Adorable first-grader, unable to walk, gets a life-changing gift thanks to a Secret Santa

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season. Every day, from now until Christmas, we will post videos of the recipients being surprised with these life-changing gifts.
Juan is an adorable first-grader with a huge smile. He also has severe permanent developmental and physical disabilities which only allow him limited movement of his arms and hands. He is not able to walk.
Juan lives with his single mother, grandma and three other siblings. Since preschool, he has been in a stroller to get around at school. He does not have a wheelchair.
Earlier this month, as Juan was being loaded onto the school bus all ready to go to school, his aged stroller broke. His grandma has to carry his stroller down the steps to get him onto the bus to go to school.
His mother is unable to carry Juan or his stroller as she is recovering from back surgery. Juan desperately needs a wheelchair that his family cannot afford. A wheelchair ramp would also be nice.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to pay Juan and his family a visit with an early Christmas gift. Watch the video above to see the surprise!

Oh, wow, they have their hands full between him and the sibling with the broken ankle. What a relief that they won't have to carry him around all the time. Such a huge blessing the wheelchair and ramp is!! Thank you so much, Secret Santa. And bless this family. I love that mom had him help with opening up the first gift!

The shock and surprise on Mom’s face were so evident. Santa, these children are people with feelings and dreams. Thank you for helping this child to attend school. No one knows his potential. My handicapped granddaughter has achieved so much and she continues to surprise us. Cherish them because I believe they are celestial souls. Your compassion Nate is evident. So beautiful and touching to see the joy in Mom’s face. Sadly, wheelchairs for kids are upwards of 10k, and that’s for a manual chair. I hope they find one that works for him.
This family should be connected with the many organizations in the US who provide assistive equipment to low income people with disabilities, to get what they need for Juan.

Adorable first grader indeed! A new wheel chair is amazing. Something to give him easier mobility. Nice that his grandmother won't have to carry him up & down the steps with the gift of a new ramp. His mother on the couch looked so happy. Great to see such a warm & happy family even tho they face these challenges. Thank you Secret Santa, EIN and all involved in these special gifts.

They obviously love this little guy to the moon and back and don't mind carrying him around but soon it won't be possible to do that as he grows. A wheelchair will make everyone's life so much easier and will give Juan the chance for more independence. This was wonderful to see but it's so unbelievable to me that children in a first world country go without wheelchairs. In the UK we are so lucky to not only supply everyone who needs them but also it is free. This gift will be such a blessing not only to Juan but also to his family. Thank you secret santa x
It is a mystery to this 74-year-old why we here in the US don't have universal health care as well! Thankfully the Veterans Administration covers almost all of my health needs with no money out of pocket (zero co-pay) except for dental.
It isn’t free, the taxpayers in the UK pay for everything, nothing is free, someone has to pay. The same here, free medical care is only free because someone else, ie taxpayers pay.
@@n4gix the taxpayers pay that too. The VA bills Medicare, you just don’t have to pay the copay except on meds. Lived that with my deceased husband for several years
We can thank our government for our insanely corrupt healthcare system, which would only be worse if universal. No wheelchair is free, and in the UK most of that burden falls on the over 50% of the population that pays for private health insurance as well as pays increased taxes for “universal healthcare”
OK, so I will just say that in the UK, everyone who needs one, has a wheelchair. Happy holidays to you all
