Klaus believes he's like Mikael when it's so wrong. With such badass and compassionate kids like Marcel and Hope, he's not even close to Mikael. He's opposite to him.

While he was out killing, reckless, & mindless.
She was endlessly waiting for a father that never came.
She is the only one of her kind, & so is he, they are both broken as can be.
All she ever wanted was to love her father, & to know him, & for her father to love her, & to know her too, but he let his fear once again ruin & rule everything.
If they don't take good care of her, fight for her to keep her light, she will become her father, but far worse, & unstoppable.
Miss Dove Flies Free understand the circumstances even if he wasn't killing, he couldn't go back, you saw what the hollow was like.
andrea okoto she'll never forget what he did for her, she is alive, & as sane, & ok as she can ever be because of their sacrifice, but it will take time forgive & to heal, & to ever trust him again.
He has to prove himself to her, she is his daughter after all.

Terrible truth is Klaus was being coward running away from Hope, could have just lied to her and told her that the people he killed were bad threats to the family. Though its also true that Klaus is both a loving father and a monster at the same time
