That first clip was amazing! Looks like he maneuvered to avoid a bird strike. The Pilatus has some of the best aircraft lighting and an amazing turbine sound. Great video once again!
The gear is left down until 200 ft AGL because it takes 200 ft to extend them in a glide configuration. Single engine fun. I've got about 2500 hrs in the PC12. Great airplane.
The reason for the U/C staying down longer on some take-offs is because of take-off configurations. Normal take-off is flaps @ 15 degrees in which case the clean up sequence is U/C Up followed by flap 15 retraction. However, with a short field take-off flaps are set at 30. The clean up sequence is then Flaps 15, wait until retracted then Gear Up, then final stage of flap retracted. If you go for the U/C first on a flap 30 take-off you will get a configuration warning and call out in the cockpit
Excellent video once again and finished off with a nice touch of still shots at the end. I cant think of any thing better to do while in Nelson...except of coarse, capturing the King Airs! ;)
I'm always so excited when I see a new video from you in my inbox because I know it is going to be awesome! That was incredibly smooth footage! That PC-12 is one of my favorite props for sure!
The scenery at this airport is Magnificent!!! Your videos are always AWESOME!!! Pilatus one of my FAVORITE TURBORPOPS. Thnx for posting keep the vids coming!! =)
+turbonetic777 It is true, CZNL is surrounded by some really stunning scenery. Thanks so much for watching and for the kind comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Outstanding camera work Jesse on this compilation of PC12s, good liveries, the second of the planes was late on gear retraction, i noticed that, but no harm done, but his altitude increased fairly quickly when he retracted, nothing like a mountain face coming up quick to make you realize you need to climb quicker, lol,.I think if i had to pick one prop to be at the top, it is probably the PC12, as far as reliability, durability, maintenance cost, insurance, fairly good fuel capacity and range, in fact, their are several twins on the market that i would choose the PC12 over. Nice work my friend.
Ya it is a fun airplane to fly. I've since moved on from the PC12 but I miss it every now and then. Great collection of vids... You got me in there more then once I am pretty sure.
If the runway is long enough, it is good practice to wait longer to retract the gear. Don't forget, the Pilatus only has one engine... engine trouble on the takeoff run or just after takeoff is the absolute worst case scenario. Leaving the gear down as long as possible eliminates one thing to think about in a botched takeoff.
Another awesome video!! But, I have a questions... hehehe Why do they use retract the landing gear so high? Is it a normal procedure in this airport? Thanks for share it an hugs from Brazil!!
I saw the same thing in that video called King Air Compilation... They used to retract the landing gear very high too... Maybe I am accustomed with the pilots here in Brazil where they use to retract the gears not so high but not to fast, maybe with 200 feet above the ruway!! Thanks one more time!! ;-)
It's not uncommon for the gear to be left down while the flaps transition from 30* to 15*. 15* is the normal takeoff flap position, 30* is the short field position. The short field procedure is that once you're clear of all obstacles , bring the flaps up to 15*, then gear up, then flaps to 0* at 1000 AGL. I'm not really sure why the crews left the gear down for so long. Anyway, I love flying the Deuce, I have almost 2000 hours in them.
Interesting note: both planes that left their gear down until halfway to their destination were Air Sprint airplanes. Hmmm... I wonder what they're teaching over there!
No problem. I'm lucky enough to operate a PC12NG. They are a wonderful aircraft to fly.........very easy. The systems are amazing for an aircraft of it's type. GPWS, TAWS, TCAS etc...good FMS, rock solid autopilot, all glass Honeywell Primus avionics suite. A very capable aircraft and so easy to fly........a low houred PPL would have little trouble flying one. Easiest aeroplane to land as well.......didn't stop me hammering one into the deck the other night though!.......tired!
Word has it that Beech is going to produce a single engine turbo-prop. Will it be called a King Air? Probably shouldn't be, but the performance figures are pretty impressive with a cruise of 302 knots. David
Hi HDAVIATION,,, good nigth looking your spectacular video PILATUS PC 12 ,,, the fine lines of the body s aircraft,,, the colors, and the eleganc great Turbo Prop thanks,,,, your friend Oscar de Pachuca HGo Estados Unidos Mexicanos,,, l ll see your next video,,, so long,,,
In comparison to the flagship of Beechcrafts the King Air 350i - Pilatus PC-12 has 10% more cabine volume and is merely beaten by 10% in speed and range. However, the King Air 350i costs 70% more per hour and will not land on similar strips as the famous PC-12..
Actually, the PC12 has a cabin volume of 330cu.ft., while the KA 350 has a cabin volume of 355cu.ft. Small matter though; they're both excellent flying machines. I'd still rather have the PC12.
3100 is too much! Here at Newport we have 2900ft and we have king airs, navajos, Cessna 421, and the even a citation Mustang. But the thing is were 170 feet above sea level, and there is probably about 6000 feet, right?
That first clip was amazing! Looks like he maneuvered to avoid a bird strike. The Pilatus has some of the best aircraft lighting and an amazing turbine sound. Great video once again!
Airforceprnknkn
These are nice aircraft.
With a stall speed of 75 mph and a 1200hp turbo prop up front, these have excellent small field performance.
I am very proud that we manufacture such great aircraft in Switzerland that are popular and in use worldwide !
The gear is left down until 200 ft AGL because it takes 200 ft to extend them in a glide configuration. Single engine fun. I've got about 2500 hrs in the PC12. Great airplane.
great compilation mate love the winter shots the most thanks for sharing your great work

