i remember this video really taught me how tags should look, simple and easy to write, obviously back when i was a toy. i really did learn alot from this video
This video takes me back to my younger days when I would see active taggers doing live shit in the heart of South Central. I wish I got the chance to meet GRAY... Its very rare to find old school footage of active taggers, So glad I came across this, lol.
Last time I seen him was in 96 on Cesar Chavez. I seen him 2 times, I remember me and my primo asking him what the GOK stand for. He said it was Grays Own Krew hahaha. He was everywhere in DT and ELA.
GRAY DFW GOK TBK BLA still doing his thing. He'll never stop. True homie right there. Yo KOALA, SKAPE, and BETOE. GRAY says what's up. Much respect for an L.A. Legend and a friend. KARL DFW GOK
Great piece of Video Jesse Waugh I don't know how the fuck I never ran into this video!! This shit takes me waaaaaaaay Back!! Never saw GRAY again after '96. I even wrote in different spots in the L.A River "Gray where are you? Hit me back" LOL! He was a cool homie. After you got into TKO you stopped writing GOK. Why? TOOMER was the cool dude and a Beast! I remember a '2mer' piece he did and a '2tsie' piece he did behind the sears tower. SOLOE was a funny motherfucker lol. Wonder what happened to that guy. When he would do a piece, he would be a perfectionist! We be like "let's go fucker!" haha good times. Another good dude to me was SPAIR from DFW & TKO. Wonder what happened to him too. If you guys are still around the Los Angeles area, hit me back. Would be cool to hangout again one day. GRAY and SPAIR back then got me into buying a Walkman and earphones to listen to our favorite cassette tapes! They never left the house without the Walkman! Good video again Jesse Waugh. I wish I would have recorded some of this stuff from back then. All I used back then were those disposable cameras to snap pictures. I had a FAT ALBUM full of EVERYBODY's pieces who would be known from back then. Now the only memories I have is whatever's left from that album and of course, Google Image lol. There are days were out of nowhere I just want to take a walk to the L.A River just to reminisce. Even the smell of the River is what takes me back! Good times. Graffiti of the 90's was the shit to me. Ok I'm done lol Shout out GOK and K2D! 👍
This is great seeing such old history nationwide that made its way to the midwest from the left coast. Seeing him emerge even more from the oldschool, while I was just beginning was great. Seeing him build a nice powerhouse crew was impressive. Plus, he's got a control with the can you can see from miles away. Much respect. -4dfw-.
Damn Gray was the man. I grew up in Huntington Park. Saw all his name everywhere, even in the movie Money Talks. Koala name can be seen in the Chico and Coolwater cd.
Lol some people dont understand graffiti especially some graffiti writers all they think writers should do is wild style wild style ur tags cant look so plain blah blah yall just dont get the concept of graffiti fuck style aint what its all about mans getting up
Sometimes the over processed tags are hard as hell to read. To be honest, Gray has the same hand style as a writer that was up in NYC that went by FRAY. In my opinion, Fray had one of the best tags that I would always see back in the 90's. If you check out some classic NYC footage, you'll most likely come across Fray's big tags. His shit was very clean.
Iv spent hundreds of nights just kicking it, talkin with this foo about everything under the sun man. One of the kindest people iv ever met. Cheers Gray,The papa roach!! Mincey DFW
damn, thnx for posting this up tht dude is a fuckin L.a legend! him Spair, Sahl, Serch,125er put it down..& hes still killin shit in detroit mans a beast wont stop cant stop
I seen Gray and his homies kill Pacific Ave. In Venice beach after cops broke up b-boy summit in the pits and a little riot broke out, I just remember them running up N down the street mobbing shit up not giving a fuck...good times
Lol I remember GRAY up everywhere in L.A...my cousin was from NFL CBI...I would ask and ask Fen and Prof to get in CBI at least and they would deny me cause I was younger...then I came across Pelet from FBI LAS and hung around him and I got in FBI lol fun times in junior high man then in high school I got into CND and TON with another cousin...man writing was fun as hell...
Damn what's up with the haters in the comments section? Are they the ones who used to slash Gray's shit out and not leave a name? Ya'll should be old enough to let that shit go already. And everyone calling Gray a toy is a toy themselves. In the mid 90's there were no toys at all. All tags back in the days were dope.
@jessewaugh wut up fam, u still making videos now? and thanx. I used to b out wit the homie gray just mobbin. I'm dropping a song for the homie in the near future.
Gray is the homie me and him and hever started mobbing back in the days are first crew was called solo writers slw .. and then we were from nsw tag banging days.. much love my boi

+Jesse Waugh Is that you hitting up in this video?
+RememberVietnam Hitting up? If you mean weed then no. In fact, I think marijuana contributed greatly to the destruction of Californian culture.
+Jesse Waugh I agree, Is that you tagging in the video?
I dig that 90's footage.
Thanks
There were good times. Only Memories now brother. 90's..
