    Wego is a clothes and jewellery/accessory store in Harajuku (not sure if it's in other places in Japan too) so possible that like the ring and hat plus maybe the clothes themselves were meant to be from Wego

    I actually really like these dolls. Regardless of what you showed about their questionable quality for the price.
    They have a strong visual appeal. Very cute and super pretty faces and the hair is wonderful!
    I might if it's possible, play head swap with these dolls and give them a better body.
    Otherwise, thanks for sharing. I love to see new dolls, and these are really cool!
    Great review as usual!

    I really like Wego. She's eye-catching. I associate bucket hats with the 80s but I guess the trend came back around. I was surprised that Mattel actually made a fabric bucket hat for one of the BMR Barbies. Rockabilly is cute but she seems more like a regular Licca-chan, just taller, but maybe that is meant to be her appeal, I dunno.

    I ordered several Licca dolls and outfits from Amazon Japan to Canada about a month ago. The price was high, but not prohibitive, especially with a larger order reducing shipping price per item. I think Neon Butterfly is my favourite, but I haven't unboxed anything, so maybe my impression would change. I will probably order some more items in the future, but I watch for markdowns. Compared to what we can get in North America for a similar price, they are absolutely not worth it, especially if you swap the body, but I love the whole Licca vibe. So, it still sucks me in.

  • @PandoraHearchu

    For the body, from what I've seen most people tend to swap the Licca body for another one. Considering these dolls are generally aimed at a somewhat older audience, it's possible that they decided to put less thought into the body for that reason, because they know that people don't care about the body and will swap it anyway.
    As for the price... where I live, the most recent wave of Rainbow High costs 37 bucks. Looking at ZenMarket, Licca has a similar price point at about 38 bucks. So personally I'd say that it isn't more expensive, but rather it's about the same price point as RH?

    The hat isn't that unusual actually. Of course I can't speak about the US, but here in Belgium (and from my knowledge a lot of West-Europe and I assume Japan as well) it was very popular to wear!
    It's still everywhere in stores but I think the trend went down a bit by now
    Edit: From what I know about the pricing, Japan is a more expensive country in general. I don't think you can always compare currencies because things like taxes and just currency value in general have a big say in pricing.
    So I don't think the $30 is expensive per se (not cheap of course but just a normal price like how people consider Rainbow High to have normal prices). And as she's a very popular doll anyway, I don't think she's that expensive for the Japanese market.
    This is coming from someone international (Belgium specifically) and I'd compare it with the Crybabies BFF dolls. They're from Spain, yet more expensive here in Belgium than they are in the US? It doesn't make sense, but that's how it is

      I recently vacationed in Japan and can say it is a more expensive country depending on what you're looking for.

      It's about $36 American dollars at the moment and for a collab doll, it's not too bad compared to their Sanrio or SanX collabs for like $100 ish. Wego is store clothes that have a vintage aesthetic think? I thought it was a thrift store but I don't remember.
      Yen is still a little weaker in the US at the moment. In my experience, stuff in Japan is more affordable to the import prices we get.

    Thank you so much for this video! After watching it, I purchased Wego right away and I'm considering buying Rockabilly Cherry as well. I saw it at a store but I forgot to take a look at the actual doll inside the box (silly me) and now I can't really tell from your video and the pictures if her hair is more blonde or a light brown... how would you describe it?

  • @juliuslovr
    @juliuslovr Год назад +1

    I could be wrong but I dont think #Licca were meant as collector dolls as I saw them in large chain stores alongside the regular Licca dolls. Most collector dolls I saw came from really specific stores or behind glass cases at Mandarake.
    Licca-sized clothes fit a lot of different dolls from Japan (Blythe, Azone Pure Neemo XS, Ruruko) so the market for doll clothing alone is great for restyling (bad for the wallet though 😅)

      They’re playline collector or gateway collector I’m pretty sure- it’s how the marketing steers. Like Barbie pink label- never in cases or spider wrapped but “meant for collectors” while kids can still enjoy/not destroy them too easily

    Appreciate these videos. Was thinking of buying #Licca-chan dolls but the hollow, plastic legs with no articulation is a deal breaker. I'd rather just get regular Licca-chan dolls with the rubber legs.

      I don't mind a similar face as I know this is the character "Licca"- I just wish they did more with the makeup, eye colors etc. Mostly they only do different lip colors. I do seek out the other characters but they don't release very often- I have better luck with Jenny's friends usually

    • @rorychoc
      @rorychoc Год назад +1

      @@xCanadensis yeah licca don’t usually have that much difference in makeup or eye color. Mostly just the hair. The friends are not that common in the playline but they’re many of them if you search for Licca Castle which is the collector line.

    Armpits are “unattractive”. I was told that while I was in Japan? Maybe that’s why they don’t feel Licca needs them?
