Morphy's World - Mandelbulb 3D Fractal animation

  • Created by Arthur Stammet in October 2013.
Soundtrack composed by Arthur Stammet in 1987 and remixed in 2013.
This fractal animation has been rendered in Mandelbulb 3D, a freeware 3D fractal generator programmed by the fractalforums.com user Jesse. It is a long flight through a delicately morphing complex fractal world. This hybrid fractal combines a Menger Cube with a Mandelbulb and its exploration shows its infinitely big and small complexity, flying through this world and "Menger-Windows", allowing to explore miniaturized versions of this same world. Morphing in order to close or open entries for the bulbs, created or destroyed by morphings, this world isn't at all stable and just exists for the programmer's virtual software camera, following paths, which have been imagined by their creator.
This footage, which has been used in two more complex films ("Karl Menger meeting Gustave Eiffel in a Time Machine": • Karl Menger meeting Gu... and "Organized Chaos" : • Organized Chaos - Mand... ), shows in this version the entire, uninterrupted voyage, slightly tweaked with rays and sparkles in the reflection-bulbs-sequence.
The soundtrack is a long improvisation on an analogue Korg-Synthesizer, mounted onto a rhythmical or atmospheric background. This tape music study, recorded in 1987, has been remixed for the purposes of this movie in Premiere CS5.

I'm wondering why exactly these structures are so prevalent during my psychedelic experiences. Even before seeing fractal videos such as this one, my trips would often contain what I would describe as infinite psychedelic Eiffel towers twisting and morphing into each other. Wonderful stuff.

+EvilTim1911 That's interesting. It seems to prove that fractal formulas are universal and that computers just succeed in representing worlds that only exist in mathematics.

supadox I understand why the visuals have a fractal nature, but I don't understand why I see exactly the same structures as in the video. There are many different kinds of fractals as you probably are aware, but ones similar to those shown in the video are extremely prevalent in my CEVs.

fractals are pretty universal in nature. my friends and i had a conversation while we were all on acid, and we would *repeatedly* find some way to relate fractals into the main topic or point being made, even with *no* initial relation to fractals.

      @ArthurStammet  10 лет назад +3

I deeply listened to your songs and I consider it should be possible for me to use some of your tracks for new fractal films, adding of course the credits about your contribution. You've a good style and your songs have a melancholic touch which inspires me.
      I see two possibilities:
      1. Video first and music added afterwards in order to underline the dramaturgy of the animation (Remix-Soundtrack).
      2. A musical composition is used as it is and the video is mounted in accordance to the dramaturgy of the soundtrack. This method leads to a kind of Videoclip. In a first approach, I see/hear possibilities for 3 tracks: "Moments Pass", "Wade" and "Nick Rindahl". They have a good fractal atmosphere ;-)
Considering my video footage and my own musical compositions, I've used both methods in the past and I'll do it in the future.

Fun fact, if you plot all the points of tree branch growth on a graph, it makes this. Mandelbrot fractals are the shape created when nature occurs. Also, the rate of a dripping tap, take the time when it drips and it plots this aswell.
It seems natural because it is, these 3D renderings ARE how the entire universe operates.

I also thought so, when I saw the first 3D fractals after having primarily worked with 2D frcatals. Two different solutions for representing the complexity of our universe, beginning with simple formulas and going on with rather long investigations leading to "this is it"-exclamations!

Yes indeed, and I've already done this with another sequence. Remaking the whole movie for 360° viewing is highly demanding, considering the computer power. Every picture will become 4x larger and there are tens of thousands to render for a movie of this type. Therefore I won't even consider to do so because I don't want to have my computer turning on that only job without interruption for months.

Like a anolog tv it runs at good speed, it has incoming and processing and outgoing information. How come computers can't be so simple and fast. Like to not wait it just does that incoming and processing and outgoing.
To be like a continuous simulation what ever each program or application be . No matter how much data or processing power it takes.
If a vhs device can be so good at it why computers have to be so awesome to run big programs. Simply like the tv screen as well no matter what was in screen, it played out ok. But at same time a computer can not achieve the same effect . To provide to the screen and mess with said screen or incoming and outgoing information ? Simply changing the few of it and the next reaction can occur. Like fractal geometry it is effect of continuous equations or information or patterns.
In which detail in the screen resolution could be higher and more hyper realistic down to the effect of microstructures, for video or video games . In which games could pertain world's of the size of earth as well. Also for understanding patterns or units of something. Anyway as such patterns or details at it's certain speeds some could be super fast too within the details, that most computers today can not achieve .

What’s damned annoying is this chaotic music! 🤨 Why would you put a sound that’s is almost identical to one kids playing with my pots & pans & another practicing his Trumpet...I’m trying to get away from kids noise! 😖
Cool Space sounds would have been more appropriate & more trippy...Bubbles are great but looking for sounds that lower my blood pressure👎

Be cool to add some quantum effects and have solids become transparent and back to solids.

Should be cool, indeed, but this Version already demanded a series of whole weeks of Rendering time and if I add the complexities you expect me to insert, I don't think that neither me nor my Computer should stay "cool" anymore. So, I think that I won't consider to do what you expect me to achieve.

You are in the middle of a mathematical formula. No more and no less! It's really strange to see what may appear in this kind of non existing worlds, but are they really non existing? For my part, and yours, I guess, I like exploring these perfect, intouched worlds.

I believe these worlds are real, somewhere in a known or unknown universe, this been an expression of maths, but is a lot more. I winessed similar worlds through guided most medical psychelic experiences. I found society's repressive and oppressive enforcement's took those expressions away until I found your incredible works and I thank you again. Especially for interacting with me personally, very special!
