    I love my Edge rod! You can really tell the amount of time and research that Gary put into this rod when he wasn't allowed to get a rod out in to the market since he had a contract with Shimano for ten years. The rod is so light that you can cast for days without any fatigue. My friends can't believe how it feels like a feather with my Shimano Ci4+ 2500. Luke hit it on the head with the feel too which can help out with hook sets. Yes, it is expensive - I had a "WTH am I doing!" when I purchased it. But IMO it makes it easier to swallow with the quality and the included lifetime warranty. Thanks for the review!

    These rods started out as a tweek to the Bud Ernhardt rods of about 20 years ago, which I still have. I have one of the original MH six foot rods that performs exactly like this one with the exception that mine has the original cork handle which is fine for me. The rod tip on this rod, however, was broken. But a call to Edge resolved the problem They are sending me a free rod tip replacement.

    About 3 yrs ago I went out salmon fishing in SW Washington with a buddy and an Edge Rods Sles Rep. We briefly met up with Mr. Loomis and he handed over a nice selection of rods for use and testing. By the end of the day you could really see how these rods set themselves apart from the competition. Pricey for sure, but pair-up with a buddy and take advantage of the Holiday Sales incentives when purchasing two rods!!

    I have the Edge ISR (inshore) 7' Med . It's super sensitive, super light, beautiful look. Paired with a Ci4 it's my favorite light tackle combo. I have no complaint other than the the companies 3/4 month shipping time.

    I've had an edge first strike 7' mh casting rod since it introduced as a Kickstarter. It's the best rod I've ever owned; the first strike is super light with backbone. I use it all the time bass fishing.
    I also own an edge Pelagic light spinning rod which is a fun rod, but I would recommend getting something like a gloomis bluewater instead.
    Edge rods are expensive, but you can buy them for half off directly from the edge site. They are still expensive at roughly $225.00. if you have the disposable income I recommend edge inshore and bass rods.

    Based on the date the video was posted, it looks like you would have had the rest of last year's fishing season to really test the rod. Did you keep fishing the rod? Did your opinion of the rod change the more you fished it? Did you get any additional Edge rods to try? With respect to comparison, you indicated it was made with nice components and as such came with a heavy price tag. Can you share rods you think it compares favorably to from a fishability standpoint?? I am curious if you believe / feel that it compares to his former company, ie G.Loomis rods, Shimano rods, Daiwa rods? Thanks for the post and look forward to your reply.

    I use the edge black widow 702. Best rod i have ever used. Yes it is very expensive, especially in Australia, but hands down is worth the coin. I normally use the loomis e6x range but since using edge it is hands down a cut above. Carbon handle is awesome. You feel everything. Good review! Thanks guys.

      Thanks Blake! I actually picked up a Bull Bay rod recently to start testing. One of my first trips out with it was last Thursday and I caught a 38" snook with it:) Feels like a nice rod, but their power ratings seem overstated (my MH feels like a M).

      @blakecangelosi8892 6 лет назад

      My first one was from their Reel Animal series #15. Loved it but wanted to get away from the “show endorsed” kind of rods (my last one was a Blair Wiggins rod) so I actually found a captain who used them exclusively until he got sponsored by Shimano and had to get rid of them. So I got a Sniper Assault and a custom one he had made he had made. The SA is 6-12# class and the custom is 8-17#. The SA is SUPER light...would go great with your 2500 CI4+

I need a MH rod so maybe I'll buy the M as it's probable stiffer than other rods. Thanks for your review. BTW, your reviews on abrasiveness of mono, fluoro and braid were superb. Have you compared fluoro leader vs fluoro-coated mono for visibility under watrer? Is fluor-coated mono visibility closer to mono or pure fluoro? Thanks.
