!
I built a larder using the space under the stairs at my old house years ago. I really need to build another. All those things you mention, except for the mud turtle part, I can do. I hunt and process the deer I get on my land, I've raised and processed my own beef and veal, I learned from you how to raise and process chickens, I fish and fillet what I catch, I held a lobstering license at one point as well. I can, I make jams and make everything from scratch. My neighborhood shares in the wealth. My neighbor has an amazing garden but no meat so I trade my meat for her veggies. All except for the fishing, I have learned on my own. - People are inherently lazy. I'm thankful and honored to know and learn from farmers and homesteaders.... some of the hardest-working people on the planet!
The issue with water shortages is depleting aquifers and overuse of fresh water sources. In Kansas (just one example), they're running into issues where some wells are no longer deep enough due to overuse of the water from the aquifer. They're too afraid to find ways to make do with the natural rainfall or cut back on irrigation; it's going to come back and hurt them.
bam!! But did you teach your children? And did they teach theirs....the problem is we're not passing on these life lessons....the next generation is loosing them to technology...but what happens when electronics fail and mechanical ability is the only answer? Tough question huh
Current generation here 👋 You are right on the money. Some of us are *well aware* of how f*d we are because of all the things we weren't being taught. Glad you were blessed with all the teachings that some of us are trying to recover after being lost for about 2 GENERATIONS. Some one has to know it all! So if you have "ground up homesteading in 5min with $0" we're all ears 😊 All sarcasm aside: The willingness is here, we are just overwhelmed and have ZERO clue where to start, and all our research sends us in zigzag patterns where nothing gets done aside from the blowing of a mental fuse. I just barely successfully germinated a few lemon seeds hoping to sprout trees, still stressed because I know we can't live off of lemons, but maybe trade them at best. Not everyone has LAND to raise animals and crops, the majority are in residential areas where we are restricted on livestock (especially any roosters😂), most don't even own their homes! Most rent appartments which ultimately costs more than paying a mortgage. We're too far into the game and too far in debt to drop everything and squable for land where our affordable $ range is desert. I'd love to make friends and arrangements with local farmers to learn and collaborate, but the majority are either owned by corporate meat industry or too busy to chat (understandable). Maybe you have a finance basics video? Seriously, our schools don't teach this stuff and they should! Home economics was a limited space elective when I was in middle school and it was not an option in highschool oddly enough.
Have you run across Dave Ramsey yet? He’s a good place to start. He’s pretty blunt but the advice is still solid. . Evaluate your career. Is your problem lack of income or overspending? If your job disappeared, what would be your plan B? A lot of university educated students (including myself) would be wise to look for how-where-when you could transition to an in demand trade. . As far as information, look up Curtis Stone and his urban farming videos. He’s up here in Canada in a climate with a read winter and expensive land. He found ways to market garden a living wage without owning much land via small land rental. Also read read read. Joel Salatin has been a big influence for us but there’s others out there.
I was strict with my kids. They prefered soft Mom after the divorce and a wildly expensive fight I lost them. Two out of three are weak and at 30+ still live off mommy. The good one like me is independent and wealthy with a great family. Soooo easy to lose what matters. I feel bad for my lost kids. I still push them, but PRIDE comes for achievement and they can't get there.
Hey Josh I just finished cutting and storing firewood for the long winter ahead, then I dug a few vegetables from my own garden for my lunch. Me and my dad and my brother also harvested a moose today as well. I agree with everything your saying %100! Anyone who doesn't possess those basic hunting/gathering self-sufficient skills is POOR beyond their own knowledge, I don't care if they're a millionaire! AND, they'll never take away my bang sticks! 😂 keep up the good work my friend. You are a role model for the whole world IMO!
Americans, just take it for granted that someone will feed us and take care of us. Maybe , maybe not. I'm not panicking , but I'm learning everything I can about growing and raising my own food. Am I a prepper?. Your darn right I am. This was your best video yet Josh.
I hear what you’re saying, and agree with you on so many levels, but some of us don’t have the means to buy land. I live in a 880 sq foot house with a small lot. I’m doing the best I can with what I have (garden, compost, canning, chest freezer, storing fuel and food in rotation, etc) but I can’t afford land! I would love to have some land to implement a bigger system, but I’m raising 4 children and have control of my finances, but at the end of they day I can’t afford a bigger place!
Loved the Inuit Tribal Leader that talked of 'modern' folks promises of development, education, modernization -- a 100 year plan for the village as the "quick buck". He explained how his people have been surviving the same way for 10,000 years, etc. Obviously they are doing something right -- no sheeple there (yet).
I spent most of my time watching and learning to cook from my mother and Grandmother. I attended FFA and ag classes in high school and even took Home Ec in Jr High. I do hunt and fish in my free time as well as forage for wild edibles. Wife is just the opposite.
