What's worse was I wanted to see you at the event near Jersey recently (folk concert) and it was just too much money. I feel like I hit 3 paywalls to keep following you. Please address it.
Just bought your album sir! Love the hurdy gurdy! 😍
Hi, our group would like to buy your album and feature a few of the songs in a podcast we are creating. Please contact us at cjsabodski@gmail.com
i hope this is the future

Hurdy gurdy heavy metal
Yeeeahh !!
the best part about music is how there's thousands of genres and new ones come out every day, so seeing as there's already hard rock and heavy metal, and considering the emotions he can express with this music maybe it's time for... solid wood? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
...i'll see myself out.
Guilhem Desq will the solo version of omen be in it?
@@iota-09 solid morning wood
Hurdy gurdy hurvy murtal
You can see it in his face, he clearly enjoys his work.
Oh he enjoys it alright ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
A bit of a necro post, but he reminds me of 331Erock. Every time I see Erock's videos, he always has a huge smile on his face.
@@JaxMerrick Might have to check out this erock guy ^_^
Who wouldn’t enjoy this? He’s playing an ancient instrument with electric pickups and it sounds awesome
And I love seeing that! :D I love people that are passionate about what they do
I'm pretty sure this song could resurrect me from the dead... How do you not have the most enormous cult following? This needs to spread like fire...
He probably does in the circles he moves in.
He definitely brings the hurdy gurdy into the 21st century. And boy, is it cool! I can only presume two factors: One, the Renaissance Fair scene has always been a bit exclusive by nature, and two: Who else but a few nerds even know the instrument and would thus look and listen even if they got the opportunity?
@@mukhumor Circles are relevant in more ways than one.
If this song isn't used in a boss fight in my lifetime Im going to be very disappointed.
This music is like being a crusader on horse in a battle in the desert
@@theepicraccoon4589 a little be used in a boss battle in my movie I'm working on
I think it’s more of a kraken boss battle
The Wittless Wonder I actually feel like it’s a good theme for fighting some sort of Goliath creature with multiple limbs.
You’re dodging, slashing, jumping, stabbing, but to do anything substantial you gotta climb or run up one arm, dodging the others, swing to another to get to it’s Achilles heel.
You lay the killing blow and now you have to descend down to safety all while it’s limbs are flailing out of control and it’s falling over.
You jump to solid ground just as it’s now lifeless body falls over a bottomless pit.
Used this as a song an NPC bard played during a Mindflayers boss battle a little bit ago in my d&d campaign. The players loved it.
It's like a cross between Celtic and Arabic music. Love the hurdy gurdy.
I love the idea of creating contemporary compositions for traditional instruments rather than limiting them to repeat an older (medieval/renaissance) repertoire. Not that there is anything wrong with it (medieval and renaissance music is beautiful in its own rights), but it's interesting to see how this sound can be relevant to the 21st century.
perhaps it's all about how string instruments appeal to very fundamental of human instincts and emotions...? Throw a bag pipe and an Indian flute into the mix of a hurdy gurdy, an electric guitar, a harp in the mix and let magic make itself.
Agreed. Just like our voice as an instrument. If there's so much that can be done with it, why limit ourselves?
I can imagine dancers in a harem with beautiful garments of all colors and all the dancers belly dancing around within the harem for their King.
when the bard in the party shows off
When the bard sets the mood while being chased down by enemies with higher levels than you
when the bard don't need his party members
This must be what a nat 20 on performance looks like
I first heard of Guilhem Desq when a group that I work with were working on a show in the Globe in Sweden. We were opening a corporate event night with a Viking battle scene. Guilhem was up first playing this song to a crowd of 16,000 people while we waited in the wings ready to burst through the crowd to the stage. That hurdy gurdy really got us fired up.
Yeah, one of the best ways to get motivated
The bagpipe of the stringed instruments.
The more I think about this statement the more I agree.
That's actually intentional. Watch this video for more context ruclips.net/video/xv52jaxkHPw/видео.html The Hurdy Gurdy actually has a pretty amazing history.
i compare these videos to the ones by Andrey Vinogradov (another youtuber who plays hurdy gurdy) and I am struck with how well this old, old instrument works with modern composition. More importantly, i am struck with how ubiquitaly good the sound is. Both styles are amazing to listen to; a note in favor for the quality of the sadly often overlooked hurdy gurdy. I must say, the presentation of this channels videos are a lot more emotive and raw than Andreys.
Bombastic is the way I would describe it. It looks like he's forcing his will on the instrument, rather than letting the instrument speak. Works all right in loud, fast passages, but he would have difficulty handling anything requiring any subtlety.
