This video popped up in my feed, I’m 1 minute and very excited because our families are so similar. Total coincidence, my name is also Meagan, but pronounced with the May sound instead of Meh. Anyway, I’m also a mama of 6, all boys, ages 12 down to 2. After diving in…..I definitely agree with so much of what was said. The part I’m struggling with is the actual structuring of our rhythm.. We desperately need that structure, because we’ve been surviving through the chaos of unstructured days as I’ve been trying to plan and prepare, and some aspects are easier than others, but with so many moving parts and only one of me, trying to figure out a flow, particularly at the points where we diverge from group learning, is hanging me up. We just finished our first week of school, I decided last minute to change our math and still sorting that out, plus getting a grip on other changes.
I love your point of routine and expectation--those two are so important to get the flow going for homeschool. Knowing what to expect and what is expected of me is very comforting for a child. Gives them a sense of security. 💕💕
I love the idea of doing a easing in to the family subject!!! I love the idea of using a co op for a subject. We like year round homeschooling so that we don’t get behind and we also travel tons.
Megan, your speaking and presentation is SO GOOD! You are easy and comforting to listen to, you are so clear and organized in your content. Man, love this video, friend!
Just found your channel and love it! We’ve got an 11 year old and 9 year old boy, 7 and 6 year old girl, 3 and 1 year old boy, so very similar ages so these videos have been helpful, (I’m also pregnant with number 7!!)
Great video and ideas. We love family subjects! Something we do since we live in the Midwest with cold winter come Jan and Feb we do school in Sat/Sun when the kiddos are bored. This helps fill in gaps. Have a great week!
Thank you for just sharing wisdom on the schedule/rhythm of your homeschooling days! Feeling a little out of whack as I just don’t know what things will look like when we kick back off this coming year with a newborn (and I am trying not to worry about it! ☺️). Your video is definitely encouraging. Yes for having a routine during the summer - lazy days are hard and chaotic I totally agree hahah!
Hello Megan!! Can you tell me more about the video lessons for Saxon, where do you purchase, is for all grades?...all about it. I need something like that I’m homeschooling 5 kids and math is not my thing:/:) plus I need more time in the day:) Thanks and have a blessed day !!
What about when you have curriculum that's four or five days a week? For instance, my daughter does Apologia science that's four days a week and sonlight for history that's five days a week.
We do MFW which is very much like Sonlight. So we do history 4-5 days a week. It’s mostly read aloud format so we even listen to the audiobook versions if we’re driving somewhere. As for apologia we do that as well. We also have the audiobook of the textbook so we have been listening to the chapter for the week in the car and discuss as we listen. Then we pick just a couple of experiments and a couple of workbook/activities. It has worked very well for us.
Hi! I have a question, how did you get your son diagnosed with dyslexia? I suspect that one of my boys has dyslexia, but I am not sure how to go about getting him the help he needs. TIA!
@@anastasiaobannan6646 We used DIVE which is put out by saxon this past year but we are doing a free trial with Nicole the Math Lady to see if that's what we want to use for next year. So far we really like it.
I think we could all chalk it up to being the moments in the day when tots pursue their curiosities using their brightest ideas 😂 mom of two tots here!
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! Momma of six 7, 5, 4, 2, (one promoted to heaven at 17 weeks in my belly), 1 and one coming in March!

“Throw Instagram pictures out the window” quote of the day 💗
Amen to the completely clinging to Jesus to get through it all!
Yes so true! 🙂 When I have days of laziness I then realize I don't actually like those days either.

"...our HOME'S routine." I love it. Yes!

I only have one child but you have given some great advice that applies to all.
We do thrive with routine as well
Please share what you use for coding!
Routine thriver here, too! 🙋🏼♀️ I love that you keep expectations realistic, though. That is SO pertinent with a lot of kids!!! ❤❤
realistic expectations for sure. It does not always go smoothly
Yes no one could do this without the strength of the Lord!!!!
Great video and ideas.

Loved this. Thanks❤
One of the biggest questions is about doing it with different aged kids! Thanku
We do structure with flexibility our day just flows better.
Now I'll watch the links❤
We definitely thrive having structured days, but with balance, not too rigorous but not so flexible that things will go all over the place.
Jesus🙌❤ All that gets me through too.🙂
I sooooooo needed this. I was having a very hard time planning out my days and this is so Helpful. Thank you!
When do you cook and clean? What if you have hard pregnancies and getting up early is hard? And you need a nap each day?
The video lessons for Saxon are great!
Thank you for this video! So helpful
Where can I go online to see a sample of the Saxon videos!? I’ve stayed away from Saxon because I didn’t think there were videos and I need that!!!
Those are some good tips!
Thanks so much for this video

Great video, I’m not seeing Wendy’s homeschool planner on her Instagram or website. It’s hard to find a good one can you share that info, thanks!!!
Good question, Megan. How do you fit it all in?!?!?
Thanks so much for sharing this!!
Mischief makers 🤣💗

yes yes JESUS is definitely the solution to a wonderful homeschooling flow!!🙌🏾
my toddler is all over the place, lol
What Saxon level your child is doing in 5th grade?
You need to do the placement exam. Typically your child will either place in 5/4 or 6/5
@@PenniesAndSalt which videos you use as supplement: Math Lady or other ones?

I can't do structure it drives me crazy...like I can't do that because we have to be doing this..nope no structure..my kids are fine...
That's the beauty of homeschooling 😊 We can do it the way it works best for our families.
Toddlers disruption what is that 😉

Throw IG pictures out the window 🙌🏼🙌🏼 YESSSS! It’s not real life!
