Glad to hear it. I’ve got the first digital version, spiral-bound, then I bought the deluxe edition which I’ve barely looked at... I recently got Frostgrave 2nd ed. despite owning 2 copies of the first edition and having no opponents now thanks to Covid. I wouldn’t have upgraded to a 3rd version of RoSD at this point regardless, but at least my fancy copy isn’t already obsolete! Thank you, Detective Boring. 🧐😉
Thanks for this video, I found a copy of the Deluxe Edition at my local game store and passed on it today knowing a new edition was coming out and felt it best to wait for the new one to come out in case of any important updates. I'll go back and buy it tomorrow!
Recently subbed to your channel and your love for this game has been infectious. So much so that I'm actually thinking of taking my Elder Scrolls minis off ebay and grabbing this book to make some use of them!
THANKS A LOT for clarifying the retail description of this “latest” version of the Rulebook. I too was very confused by the description of this version & went around in circles, trying to discern whether this added anything NEW to the Deluxe version, or was effectively, the replacement for the discontinued Deluxe Rulebook, albeit with a cheaper & more utilitarian cover than the fancier Deluxe binding. I finally concluded that the latter description was the case, but - as I’m about to purchase this replacement - it’s reassuring to have you confirm that it contains all of the additional material that came with the enhanced Deluxe version, over & above the original “standard” Rulebook so that - a few typo corrections aside - it’s essentially the Deluxe version with a different cover. As mentioned in a post I just left on your review of the Monster Card Deck for ROSD, this latest version of the Rulebook is quite hard to come by at present, (in most U.K. outlets anyway) & from my enquiries, it’s currently out of stock & on preorder in many stores (at a RRP of £36.99). However, for anyone looking for a copy but doesn’t want to pay full price or over the odds in a store that might have it in stock, “GAMESLORE” in the U.K. are allegedly due to restock it imminently & will be selling it at £29.99, so that’s where I intend to buy it from.
I got the Deluxe edition. Hopefully they correct the part in page 62 , Scenario 1: The Bridge Guards. The second and third paragraph are almost the same. Simple correction like this are all that is needed in the retail edition.
That whole section is a cut and paste disaster. The single word "river" appearing in a sentence by itself, and then the duplicated text. They didn't specify which typos they've corrected, but I would be very surprised if things like that weren't put right.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Agreed. Does not take away from the scenario. Thankfully it's just fluff and people would understand what is going on but yes hopefully that ill be corrected. It doe not upset a lot since I figured that if I made a game like this, you would find typos like that as well.
Oh, for sure. It's a beautiful book despite a few errors like that. It's my favourite source / rules book. I used to work as a magazine editor and there's always a few errors that get through, and sometimes what actually goes to print isn't always the version you signed off!
I don't have a problem with print on demand books, but I would kick myself if I ordered a bunch of them and then Modiphius released a compendium that was as nice as their deluxe rules book. So, I'm holding on for a while to see what happens.
To save everyone else- skip to 3:30 for the news- only the cover is different. There is NO news on here if any errors or mistakes in the version are different.
Thank you so much for this video, the Deluxe Edition is well over a hundred bucks on amazon where I live while the Regular Edition is a third of that. Despite that I've had no end of difficulty finding out if the Deluxe edition was actually "deluxe" in any ways beyond aesthetics.
No worries. Yes, there's definitely no need to pay that much for the deluxe edition. You have to remember when the products came out. It was called the deluxe edition because at the time it was updating the currently available paper and PDF products, it added in rules and missions from some supplements, added in new artwork and presented it all for the first time in a really lovely hardback (I reviewed it on the channel). However, the new standard edition came out a year later is a reprint of the deluxe edition without the nice binding. So, as long as you buy the newest standard edition you will get all the same content.
I was very confused about this very topic. Well done for getting to the bottom of it!
Glad the video helped. Thanks for watching.
Your videos got me into this game. Can't wait for more gameplay videos!
That's great to hear. There are more playthroughs coming. My heroes still have a lot of work to do!

And the fancy copy is so very fancy. It's almost tempting to buy a retail copy just because the deluxe one is too nice to use!
Always Board Never Boring lol, true! 🤪

Happy to help. The deluxe edition is lovely.

Rangers is a really fantastic game, and the Elder Scrolls miniatures do work well with it.
Very helpful information. Thanks!
Very good. Thanks for sorting this out.

That's a good price for a book packed with so much game. I hope it comes back into stock soon for you.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Thank you. Me too.
Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated.
You're welcome.
Great video, very useful. Only have the PDF and was going to pick up the book. I'll get the new standard version 👍
Thanks. PDFs are fine, but nothing beats a nice physical copy of the rules to play from.

This is a great and very helpful video! Thank you for this! This definitely puts some minds at ease. Keep up the good work!

It would be great if Modiphius published the expansions, im not a fan of print on demand books.

extremely helpful! I freaked out a little I'm gonna miss sth having bought Deluxe a few weeks ago, and such clarification was just a relief!
@@antonimaruniewicz1361 I'm glad I was able to put your mind at rest about it. The way they have worded it on their site is very confusing.
