For people who don't have advents; they also work so well for individual beautiful skeins you bought with no real plans. This is also a note to myself 😅
I've watched all of your videos over the past few weeks to get me through the (three colours in a row colourwork) Snow Dress by Knitting for Olive - so thank you for keeping me company 😄 At the moment I am working on the second sleeve and desperate to knit something new and fun so in my head I am matching stash yarn to a bunch of the patterns from this video!
What a great project round up! So much inspo! Another great option that is on my list as a potential advent sweater is the funfetti pullowver by Andrea Gaughan.
Thank you for compiling this comprehensive list of sweaters! I have a few advents from previous years that I have wanted knit into sweaters but have been too lazy to figure out which ones will work for them.
Working on the Amy Sweater by Petiteknit as I watch this (in de rerum natura gilliatt), and feeling so inspired to try colorwork for my next project! Thank you for the amazing project roundup!
Novice knitter, and I didn't buy an advent this year. I did work on my Easton Striped Pullover while watching. Tomorrow is my birthday, and my husband bought me yarn last week for said birthday. Almost done with the front panel now, thanks to your video!
Thank you so much for sharing such a creative pattern roundup! I’ve been wanting to make more sweaters with advents instead of blankets, but most advent roundups are for blankets. While watching, I’ve been knitting on my Piet Sweater using yarn from Yarnaceous’ Cup of Cheer Kit she did last Christmas. 🎄 ❤
Exactly! Don't get me wrong, blankets and shawls are so cozy, but I really wanted to get a garment out of yarn I spent so much money on 😅 Hope you love your Piet sweater-- it's such a beautiful pattern!
this is such a good pattern round up! i have been wanting to do a scrappy sweater project and this has given me so many things to think about. thanks so much :)
For some reason knitting a colorwork sweater with scraps is extra satisfying 😌 I'm knitting a lumme sweater, using a bunch of leftover yarns, and I think I like it extra because of that lol
It's soooo hard for me to visualize how colors will look in a project so i love your tips on searching for patterns! there's no physical way i can knit 20 sweaters next year but your sweater ideas are giving me some major inspo 🤩
I so feel you! I really appreciate people who upload their project photos on ravelry cause it is a treasure trove of inspo ❤️ happy to hear this video also gave you inspo!
i have a particular fondness for all-over colorwork despite not making one of my own yet, so this is a lovely compliation to consult for future projects! im still working on my tweed star sweater, though ive finally reached the ribbing of the body! accidentally knit a size too small for my preferences though :( it'll fit, but it wont be very baggy. im hoping i'll be able to sort out the size to make it fit better when blocking. i did that before when one of my raglans had sleeves that were a tad too short for my arms and it worked out beautifully :) wishing you luck on your advent project, and that you hopefully manage to complete the yoke this year lmao
Ahh that's happened to me before too-- but blocking did come to the rescue! I don't usually pin my knits... except when I want them to really grow and stretch lol. I hope blocking gives you your desired measurements for the sweater! Maybe 2025 will be the year for your first all over colorwork sweater 🤞🏽 I cast some on last year, but I think this year is the first year I technically finished them lol
literally just came from the discord after casting on the backpiece for my cozyribbon knit sweater today! finished thee italian bind off on my cardigan no9 while watching this lovely film
Absolutely loving this video Mili! 🙌🏾 I'm not doing an advent but I am knee deep into my colourwork era and this is such good inspiration. Especially for scraps. I appreciate that you also included examples from knitters along with the designer photos. I just added like 10 to my "to knit" list from this 😂 the fortunas wheel pullover is high on my list. Also eyeing the Tonnach cardigan 😍
Seriously, the knitters of ravelry are the real ones 😭 If it weren't for people sharing their advent or scrappy versions, I would not have thought to knit many of these patterns this way. It really expands the possibilities!
you have such a good eye for patterns and especially how to customize them i really appreciate all the effort u put into your videos!!! do you think in the future you could include the specific projects you mention in a bundle as well? idk if that feels too weird since they're like. random non-creators haha and i can definitely just go look for them :)
I am currently knitting the Trove sweater and was going to suggest the Trove for an advent knit. I'm using my handspun instead, but I think it would be perfect with a more tonal advent.

you can count me in that boat too 😂
I love videos like this. Thank you so much. I hope you do another one like this in a year

Thanks for the sweater pattern inspo. I'm glad you included some smaller designers.
No prob! I'm an unashamed petite knit stan but also love discovering emerging designers too 😌
this is amazing, thank you. I prefer making garments and have a hard time visualizing how an advent would work in those, so this was super helpful!
That's exactly why I wanted to put this together, I felt the same way 😅
What a great project round up! So much inspo! Another great option that is on my list as a potential advent sweater is the funfetti pullowver by Andrea Gaughan.
Aww that one is so cute! I like how you get some break rows in that pattern lol
I've also added it to the ravelry bundle so others can see it too-- so thank you for sharing 🥰
@@whatsmilimaking YES! That's why I love it as a pattern, because it's all over colorwork, but you do get breaks in there.
I've never done an advent but I love any colourful pattern inspo! I'll be returning to this a lot for ideas. Thank you! ☺️🥰
There's soo many good color work patterns here 🤭 I already wanna knit some next year lol
Thank you for compiling this comprehensive list of sweaters! I have a few advents from previous years that I have wanted knit into sweaters but have been too lazy to figure out which ones will work for them.
Hopefully you you find some patterns that work for them! 🤞🏽 Honestly, if all else fails, you can always knit something striped lol

Top notch yarn + pattern combo 👌 Color work is soo fun, I'm fully in support of picking one for your next cast on 🤭

Aww that is so lovely!! Hope you had a happy, happy birthday 🤗 And happy knitting with your birthday yarn!

Thank you! I’m loving it so far! 🥰 I’m almost done knitting the body! 🥳 Can’t wait to see what you make! 🤗

Great inspiration! I worked on the Piet sweater while watching.
What a coincidence-- someone else commented saying they worked on theirs too 🤭 but then again, it is such a cheery & fun knit, so I'm not surprised!

Your sweater is already looking so beautiful 😍 Also hope you enjoy your cardigan no 9!! It's been my most worn knit this fall
I’m currently making the Fortuna’s Wheel sweater (not with advent yarn) and I’d love to see your version!
I've been seeing more and more people knit it lately, and they all look so good 😍

I dont even have an advent but I freakin loved this video, thank you for the inspiration ❤
Yay! The beauty of most of these patterns is the endless ways they can be knit 😌

I can only imagine how beautiful it looks with the hand spun 😍
