Just be picky on who you rent to. Ask for business and personal references and follow up on all of them. Same with at least 5 years of past residences. If it even smells wrong don't do it. Everything should be on paper. Deal with strictly proven facts (check stubs, credit checks, etc.) not emotion and stories. But also make sure you keep your end of the bargain. Bad landlords usually have bad tenants.

It cost him 30k to fix the place after 9 months. He has a court judgement but cannot collect since their income cannot be garnished. The wife was used to cooking outdoors where they lived. She tried to cook like that in the kitchen. He had to replace all the flooring, all the window coverings and repaint the interior. There was also damage to the kitchen from all the oil and smoke. If it’s in my control I fix the problem myself. When I was growing up we were poor. didn't have money to buy a lot of stuff. Our house wasn't 100% clean all the time, It was lived in.. But, we didn't have any bedbugs, roaches, or mice in our house. I'm the youngest of 6 kids.. My parents put all of us kids to work..Now, as an adult, I have my house SPOTLESS.. I can't stand a messy house..

Wow the attitude that lady had saying "my 8yr old", woman get your act together, show remorse and feel bad for what your poor upbringing has done

LMAO! She said 8 year old. She did not even flinch. And she will never feel bad for the damage from her child, she sat and watched her child write in the walls. And she left trash all over the place. But she did the damage, all of it.

@@lcam9241 even I knew better than that at that age! I mean, I did draw on the basement wall with some dry erase markers when I was 4 lol. But I would’ve gotten my ass whooped if I drew on the living room wall at age 7 or 8, with permanent marker or crayon!

If your 8 year old writes on the wall, there's a big problem, the defendant should keep writing utensils away from her children. I'll never understand how kids can be allowed to destroy property. You raise your kids to have respect for their own and other people's property!!

Exactly! That child was old enough to know better and she should’ve been made to clean it off the walls herself! My son drew a smiley face on the wall when he was 2. I explained to him that he can only color on paper. I cleaned the wall and it never happened again.

I did that once as a young child. My parents made their displeasure well known, I never did it again. I knew they were serious. Different parenting styles over the decades.

@@radolfkalis4041 very true. My 2 goddaughters were raised that its ok to draw and write anywhere, in their own home. My best friend had a very different parenting style than myself. RIP Valerie