WATER: it can't go anywhere so we will always have the same amount of water on the Earth & in the atmosphere. Whether you drink it, water your garden, use it for manufacturing or whatever, it always returns to the Earth.
amazingly enough....90% of people don't understand this concept. Look at the figures on how much water a cow drinks in it's lifetime and how folks have no concept that it comes in the front...and goes out the back lol..if not they'd be giant leather covered water bladders lol
Enjoy your channel and content. Going through videos. This video demanded a subscription to your channel by itself alone. 💯 Agree. Keep up the good work.
I can do all needed to feed myself and my wife. The reason the U.S. shifted from a predominately agrarian society to an industrial society during the industrial revolution was simple: people got tired of labor required on a farm for little gain and discovered their labor did have value. So fewer farmers and more industrial workers with money to buy food they need.
Speaking of learning, it’d be interesting to learn more about the science of maximizing the use of land. If there’s anything that concerns me, it’s that there’s a limited amount of land and some places are making mandates that cause starvation due to inefficient land use (see Sri Lanka for a fairly recent example).
Put the gov't in charge of anything and watch it fall! Mandates on land use and gov't control of everything is just another sheeple concept that's ruining our world brother
And yes me and my wife have enough food supply and water for at least six months we also chickens rise I also have enough ammunition to hunt and protect ourselves from any threats. God Bless us
The simple answer is yes people are JUST THAT STUPID. Loved your rant we feel frustrated by the same STUPID people who make the same STUPID mistakes time after time. That's one of the reasons we have chosen to take on homesteading at this stage in our lives. we totally believe that our lives will be better knowing that we can be very happy living off our land and building a future with our own two hands.
I think the lesson that children are missing in this world is HUMILITY.....everyone wants a gold star award for their efforts...not the product they produce. I'm sorry, but sometimes we fail....we have to learn from failures and grow as individuals
We totally agree, unfortunately that's just one of the problem we have created as a society. Honor, courage ,integrity are human trates we admire WHY? Because they are rare things that most folks don't possess. fix that and we truly will be making progress forward as humans.@@StoneyRidgeFarmer
Folks!! Share this video with people!! Our society is so messed up right now...our priorities have become clouded and we're entering into a world where information is at our fingertips but we're all too busy "playing" to learn how to feed ourselves!!! I agree but I can't grow , I live in a apartment and they want no garden .
Also I am sick .
But I do not go out to eat anymore , not healthy .
A larder ,a pantry , and root cellar went by the waste side with big family room
Entertainment centers . We are entertained to death .
I have prepped some food .
Well, Josh, I can’t say you’re wrong!
There are about eight billion opinions and many of them are terrible.
We live on 27 acres and it keeps us alive. The larder is packed, the woodpile is large and the coop is productive. I'm 65 years old and wake up everyday with a long list of to-do. It's a great life!
You are speaking to the Choir! Why do you think we all watch your videos? You are doing a great job! Best wishes.
One of the rare times I actually stop working and watch a full video, but this is Spot on! Absolutely SPOT ON! I can not wait to get my little farm up and running and put all of this into practice! Exceptionally good video!
We are Canadian and we work hard, blue collar, grow and put up our own food, it is so satisfying. We don't take $10k holidays.
I was laughing so hard! You are so right. The part about "Idiocracy" was spot on. Me and my brother talk about this all the time, for several years now. With YT, everyone should know how to cook, and take care of basic needs. It is so sad to see people get worked up about stuff that has no meaning in life.
The best video I've seen all year! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Very well put, your correct across the board, thanks for putting it out there 🇺🇲🇺🇲
Every word you said is true! Nuff said...👍

Preach it👏🏻 Fully agree w your thinking! Self sufficiency is our freedom!
Wise words Thanks for sharing and taking us along
THANK YOU. Thank you for using your platform to speak truth.
Josh, what was the startup cost for your farm? Could you make a video on land cost, infrastructure, etc? Thanks!
I don't watch TV Josh. I watch videos like yours, so I can learn something, and at the same time, just relax.
I try to catch most of your videos and several times I think you've lost your mind but this one is spot on, couldn't agree with you more, preach it brother.
lol.....I've not lots my mind.....these are my values and at times EVEN I"VE BEEN BLINDED BY MONEY!!!
I agree with you Josh; you’re spot on. You mentioned family and how your parents taught you things about life. We have done our best to destroy the family unit and that’s lead to a lot of our problems. I understand this is totally my opinion.
Josh, I was taught, many years ago, that the three essentials for Life are FOOD, Clothing & Shelter !! It's still True today !!
YES Born and raised on a farm and still Love it here in rual caswell county Mama taught me how to cook and look after myseft
AMEN!!!
Thanks for the video Josh. You are absolutely right. We need to get back to simple principles of life; feeding ourselves, saving, gardening, and simply relying on ourselves and no one else. Yes! Yes! And Yes!
Simple rules that made a great and prosperous nation.
That's awesome!! Shew....don't quit your job...I'm at this 80 hours a week! It's more than a handful my friend! But it's a labor of love!
My 83 year old mum says “give him 2 thumbs up”! Legend.
