I love the interior of this house, beautiful! I was amazed at the recessed lighting….and the thoughtfulness of having quarters for his staff that made them feel more at home that wasn’t common during that time.

I really liked the fact at how he treated the house staff not just putting the in some dormitory style but, individual rooms and some comforts of home life. Once again in seeing theses stories you see how much love is between husband and wife that when one dies it is not long after the other dies as well. One can not live with out the other.

As a Canadian (who lived in Montréal)… I love learning about Canadian history. Thanks for another short, but very interesting, history lesson. Cheers.

What a grand old mansion!! It's wonderful to know that it still exists today!!! Thanks for sharing another interesting video!!! 👍👍🙂

I especially loved the staircase. I’m glad that it is still standing today because these homes deserve to endure, even if the interiors have been changed. Ideally they’d be preserved as museums, but serving another purpose like this one is sounds much better than demolition!

Another beautiful mansion preserved. I wonder if the paintings still exists. As I love old mansions I'm very happy to see this.

I just realized a reason for my lack of success. I finished school. It seems the millionaires of history were smarter than 20th century kids. Good report, Ken.

I always appreciate, Ken, that you include modern day equivalents when it comes to pricing. It truly puts the amount of money into perspective.

100 years ago there was no sense of entitlement. We knew no work, no eat. That’s why you could have no education and become a millionaire.

Pink sandstone? quite remarkable! Good for him! Kudos to him!!! Intricate rococo details, a bit much for today's taste, but still quite amazing!! even if overdone! Heck, the whole house was my favorite, not just one room!

The stairs and stair hall are my favorite part although the house, it's design and execution and final result are probably one of nicest I've seen to date.
Wonderful to see it still mostly intact and living on in usefulness.
Thanks, Ken a very nice presentation 👍

So nice that it's been preserved!
But I always wonder, with all the paintings, furniture, & "Knick-knacks" - what happens to all of it?
Having watched all these homes demolished, what happens to the metals, wood, etc.?

Nice to see you do a house from Canada Ken! Some beautiful rooms and a grande facade ! Maybe you could check into Casa Loma in Toronto. Scottish castle brought over stone by stone and rebuilt! The original owner ran out of money before it was completed!

Now THAT is an Entrance Hall & Stair! I note so many of the Grand Homes featured lately, have the Stairs tucked away in a corner of a Foyer - unbecoming, at best - thank you for your efforts - much appreciated! A Grand Home, indeed ...

I love seeing these homes and although I find them fascinating I never think oh I wish this was mine. They’re always (or mostly, as it was the style back then) very dark in them. I feel very depressed if I’m in them to long!

I'm glad this old house still stands and is being used by the University. Unlike many old homes of stature, that have seen the wrecking ball.
I hope it is used for another generation to admire!
