It is not really necessary to sharpen the rebar stakes. It is reasonably easy to pound them into the playa with a hand sledge hammer. Be sure to bring a pair of locking pliers to easily loosen and twist the rebar out of the playa.

It worked great! used it two burns in a row and we use it at home to shade young plants in the spring.