That still doesn’t explain why that one aircraft flew all the way out of view and never brought the undercarriage up.
Very nice video! Love the last approach! Must be a fantastic place to be :) Great scenery :) Good camerawork!
Excellent video once again and finished off with a nice touch of still shots at the end. I cant think of any thing better to do while in Nelson...except of coarse, capturing the King Airs! ;)

What a fantastic compilation! You know the way into the hearts of turboprop fans!
any information on why they left the gear down longer than normal?

One of my favorites aircrafts! Great video!

It was a tad late, looking at 2:23
Not to mention carrying capacity!
See these things all the time at the pilatus hub at KBJC, awesome aircraft!
Ya it is a fun airplane to fly. I've since moved on from the PC12 but I miss it every now and then. Great collection of vids... You got me in there more then once I am pretty sure.
I m dreaming of one.. very lovely compilation 👍👍
Awesome video and a great compilation of one of the greatest props out there!!
Winter coming back, better performances, nicer shots in the mountains! keep it up! great work!

My favourite plane! Very nice video. Would be a dream to fly these beauties.
Who disliked this? I love it! Pc12 is my 2nd favorite turboprop. (King air is 1st)
The typical haters in the networks. More or less a 5% of likes
awesome compilation. I don't see a lot of these here, so i enjoyed that :D
Cool, I love the Condensation from the prop on the first PC-12. You should my latest compliment, if you haven't yet.
Solid camera work...thanks for the video
Very good looking aircraft in my opinion
I love the PC-12 as well, one awesome turboprop.
That sure is one nice aircraft! Nice compilation man!
Awesome video as always.
Wow man that first picture was awesome!
Dude.....that is an awesome bird!!! Awesome video man!!!
Nice videos of a terrific turbo-prop.

Another awesome video!! But, I have a questions... hehehe

I like the high lift wing of the Pilatus
Beautiful, must be a joy to fly. 1200 HP TC P@W.
I saw the same thing in that video called King Air Compilation...

Awesome! I love the PC-12!
Amazing!!! so similar to my land Patatagonia, Argentina. Thank you!!!

am i the only one that notice the birds on the left at the first 10 seconds of the vid. was saying " dont move, dont move, dont move"
Great video.. Beautiful planes. Wonder why some kept the gear down so long.
Very good takes
Thanks for watching!

Wow! And yes, what's up with the downed LG all the way through the right departure?.... Kinda freaky indeed! Great vid, btw.
some great shots
Thanks!

David
over all, i like the pilatus company
i really love the pilatus, i want to buy one but they're way too expense, even if they're my favorite plane
All you have to do is make 10 million a year lol, yep don't guess I'm getting one either
Hi HDAVIATION,,, good nigth looking your spectacular video PILATUS PC 12 ,,, the fine lines of the body s aircraft,,, the colors, and the eleganc great Turbo Prop thanks,,,, your friend Oscar de Pachuca HGo Estados Unidos Mexicanos,,, l ll see your next video,,, so long,,,
... Although, on further review it looks like this crew may have just been a little behind the plane for this particular departure.
amazing airplane
Ya, the PC-12 is one of my favorites. Thanks for watching!
*****
Nice video man best plane ever!!! :D
Nice video ! Which Airport ?
Thanks! This is CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada.
Is there a reason you get so many PC-12's through there??
🐓🤒🍯⛈
I like the landing at 7:00
SanFranciscoBay PC 12 at it's finest.
Good video
cool!!!!
These freaking geese, they scare me to death every time

Skydivers at busy dropzones use the King Air and the Twin Otters as their primary jump planes.
Escape for Mankind is Keith Johnson Please tell me where you can get a PC12 for $3m?
Bellissimo ;)
OH Man...You make the best videos....thanx.allthough , the plane I`m not crazy about...
Willem P Thanks so much for the kind comment, I'm really glad you enjoy the videos!
Just gutta win the lottery
That is a 3,100ft runway.......not a problem for the Cessnas, but the turbine and twin guys have to bring their "A" game to this place..............
3100 is too much! Here at Newport we have 2900ft and we have king airs, navajos, Cessna 421, and the even a citation Mustang. But the thing is were 170 feet above sea level, and there is probably about 6000 feet, right?
runway length is just one component.......mountain terrain here is a huge factor....near sea level helps a lot......jets are taking a risk on 2,900ft
+LG Loffelmacher thank you
That's one sexy machine
oh hi
