    I might be wrong on this:
    1. Battery lightens up as it degrades. Lower capacity batteries start with less initial mass.
    2. They will weigh more if a PCB is added.
    3. Battery lightens up as it gets discharged.
    4. If the measure just the empty mass, we just have to measure the individual batteries we put into the light instead of first deducting the estimated value then adding the real value.
    5.But who'd even measure individual batteries, just give us any estimate, protected button-top 5000mAh fully charged or something.

      I do like dry weight.
      Batteries don't weigh different when charged or not nor when degraded. They weigh different with small size, wrap, and chemistry differences which often result in capacity differences.
      There are high capacity cells that weigh less than lower capacity, it isn't capacity that makes bats heavier, it is the chemistry and layers of wrap.

      If there is a weight change, it is immeasurable. Small amounts of grease from your fingers and reduction from scratching the contacts with your charger has much bigger effect when charging than anything a discharge can do.

    Nice find! Exactly what I was wondering about: the heat and the bulkiness. So many good lights...

    Not all 21700 battery weighs the same so to more accurately know the weight of the flashlight they use the weight without a battery. That's why they include the weight without a battery.

    • @flashlightcrazy
      @flashlightcrazy  11 месяцев назад +3

      Totally understand. But I still think they could give us the weight with the included battery. It would be a more useable metric than the weight without the battery because no one on earth uses a flashlight/torch without the battery.

  • @bx2633
    @bx2633 6 месяцев назад +1

    I think the practical reason they don't list the weight with the battery is because the variance in weight among batteries. That said, it's a minimal difference so I think they should list the weight with the battery

    I'm surprised you didn't show the smooth ramping mode, because in smooth ramping you can make it come on in moonlight from lockout instead of the last used output. This can save you from being blinded if high was the last used output. To make it come on at the moonlight level from lockout you must activate the moonlight level for a second or more while the light is locked, then unlock the light with either 2 or 3 clicks. 4 clicks won't work for this and this also doesn't work in stepped mode.

    Ive got enough slender lights. I bought it for the bulk, and boost driver. You want beef in a tactical light.
    And the fact you can now disable auto lock.

    Coz different brand/quality/capacity battery will have different weight. Simple as that
    And they do sell FL without battery.
    Same as power tools like drill/saw etc brand like DeWalt makita Milwaukee all weight without battery

    The 5000k version is brilliant for a cosy room ceiling bounce light plus crazy bright outdoors so I bought another of those and another 5000k SP33 V3 as that was even better for clarity of contrast when I put it against my brighter floodier SP33s. I love with these lights that you can switch to smooth ramping and ramp all the way up to turbo and then you can just one click to turbo. BAM! That 6500k is probably brighter but you lose the nice warm beam of the 5000k version. I just had to buy another especially as they are so cheap on offer.

    But I wanted to know what it weighs on the moon without the battery and with one and then subtract the numbers to see the weight. Kidding. Love your channel. I just got the Sofirn 08 Plus yesterday and have 2 more coming. I may buy this one also after seeing this. "Weigh" to Go, Mate hehe.

    Apparently the auto-lockout can be disabled. I found a comment in reddit somewhere saying "Press the button four times to on/off that feature, bro..."
    Can someone confirm this?

    • @craigs7181
      @craigs7181 Год назад +1

      Yes, that is correct. All you need to do is unlock the light with 4 clicks. If you want to re-enable the auto-lock, you lock the light with 4 clicks and then unlock it with either 2 or 3 clicks.

    The weight without battery is just marketing to make the loght sound lighter than it is. Uts stupid that they do it, but here we are.

      well different batteries weigh differently so it makes sense to only tell the weight without one

    • @craigs7181
      @craigs7181 Год назад

      No it's not. I have several lights that can run either an 18650, 21700, or 26650. The SC33 can work with a high quality 18650 in a pinch because it has springs at both the head and tail or a 21700. I just tried it and it worked fine. And Sofirn sells the light both with and without a battery. A good quality 18650 can weigh 44 to 50 grams and a good quality 21700 can weigh 68 to 75 grams. So just add 49g for an 18650 cell and 70g for a 21700 and that will get you close for any light that only lists the weight of the light without a battery.

  • @scotscheideman9800

    Take a deep breath, count to ten!!!! The battery thing is because,,, believe it or not, batteries can vary in weight, way more than you would guess! Most extreme in the 18650's but also present in 21700's.

    • @flashlightcrazy
      @flashlightcrazy  Год назад +1

      Totally need to take a breath haha. But why cant they give you the weight with the battery they supply? To me that is more accurate than just the weight without the battery because none of us use our lights without the battery, so it feels to me that the weight without the battery is completely redundant

    • @scotscheideman9800
      @scotscheideman9800 Год назад +1

      @@flashlightcrazy I completely agree with you, even if they have to add - *(weight may vary 2g+/-due to battery variations) cause Sofirn, Wurkkos,Convoy etc, sell their batteries for so cheap , they must be grabbing them from many sources-(cheapest bidder each quarter) Fenix, Acebeam, Thrunite and especially O-light should have consistent weight considering what they charge for their batteries

      I just got one, you can deactivate the auto lock with the new batch. You have to click the tail cap 4 times in the off position while the light is off, auto lock will remain off until the battery is disconnected.
