    Wow good job man! Thanks for the vid. It really helped a lot. I'm really surprised at the the water output. I thought that because the holes were so small and the inlet for the air was so small. You were going to have a small amount of water come up. But I was completely wrong. I'm actually pretty amazed to be honest.

    Like ALL the other people who were new to this...or were struggling with it...i thank you DEARLY for the education... /i am trying to make one that will suck up water from the shallow water in my bucket...up to a DIY drip ring...i made one like yours,...out of things i had around the house..but its not perfect.. it cannot move water from low to high...you gotta kinda tilt it so that it doesnt have to work as hard...and is closer to the top of the water...
    i have an idea that will make this WAY more effective. First off have ALLL the parts this gent has...but my idea is to add a SECOND pressure chamberi thought i was smart and could make an outer pressure chamber that was bigger...blowing thru a smaller hole to up the output to make this thing WAY more powerful...but looking at the parts...you can only make the pressure chambers the same size.only diff is one is 25 mm and the bigger one 30mm....so i think the determining factor to UP the power on this thing...is to have the main air in 5mm...then the hole between pressure chambers..3mm..so that there is a significant build up of pressure..So instead of using a 10 CM for the main one..i may use 2 12 cm ones.. but ALL my problems are TOTALLY solved now Thanks to YOU good sir so... thanks for inspiring me with your AWESOME build man!!!!

    Thank you very much! I've just built my first HMF and I'm testing it right now. I didn't have the tools to make the jet compressor but I'll add it because my flow is not as strong as yours. While building it I had an idea: do using a wider opening (something like a bell) where the bubbles are generated, could increase the amount of water sucked into the tube creating a higher pressure and even more flow?
    Actually I tried it yesterday using a empty bottle I found home. It didn’t work. Actually the “bell” makes it incredibly noisy because the bubbles hit it and increase the noise.
    Then I did another one using a simple thin pipe and instead of the jet I simply put the air tube inside, punched some holes in it and it works awesome. I’ll share some photos and videos of it :)

    is 400l/h your maximum flow rate with the 4W/200mbar air pump or does the size and length of the pipe play a role? What do you think you would need in terms of pump and tubing to achieve a flow rate of 2000l/h (i.e. for a 400l aquarium). Is there a formula?
    and last but not least thank you very much for sharing this!! very well done.

    • @TerrarienAquarienBerlin
      @TerrarienAquarienBerlin  7 лет назад +3

      Hello Iain Morrison, thank you very much.
      With this version of a 20mm airlift, you have a maximum capacity of 35 cm = 600 l / h.
      Data sheet 20 TLH
      design:
      -Outer diameter of the tube 20 mm
      -Tube inner diameter 18 mm
      -Sleeve height 50 mm from 32 mm pipe
      -4/6 air connection screwed 90 degrees
      -Possible lengths from 20 cm to 35 cm
      output:
      Max. Conveying capacity at 35 cm = 600 l / h
      Max. Conveying capacity at 30 cm = 550 l / h
      Max. Conveying capacity at 25 cm = 500 l / h
      Max. Conveying capacity at 20 cm = 450 l / h
      Min. Capacity (all lengths) = approx. 30 l / h
      With a 32 mm airlift you have a maximum capacity at 50 cm = 1500 l / h
      Datasheet 32er TLH
      The Czech airlift was tested with a 350 l / h pump.
      design:
      -Outer diameter of pipe 32 mm
      -Tube inner diameter 29 mm
      -Sleeve height 65 mm from 40 mm tube
      -4/6 air connection screwed 90 degrees
      -Possible lengths from 35 cm to 50 cm
      output:
      Max. Conveying capacity at 50 cm = 1500 l / h
      Max. Conveying capacity at 45 cm = 1400 l / h
      Max. Conveying capacity at 40 cm = 1300 l / h
      Max. Conveying capacity at 35 cm = 1200 l / h
      Min. Capacity (all lengths) = approx. 80 l / h
      You can use 2 airlift at the same time to double the flow.

