  • Got this in the mail today. It's a huge improvement from My Arcade 's previous iteration which was a straight up NES rom plopped into the device. This version plays much more like the original arcade, so much so in fact that unless you're a die-hard Pac-Man fan, you'd probably never know the difference.
Pretty nice. Probably the best "arcade" version we've seen so far on a dedicated unit like this for $40.

While definitely not perfect, I'm pleasantly surprised with this. On one hand, I'm kinda miffed about the genesis homebrew, while on the other I literally cannot put mine down lol. May just be desperation, but having a semi-decent way to enjoy the ms portably in 2023 is really nice regardless.

I'm surprised this thing even exists to begin with considering the legal limbo Ms. Pac-Man is in by now...

I’m thinking it’s because Namco didn’t make this. They’re understandably against giving any royalties to AtGames. But, if another company like MyArcade were to make a product, they’d just pay royalties themselves to Namco and AtGames.

_"It's like they completely recreated the game…"_ That's correct: they created an original (Sega Genesis) ROM that mimics the arcade ROM aesthetically. Presumably because the hardware is only set up to emulate Sega Genesis games.

I bough the Atari 50 from this series. I agree, the screen isn't great. I'm near sighted and without my glasses the screen has like a rainbow effect. I think these devices are neat and would be great just to have in your backpack or glove compartment. If anything happens to them, oh well, $30 vs losing or destroying an Analogue Pocket that cost over $200.

The previous version was better, with three games, volume louder and keypad more responsive. Now they switched cable from micro usb to usb-c, so have to buy another plug and the customer service is not great. This screen looks a little bit larger and color better than previously. But it's just as you mention about the screen being washed out and keypad not great.

Why couldn't they put the faster version in this, I totally think its become the more popular version of this game.

There's a version with NES roms that has 3 and the horizontal aspect ratio. If the screen was better, I would have bought them both.

So will we ever be able to download your Pac-Man 37 at long last, and will there be a universal macOS version? Peace.

I'm working on a version of the game now that'll be available for download, yes. But as for a Mac version, unfortunately it doesn't really run properly on Mac due to shader incompatibilities. It's possible, but it's buggy and doesn't always look good.

@@bauske, even with the new tools for ARM-based Macs that make it easier than ever to port Windows games to macOS? Peace.

@@MuzikJunky Honestly, I'm not sure. Thing is I don't have a Mac, nor do I know someone with which to test it out. The program I use, ClickTeam Fusion, does have a Mac exporter, so I'd be happy to try it, but outside of building the program for Mac, I have no way to test it lol

@@bauske, other than the lack of final-dot sound, the weird fluctuations in volume of the siren, the orange monster being slightly more aggressive than it should be, the strange transitions between the siren sounds, the fruit going around the box counter-clockwise sometimes in random Ms. mode, the score and turns left taking up game real estate, and the inability to access the settings menu, this is the most faithful and lovingly rendered homebrew of the core Pac-Man games that I’ve ever seen! It’s almost as if you were over the shoulder of Tôru Iwatani and the Namco and General Computer Corporation teams while they were creating the games! I hope you are able to iron out these issues in a future version, but I’m overwhelmingly happy with your efforts! Peace.

I forgot to mention in the video, but there is a USB C port on the bottom where you can plug in a cable with a 1 amp power adapter to play without batteries.

Play it for a while and try the different features first before you give a review so you know what the hell you are talking about.

This isn't a review, nor is that stated anywhere on the video. It's a first impression video because, at the time, I couldn't find ANY video on the internet featuring this unit, and I wanted to help others know what they were buying.
