    😢 that is not good, and typical that it happened with the PC and not a standard bottle. Muslin is a good filter.

    You were talking about SMWS. I joined for a year and dropped my membership just a few months ago when I did not renew. The price to quality ratio was just not there in my opinion.
    On average I bought one bottle of month for 12 months but I had $130 renewal fee. It was just too rich for my blood. I just couldn’t justify the ask.

      It can become very overwhelming with how many releases they offer

    Have 2 of the Hazelburn 15 CS. Delicious reminds me of the Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask alot actually. Also have both of the experimental 10 year Olds. Afraid to open them cause the value shot through the roof. I got um for 120 and 129 euros. They are selling for 500 to 600. Pure insanity guys.

    Rob, seriously, unless you have unusual poor sensitivity, if your palate cant feel a glass piece, it's safe to drink.

    11:40 whiskey filtering can indeed have a pretty big impact on flavor. Not the same thing, but I was once given a jar of moonshine that was incredibly could & murky. Clearly it was done shoddily, but I didn't have to pay for it. Tasted it anyway, it was very bitter but I could detect the corn deep within however slight. So I poured the shine through activated charcoal in a paper coffee filter, and it cleared it right up. And the flavor was dramatically improved to boot with only a hint of the bitterness. Not perfect but far better. This is a bit extreme but yet it can affect flavor for sure.

    I think coffee drinkers talk about white paper filters do affect the taste.

      With any limited release that's in high demand, the best way to try it would be to purchase a bottle at auction and split it with as many people as possible. Cheers

    Great video guys. I can’t believe I picked a 10yr PX over the Hazelburn 15. I got caught up in the PX hype!

      @SippersSocialClub  7 месяцев назад +1

      That's ok, just sell the PX and get 2 hazelburns :)

      The Springbank Society release? I think we covered it on one of the whisky rant podcasts, but not a formal review (maybe Rob did?) It was Jan 2021

    Rob seems like such a nice guy; what the hell did he do to piss off the Springbank shipping gods? Great story and good on y'all for doing your best to save the juice. Cheers!

      What's your score?

      @SippersSocialClub I mean the system. Hazelburn 10 is as good as SB10 palo cortado? Really? The value adds another subjective level that complicates it. Why not just rate the liquid and have value be separate?

    • @SippersSocialClub
      @SippersSocialClub  7 месяцев назад

      @@kamahhl You can't assume a SB limited bottling is any better than a core-range release. As we've talked about before.. finishing casks are sometimes used to hide sub-par whisky. Not saying that's what's happening here, but so far I've been pretty let down by the first two bottles, so yeah.. a Hazelburn 10 can out drink it.