      Hi Thank you for the prompt reply, one last question, what are the details of the air pump used in the tests. I have a 2X200 l/h, 200mbar EHEIM. Is this enough to achieve the results you outlined?

    • @TerrarienAquarienBerlin
      @TerrarienAquarienBerlin  7 лет назад +1

      Hello Iain Morrison,
      I currently use an air compressor for my Jetlifts.
      I used to have an Eheim 400 with 200mbar. This works well, but the pumps become weaker over a longer period of time.

    • @morrisoniain
      @morrisoniain 7 лет назад +1

      Hi what make / model is your air compressor? Sounds very interesting but all the models I've seen are either overpowered or way too load for me.

  • @PsychoFisho

    Newer powerheads are every efficient, and produce more flow per watt then any lift tube, including this curved tube with pipe wall air injection. Plus, powerheads are more quiet at the same capacity of flow. The only drawback to powerheads is that they produce induce some heat to the water, from both the impeller and the motor, compared to air injection. If you wanted your output to occur lower in the the tank, or to direct water current downward at a certain angle, you are severely limited compared to a powerhead.

    • @markmmm1737
      @markmmm1737 6 лет назад +3

      At this scale true, however if you scale this up to pond size then that's when they become crazy efficient. Pumping 5000gph only using 40 watts is easy and then doesn't require separate aeration.

    Hello sir nice video it's very simple method of setting to water flowing good video but tell me what types of tank size want to require to best motor and I expected nature air setting not electronic motor how to set the nature air because of fish want to good oxygen therefor I asking tell me sir it's my request...thanking you.

    • @TerrarienAquarienBerlin
      @TerrarienAquarienBerlin  6 лет назад

      Hello, I am very happy about your request
      With a 20 mm diameter tube, lengths from 20 cm to 35 cm are possible.
      Max. output at 35 cm = 600 l / h
      Max. output at 30 cm = 550 l / h
      Max. output at 25 cm = 500 l / h
      Max. output rate at 20 cm = 450 l / h
      Min. output rate (all lengths) = approx. 30 l / h
      It certainly depends on which fish are cared for in the Aquarium and how much water you want to turn.
      In general, a circulation of the aquarium water from 2 to 3 times an hour is recommended sometimes more. For example if you have a 100 liter aquarium you should pump at least 200 to 300 liters per hour.
      You need a good pump to reach these levels. You will not reach the values if you have a weak pump and an efficient air lift, or a weak air lift and a powerful pump.
      For best results I use an air compressor check my latest Video:
      Low Noise Air Pump | Resun LP-60 | Infos & Test
      ruclips.net/video/502MO1vrcok/видео.html
      A small diaphragm pump with 200 mbar is enough to reach 400 l / h.
      I hope I could help you.
      Greetings from Berlin

    I have one question: After a few days running my brand new HMF inside an already established tank (I let both the old filter and the HMF one running together. Then I removed the old one), I noticed that biofilm is forming on the surface of the water inside the filter because it's very quiet there. Is it normal? Should I remove it?

    • @TerrarienAquarienBerlin
      @TerrarienAquarienBerlin  5 лет назад +1

      Ahoy Almarma! That is normal. If only a small area is affected, there is no danger. What you can do is use duckweed or add a small air stone. I have the best experience with a slightly broken airlift. Just drill a small hole in the sealing to allow small bubbles rise to the surface. I hope I could help a bit.

    Sehr gutes Video. ruclips.net/video/uZqBrVIWZLI/видео.html in diesem Video wird empfohlen die Löcher in einer Spirale anzuordnen. Hab es selber noch nicht getestet.

      Sehr guter Hinweis, also vom ersten Eindruck fällt mir auf, dass er "nur" 20 Löcher bohrt. Von der Performance her sehe ich keinen maßgeblichen Unterschied, warum das besser sein soll kann er selber auch nicht erklären ;)
      Ich werde diese Variante mal testen, vergleichen und ein Video dazu hochladen.
      Danke für den Kommentar :)

    If you know how to breed fish, you should make videos about that. There are no good videos on that subject.
