I had the apex pro tkl for years now updating to the 2023 one. Never seen any issues with the switches. Just a snapped leg at the back and the screen smashed from punching it over and over again. Very robust keyboard. Iv hammered it with my fist numerous time. I recently hammered it till my hand was bleeding, some kid on fortnite chased me all around loot lake. I rifted 3 times and he followed me for like 10 minutes and when i finally dropped he killed me. As you can imagine i punched my keyboard with a hammer fist as hard as i could and threw my chair across my room. It took the real beating. Bet i couldnt do that with the razer!! I personally dont think the 2023 one looks as good with its square design but hey..If its a little better then cool. It arrives today.
Was on sale at my local store so I bought this instead of the huntsman v3 pro. I also added the foam and lubed the stabilizer. Too bad you can’t change rgb without the software but hey at least you can save custom actuation point and not be bothered with the software again.
If anyone sees this, DO NOT buy the wireless version of this keyboard. It's overpriced and most of them have charging problems as well as other issues. Mine didn't work properly right out of the box. I switched it for the wired version and I am very happy now. It's actually a really great keyboard.
Just putting this out there for anyone looking at reviews considering this keyboard. Lights started dying before the 1 month mark. A year later half of my keyboard is the wrong color.
obviously it doesnt make you better at super gliding instantly, but i was curious if you have tried comparing super gliding on this keyboard and on another and if you can tell a difference (apex legends)
I have an older model of the Apex pro (wired version, 100% model) and would really like to do the foam mod but I'm really worried that I will damage the PCB someway no matter how careful I am. Could some experienced modder tell me how sensitive is that PCB to damage such as static electricity? I know I'm overthinking a bit and there's always a slight risk no matter what mod you do but since I'm a complete noob at this I would appreciate some feedback to put some of my worries to rest. Thank you for the very informative video btw, really enjoyed your editing and overall style of this video. Subbed!
@@leizerg Thanks for the reply! I've already replaced the keycaps with the prism caps from steelseries (the older model did not have PBS keycaps as stock and the ABS ones felt much oilier and slippery compared to these PBS ones that I really enjoy). I purchased a new APEX PRO TKL. It is 2 weeks and now I face this strange issue. When I connect the Keyboard, it is randomnly typing on windows. On Windows, it open some apps randomnly. Even when I am not pressing any keys, it is randomnly typing something. The apps on windows gets closed and open randonmnly. It is doing something on its own. I have no idea what to do.... I removed all keys manually and checked if something is stuck and did cleaning, but this also did not help. Anyone faced same issues? Any hints to solve this problem is helpful.
Steelseries products are so hit and miss. Their quality control is terrible, but I still buy all their products because when they work , they work good. I would say you probably have a faulty keyboard. Contact SS support and open a ticket. This is why I ALWAYS buy a replacement warranty from the store I purchase from, especially SS products since they are prone to fail.
It's a problem with the firmware. It started happening when the rapid trigger update was released. I'm currently in the process of getting a replacement board from SteelSeries. After several emails with photos of the board they said they could give me a coupon code for the value of my board or just do a replacement. Had to wait over a month for the TKL 2023 to be back in stock on their website to continue to the next step, which is destroying the USB port on the board and scratching out all but the last 4 digits of the serial number. Contact support and follow instructions very carefully. If you make any mistakes or skip steps they can void the ticket and you may be out of luck.

Unless you purposefully flex and break it you’re fine. Those pcbs are made like tanks. Just be a little more careful than usual and you’re fine.

how much does the keyboard weigh? because i wanted to know if it slides around while you game or type.
960 grams. Had no issue with sliding but it also depends on what you put it on - wood, cloth etc.
is the vulcan 121 aimo better than this keyboard i don't know which one to buy between these two?

I would like to know if it is possible to disable RGB and leave only the light to illuminate the letters on the keyboard.
Im pretty sure it’s the same light
If I was going to work on working it to make it more quiet after paying 150 dollars. I would kill myself
Wow that’s harsh :)
Are all the switches hot swappable?
No, they’re soldered to the PCB. You cannot change the switches physically
So the on board memory doesn’t support the config profiles? That is crazy lmao steelseries needs to do better.
It does but it doesn’t store RGB settings
It does
The RGB thing is an instant dealbreaker for me. Being forced to run spyware in the background just for a simple color change is ridiculous
Yeah it’s kind of irritating. No idea why they can’t just let us save it to profile.
