I’m a big fan of the smaller lesser talked about wood coasters, white lightning amazing, blue streak underrated. I love these kind of rides. I prefer wood to steel, I love the little imperfections and how no 2 wood coasters are the same, they all have a personality
It really depends on the day how this coaster runs. It is at my homeparks and I had all kinds of rides on this, but the best were at warm summer days in the evening, then every bunnyhop gives airtime. The Park overhault the trains just before this season, before that you also had seatbelts on this ride. It is not even close to the other El Toro, but at least this one isn't SBNO ;) Are you gonna do a Freizeitpark Plohn park review? Great video as always
Nice review :) I really like that you mention both feet and meters, as well as mph and kph. May I ask that you do the same when it comes to temperatures? Cheers :)
Honestly seeing the POVs you posted, the ride looks like a riot. Would be funny if they called it Der Stier or something to honor its German heritage lol
I made a marathon with this coaster this week riding it close almost 40 times. I have to disagree with some things. Especially the airtime on the bunny hills. I was at the front and back row. I always felt the lap bar holding me here before slaming back into the seat. The train was empty and it was early in the morning. 3 riders total. On my onride you see when my upper body (or hair on my 360° video) lifted up because of all the airtime. I got a lot of hate for saying this: But I think this is more intense and better than Wodan and so far my favourite wooden rollercoaster in germany. I kinda have the feeling, that something was off on your visit. Maybe next time it will run better for you, I hope so at least :)
its my home park an di gotta say, it flys through its layout when its rly warm like 30 C. outside. On the other hand on this years halloween event at 2° C. it was so freaking slow, you rly feel the difference. on my best rides it got very very strong floater over every single hill. Also they can varied the lift chain speed wich can give you an extra boost
It may not be the Great Adventure El Toro (yeah, not even close) but it's still a fun ride. I personally don't find GCIs super good in general but this still looks fun. Maybe if it just had stronger airtime and laterals, it would be much better but I think this is a good family thrill at the park.
Classic example of a ride that could be extremely fun, if the First Drop would be just a few feet taller and steeper, so the overall ride would be a bit faster. Same applies to the wooden coaster at tripsdrill.
Seems a shame you got quite mediocre rides. I was on a very similar trip to you this summer and got it on a scorching day in early August. It seemed pretty quick to me and those 4 hills in a row all delivered. I have it only a few spots below Joris in my wood rankings, and ahead of both Heidi and Wicker Man. Be interested how you compare it to those?
I much prefer Joris. That ride gave the quick pops of airtime I wanted. Heidi had barely any airtime for me, which surprised me since White Lightning delivers.
@@CanobieCoasterYeah I agree Joris was better, I rode that on a damp day last October so probably still had far more to give. Also I have nowhere near your count for comparison, which makes them fairly close in that sense. I'm back at Plopsaland later this week so will see if Heidi is any better... but won't waste too much time on it with RTH sitting there. Lol.
@@CanobieCoaster Really? I Iike Heidi better than Joris. I had great airtime, every pop had me out of my seat. Joris on the other hand didn't do much for me. But rides can differ so much because when I went to plopsaland it was a hot summer day and last time I went to Efteling it was a colder day with rain so that could be the reason why.
I feel like the main reason it is on the weaker and tamer end of GCI´s spectrum could be down to it being intended as a family coaster. I mean, east Germany has only 2 mayor Parks, Belantis at the time only had the Gerstlauer Bobsled and El Toro was only the 3rd Coaster for Plohn, with the other 2 being the Wacky Worm and a Zierer Flitzer, going with a more intense ride probably would have had the potential to scare away Families from the coaster making it more of a failure. For both the Park and overall area at the time it was IMO a great choice to go with this very family friendly ride. On a side note, El Toro used to have operator that also worked as a DJ on the side and the Park allowed him to pretty much play whatever music he wanted, the Station was a absolute Party Zone at that time.
Even something like InvadR at Busch Gardens Williamsburg which is targeted more towards families packs a bigger punch. I agree they didn't want this to be super intense, but I was expecting a little more in the airtime department on par with that ride.
1:07 The poor kid in the front was expecting the other El Toro
Lol
Which El Toro coaster did you like more, Six Flags Great Adventure or Freizeitpark Plohn, why?
The Great Adventure one. It has far stronger airtime and it's more intense.
There's El Toro, and then there's El Toro!
Yup!
“We have El Toro at home.”
Yup!
Eltoro at six flags great adventure sucks
Me: I want El Toro.
Mom: We have El Toro at home.

Yes, the park review will be tomorrow. That's good to know on the trains! I'm not surprised it can run faster on warmer days.
I'd like to try these El Toro trains on the Great Adventure El Toro!
That would be crazy.
@@CanobieCoaster Why?

I can try to remember that in the future!
I marathoned this coaster (didn’t have the long wait you did). It’s small but I enjoyed the many little pops of airtime throughout.
I wish I had lower crowds like that.
Honestly seeing the POVs you posted, the ride looks like a riot. Would be funny if they called it Der Stier or something to honor its German heritage lol
The western name makes sense given the theme in the area.

A few people have commented it seemed to run slow for me. I gave it a few hours to warm up, but it was a cooler day.
Do you like the GCI millennium flyer trains and the lap bars on all coasters that use them?
I like those trains in general.

When the ride is smooth, yes.

That's good to know they can vary the chain to give it a boost. I think I got something in between the warm and cool rides you mentioned.
@@CanobieCoaster also in dynamite the have a boost Mode, where the lift accelerates at the top
Also I knew i woukd find you here @Tommy Coaster

I agree it's still a solid ride, but it just didn't have the same punch (outside of the first third) as GCI's other coasters.
Would you like to go again to Freizeitpark Plohn?
Yes

True! Except this one is much closer to being a great ride than Mammut.
Great review! Can you review American Eagle at SFGAm??
I don't have immediate plans to review that one due to limited rides and footage.
@@CanobieCoaster ah gotcha. I enjoy all things SFGAm!
Do you like El Toro and El Toro?
Do you prefer El Toro to El Toro?
I like the New Jersey one better.
Yaasss come thruu 💪🏻
Enjoy!
While it might not be as good as the El Toro overseas, it’s still a fairly good ride.
I agree NJ's El Toro is still supreme.
At least our El Toro at Germany isn't SBNO haha
@@Paul-dh7yx lol
It is the best El Toro currently in operation though.
Lol

1:56 most? Are there some without this problem?
I can't speak on Zambezi, but some rides have airtime strong enough they can overcome a super tight restraint (ex. 2nd half of GhostRider).

I still remember when he stopped the train on the brakerun, and only let it in the station when the whole train clapped to the beat haha
Good times...
Also Not to mention that Plohn in general is a very family oriented Park, then even more then today
WHAT WOULD YOU RATE HAUNTED MANSION OUTOF 10? DISNEY
Probably a 9
from what i can tell from your vids, this ran pretty slow for you. i've been a month ago and it was hauling as!
That's why I wanted to state the conditions when I rode it. I'm glad it can run a bit better on warmer days.
After hearing you have to listen to country music for most of the queue line it looks like I will never ride this coaster
Maybe go on a quiet day then to avoid a line?
haha wild western by zitronsoubnd. please review that song, not a coaster/
Not reviewing songs, but it was perfect for the background.
What is this phoney El Toro. Just kidding this coaster looks pretty good more parks should get this GCI.
It sounds like it ran slow for me, but it's a solid layout.
tHE OTHER ELTORO LOL