Totally agree with you
Just finished this week repainting my home and 4 weeks ago spent 2 weeks taking ym parents deck down and rebuilding it. Some of us still work
Thanks for the heads up what really matters. Those that survived the depression years practised these principles.
Love it Josh. Keep preaching! I appreciate all the wisdom you share with us everyday.
Absolutely agree with you. Thanks for the wake-up!
Love this. Wish you did this live so many more could hear this.
This was one of your best messages Stoney!
Good morning Josh.
I’m late to this video. But like always I learned something! Thank you for taking your time and teaching, I personally never even heard of the word “larder” let alone know what it ment!
That was the best common sense speech I have heard in a long time. Thank you so much!!!
Awesome rant! Love the message.
I am from the UK You are 100% right, The world all messed up.
Great to hear really great advice. Thanks for your videos.
Sheep are good to eat, we use to raise a lot of them but when the market crashed and we stopped getting so much rain they went away
I'm hooked!
Absolute truth . Clear message.
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Everyone has an opinion, many of the most vocal ones come from the people with the least education regrettably.
I was cooking at about six! My mom taught us how ! I learned everything on our dairy !😊
I AGREE WITH YOUR FOOD SECURITY. WE GROW ENOUGH TO TO FEED US FOR 2 YEARS WITH THE STORAGE WE HAVE.
Until they can't get that food to you
Amazing rant!! So useful teaching about real life. So, on point. Watching you from Africa, Kenya, the land of Athletics, Kipchoge
Excellent
One of your best videos. Please keep it up
100% correct on everything you said.
Amen brother what part of Utah I’m from tooele. Starting a new farm it’s maddening
I lived in Ogden area for about 10 years
You are 100% correct, i truly believe in being Stern with your kids, show them there are consequences for their actions. If someone doesn't know how to fend for themselves, they better Start learning!!!
Lord brother you have my same values I thank and pray the Lord Jesus Christ with Bless you
I built a larder using the space under the stairs at my old house years ago.
Well said we must be twins. I agree 100 % with every word. Thanks for your channel.
Great video!
Yeah, I found that to be a strange argument. Just because you’re blessed with an abundance doesn’t mean everywhere is.
My mother grew up during the Great Depression. She taught my sister and I the importance of budgeting, family, and not depending upon others.
bam!! But did you teach your children? And did they teach theirs....the problem is we're not passing on these life lessons....the next generation is loosing them to technology...but what happens when electronics fail and mechanical ability is the only answer? Tough question huh
Love this rant, good message Josh, every word is true...
Brother you bless us with your insight thank
Current generation here 👋
You are right on the money.
Some of us are *well aware* of how f*d we are because of all the things we weren't being taught.
Glad you were blessed with all the teachings that some of us are trying to recover after being lost for about 2 GENERATIONS. Some one has to know it all!
So if you have "ground up homesteading in 5min with $0" we're all ears 😊
All sarcasm aside:
The willingness is here, we are just overwhelmed and have ZERO clue where to start, and all our research sends us in zigzag patterns where nothing gets done aside from the blowing of a mental fuse.
Slapped in the mouth! Good one Josh, I know I was when I disrespected my elders. And so it should hv been done!
Water literally falls from the sky! What other renewable resource does that!?
I think there is so much to say we need a part 2 I'm with you brother it's time we stand up and unite
Amen
Hey Josh I just finished cutting and storing firewood for the long winter ahead, then I dug a few vegetables from my own garden for my lunch. Me and my dad and my brother also harvested a moose today as well. I agree with everything your saying %100! Anyone who doesn't possess those basic hunting/gathering self-sufficient skills is POOR beyond their own knowledge, I don't care if they're a millionaire! AND, they'll never take away my bang sticks! 😂 keep up the good work my friend. You are a role model for the whole world IMO!
In my youth our family made jams, jellies and sauces. We hunted and farmed. Today I miss that lifestyle.
Americans, just take it for granted that someone will feed us and take care of us. Maybe , maybe not. I'm not panicking , but I'm learning everything I can about growing and raising my own food. Am I a prepper?. Your darn right I am. This was your best video yet Josh.
prepper is the new word for what used to be PERSON!! It's so silly how we have to compartmentalize our groups v/s just living isn't it?
I hear what you’re saying, and agree with you on so many levels, but some of us don’t have the means to buy land. I live in a 880 sq foot house with a small lot. I’m doing the best I can with what I have (garden, compost, canning, chest freezer, storing fuel and food in rotation, etc) but I can’t afford land! I would love to have some land to implement a bigger system, but I’m raising 4 children and have control of my finances, but at the end of they day I can’t afford a bigger place!
don't need alot of land to grow a garden my friend....you have 4 children in a 880sq ft home! Shew...that's tough right there!
Couldn’t agree more. 👍💯
God Bless us
ABSOLUTELY
Loved that video. You are right.
Amen Brother!!!!
Very well said
God Bless your Common Sense...