@@giovanna722 it honestly feels like the intrustment is jamming w him tbh
I'm honestly waiting for the hurdy gurdy to have a renaissance in modern music. Not sure it's not already happening tbh.
@@giovanna722 Considering this man uses the Hurdy Gurdy as an extension of himself, I would say nothing could be further from the truth and that what you see as him forcing his will on it is just his fervent passion.
If it wasnt for Andrey, i wouldn't have seen this man.
Holy moly that was intense. Love your stuff man. I'll be buying your album
Tonight I learned of the hurdy guest. Why wasn't this and option in orchestra class? Damn.
I'm in orchestra and I want this
It wasn't an option in orchestra because you'd steal the show with it
Oof
'Cause it IS an orchestra :)
Eh, you won't ever find the most interesting instruments in modern (classical) orchestra anyway.
Gotta look toward the overarching folk genre. Hurdy Gurdy, countless types of bagpipes and really cool and odd stringed instruments ... we got tons of that
HBO give this man a job on Game of Thrones!
Redcrosse Knight nel boi >:(
Redcrosse Knight - Game of thrones ? Poor guy, don't !
Yes, a cameo of this guy getting killed while playing his hg
This would fit perfectly in a medieval version of DOOM...
Quake buster boi.
Heretic/Hexen?
Visions is still my favorite album.
Most scenarios: The Devil went Down to Georgia
This scenario: The Bard walked into a Tavern
Dude, atleast give the hurdy gurdy a cigarette after you're done !
Save some for later, dude
Man, this phrase gets old. Well, ok, in this particular instance it actually fits pretty neatly.
Did this meme come from 2set aswell?
This comment is funny dude! I agree! Good one!
loled
This is so underrated
I spend a lot of time trying to find weird music and I'm amazed I never stumbled onto this until recently. Someone needs to get this guy on a talk show so he blows up

Superbe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤩🤩🤩😍😍
In one of my D&D games, before I joined, the party came across an evil clown. Ya know, your classic evil clown. Supernatural aspect of absurdity, focused through absolute grisly mayhem. And I'm never not gonna think of this song when the party brings it back up.
This is… Unreal. Love it. Thank you so much for sharing your music!!!
This is going into my "music to foresee terrible calamities to" playlist
Imagine if this was played back when it was common to use this instrument. It'd be like that sene in back to the future "...guess you guys aren't ready for that yet."
One of the coolest songs I've heard in a long time!
The sound mixing is simply astounding ! Congrats to the sound mixer for this mindblowing work !
Almost as good as the sound is the visuals. I love the energy he adds to the music.
I can only hope to someday have a song like this as a boss battle theme in my game 😮 so amazing
When the bard rolls a 20
The ending litteraly gave me chills
BiSh IM shOoK
I think you killed that hurdy gurdy.
Why when I always come back to this masterpieace it give me a pleasant shivers. Dammn... this song is one of my favourites of all time. Can't explress in words how good this song is.
The best heavy-celtic music I ever heard! You are a pioneer of a new type of music.
I love this so much, it feels like the Third Ear Band. As a Scots-Irish- Welsh-Norse type American, it stirs my blood and feels very ancient in my bones. So glad to run into your music!
You've definitely done your part to keep this instrument alive... I'll never forget this...
delicious, really gets the bloodlust going in the morning
Je l'ai vu en première partie de skald...si vous aimez ce qu'il fait en vidéo allez le voir en concert !!! C'était saisissant ! Excellent musicien, humble personne qui nous a fait voyagé sur sa vielle a volant !!!
Gives a new meaning to crankin' one out.
This instrument is just so fascinating and I love the way it sounds
This... was one of the coolest things I have ever heard...
This guy’s the real deal.
Sounds like what a heavy metal bagpipe would sound like.
Secretly, he's a level 20 bard
Imagine playing this to a 10th century peasant and watching his mind crumble
What a badass. I love the long history of this lovely instrument also it had so much hate. I’m glad to see so many new people play theme and whit so much love and control. There is a lot of happy souls now.
One of my favorite hurdy gurdy pieces by far. Incredible display of skill.
Discovered Guilhem just a couple days ago on accident and my mind is completely blown. I've always loved the hurdy gurdy's haunting sound. As a lifelong metalhead, this makes me love it even more.
*you can't add points to epicness, epicness already at maximum*
Speechless, absolutely stunning
I don't know why, but this song gives me a boost of energy that I want to dance to with head bobbing.
This song is responsible for making spill almost a entire container of sugar on the floor right before bed trying to make tea. Imitating the spinning hooded man.
Frenetic and Hypnotic......Anxiously awaiting my order to arrive this Fall.
Just........WOW!!!
