Great video guys! looks like you had a kick ass time over there. I'm headed to that same ranch this year and was wondering what dates you guys were there? I'm trying to choose my best date options for animals/weather and of course work schedule. Hope to hear from ya!
August-September You’re going to want to go during deer season. For Elk look at the high country. They bed up in the junipers up high really early so get out at least an hour before first light. The Antelope are pretty abundant in the open plains out there. You’re just going to have to cover quite a bit of ground to find them. They group together in large herds out there. You find one you’ll find them all. They have a habit of circling perceived threats so don’t rush. If they wind you or start taking off before you have a clear shot, be patient, 9 times out of 10 rather than fully evading they’ll circle to your back giving you the possibility of another shot so don’t rush. Take your time and get a good shot. The deer are in an amazing abundance out there. No joke, regret not getting deer tags too cause we saw on average 50-60 deer a day. Plenty of which in the 200-300 yard range and some ALOT closer. So if possible wait until deer season.
Get out there early. The Elk were bedding as early as an hour after sun up. So start finding your highest point to glass from about 2 hours before first light so you’re able to see any movement the second the sun starts to go up. Also, after 8 days of chasing them out there we learned that high county is where they frequent out there. About an hour or so after first light they were moving to the highest points with thick cover. Herds were about 10-12 in size on average. Any juniper patches big enough to hold 10-12 Elk in the upper parts of the hills seemed to be where they favored, especially if they were anywhere near any of the couple water sources out there. The Does are going to be a walk in the park for you. No joke we saw about 300 of them over the course of 8 days. They were everywhere in the juniper patches near the alfalfa. Like clock work they fed at the alfalfa every sunrise. If you stage up anywhere in the hills where you can see the alfalfa patches at sunrise in the morning you’ll have no trouble. And they graze at those patches all throughout mid day as well 11am-2pm off and on. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I’ll do my best to answer them for you. God bless, hope the best for your hunt. Let me know how it goes.
I miss you YESS!
Congrats! Just subbed
Thanks! Much Appreciated!!

Nice video! Did you guys come in from out of state?
I’m so curious about your hunt. I’m heading there in 2 weeks. Any advice on those elk?
We have cow elk tag and doe tags