Too much !!!!!!!!! You are pure energy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
I am the sound addiction and I approve this sound
This deserves 10,000x more views
I'm pretty sure this is a good slightly creepy instrument Strix would learn to play in Barovia...
So... add a Tibetan throat singer?
SpankyBranch I’d kill to see that. No hesitation.
Want to hear Metal with Tibetan Throat vocals? ruclips.net/video/99F3JzNc1U8/видео.html
The Norse coulda done a good job to. Not to much different imo.
Mongolian throat singing?
Mongolian, definitely Mongolian
Sounds like good witch burning music. Hell if you could produce this sound in the 10th century I'm sure they'd burn you for witchcraft instead. Gotta love it

So worth, that sound is amazing, but what’s the website?
look up hurdy gurdy for sale and there is a woodworking place that sells them
OOF
You're a wizard *GUILHEM DESQ*
Quand une musique te permet de rentrer en transe...
Merci de ton travail plus que parfait !
You’ve brought a new meaning to “crank it!”
I love how the hurdy gurdy will always sound like angry bees preparing for war
I like how people still use some of the oldest instruments and make more music, I think it pretty cool that you chose the hurry Gurdy. I love it keep up the awesome work 😁
*hurdy gurdy
Doug Durrum - only if the old doesn't stand up to reason and practicality. Thankfully instruments like the Hurdy Gurdy, even with how expensive they fuckin' are due to production cost, is one of those instruments that pass the test based on modern world applications if one could afford such an instrument. Millennials and gen Z do have some level of appreciation for older fashion, instruments, and culture, even if they despise some of the social problems that would no longer be accepted because "tradition" stopped being an excuse and have basically aged like milk
Honestly, this is why I think folk music in general is some of the coolest shit out there (also the reason I play it myself, although I gravitate towards different kinds of bagpipes myself).
It's a connection between the modern world and our history in a way. We can't ever lose that.
How did I just find this dude and this instrument. I feel like a piece of my life was missing until this moment!
Lost in the land of perfection. And don't want to go back :) Thanks man, you're wicked! I've always appreciated even more than just simple metal sound. Keep rocking! :)
*I got to know about this musical instrument today and I have literally watched dozens of its music videos,Still can't have enough!*
_Looks like I finally find the tempo and tune that pleases me the most!_
Fantastic! Metal hurdy gurdy!
I usually do not enjoy older instruments in modern music but I am mesmerized at what you created. This music should be in a movie soundtrack or video game, so full of energy.
The way you play makes the hurdy gurdy sound very arabic, there is a I don't know what of a Persian backbone in this piece...and I love it.
Sounds like a boss battle in a horror game
This is my favourite Guilhem Desq number. It has the crushing intensity of Angel of Death or Raining Blood but more melodic, maybe like a sequel to night on bald mountain. Killer track almost makes me want to go buy a hirdy gurdy
30 seconds in and I'm subscribed
Well, Mr Desq, I am finally conviced (plus I've got some money!) to buy a bunch of your CDs.
The soundtrack for the new Skyrim is sounding pretty awesome.
Super cool work my man.
@Berserker Fate TBH that's what I'm hoping but that might not happen. One can only hope :P
So badass dude. I love all your stuff.
Comme les histoires et légendes Perses antique pleines de débauche et de folie
Never before have I been able to describe someone "rocking out on a hurdy gurdy"
I'm picturing a late 15th century Gothic Knight in a balls to the wall medieval fight against some sort of Defiling Demon. Something along the lines of a waltz meets renaissance era combat. He wields a pole hammer for the first half of the song but as the demon gets the upper hand and snaps his pole-arm in two he readies his gothic arming sword along with his buckler and goes toe to toe with the beast clad in black mail and tabard:)
Great background song for certain DnD moments.
my mans really feelin it huh
Really like the song, and cannot wait to get Album. And Congrats on the Album.
Sooo beautiful!
OMG!!! Just amazing!!
Awesome! Amazing!
How this video doesn't have 12m views I will never understand
Me sharing this to my friend asking “you ever see someone absolutely shred the hurdy gurdy?”
You sir, are my musical hero.
Awesome. God bless you.
J'espère vraiment que vous viendrez au québec un jour! je payerais cher pour vous voir un show!
I love the passion, it makes everything
MY NEW FAVORITE SONG!!
On fire!!!
you are fucking awesome man! Every song you make is amazing. I can't wait to get the album
Makes me think of Witcher 3~ So cool to give a old instrument a new live!!
They use a hurdy gurdy in witcher 3
Magic 😍
Most impressive..that's why i suspended my afternoon.
This song specifically in this album awakens a need to get up and dance that I can only describe as ancestral peer pressure
you're making an amazing work with this instrument, looking at your videos makes me so happy and full of energy
This instrument is so cool!
