In April 2020 guitarist Rafael Trujillo, bassist Linus Klausenitzer and drummer Sebastian Lanser decided to move on from their former band Obscura to continue their musical path with the completely new band OBSIDIOUS. Free from former boundaries, OBSIDIOUS merge extreme metal with other genres of music into a unique style that people will somehow find familiar, but haven‘t heard yet. Together with their singer Javi Perera they set out to create a musical evolution!

It's been an year that I've been waiting this album to drop. And it's everything I was hoping for. The only problem with it, it's that sadly it ends...
Infinity is irrelevant. Resistance is futile.
This is my Metal discovery of 2023.
I really like that Holdsworth-like pad harmonization on some of guitar solos! I am a big fan of combining metal and fusion, especially if there is something inspired by genius Allan Holdsworth.

Prog/Tech Death with clean vocals, I was expecting this album since "Iconic" came out. Hope that one day I'll be able to pull out something like this. You guys are masters in everything you do❤️

WHAT This is a Debut Album ? This is THE BEST Debut i ve EVER heard since 1997 Pain of Salvations Entropia.
That's because this band was spawned from Obscura
Its like Devin Townsend Obscura The Faceless and Gorod all rolled into one. I love this!

I want to hear how they felt when Rafael came to be in Obscura, were they trippin?did they already know each other? Who is the singer? Was he someone they knew ,he's really the surprise in all of this,vocalists are rarely this awesome in metal, sounds way more cool than theirpreviousband, not to be negative but ,it's facts.
These guys should be so proud,it reminds me of the feeling I had when I first heard Cacophony,busy but tastefully done.

This Band is Probably my musical discovery of the YEAR. They are like a Perfect mix of Death and Dream Theater and Symphony X

Man, I knew this album was going to be good, but I was not ready for this. I’m sitting here listening to it with my jaw literally dropping like I’m in a f*cking cartoon. I honestly can’t believe what I’m hearing. This is incredible. Every single member of this band is a legitimate beast!
I love how you hear the whole band in each track, but you still hear each individual instrument ebb and flow throughout the mix when it’s important to the song. It’s like everyone’s there to serve the music and only the music. Amazing.
Obscura breaking up is the greatest thing that could have happened to these guys. This album goes places that Steffen would have never allowed.
There’s been a lot of great music released this year, but Iconic might be the best yet. Well done guys!

Great album, magnificent solos, cool clean vocal, brilliant songwriting, all songs are so versatile. This versatility is the main advantage and disadvantage of this album, because every song sounds better separately. I can easily say, that Devotion is my song of the year, but unfortunately there is no other song in the album, that sounds even close. Under black skies is another great song, but it sounds completely different, having cool morbid angel style verse and probably best solo. If to compare Obsidious to Obscura, this album has a lack of old school death metal elements and melodies, but anyway it has their own, original vibe
One of very few bands where I like the implementation of cleans in death metal. Javier has a very powerful voice. I wish more people knew about this band. Also, this has a very similar mix to diluvium, was it the same guy who mixed? It's a very clean sound.

Just discovered you guys through the Nik Nocturnal collab. I'm really hard to please but you're hitting my sweet spot of being really varied and entertaining. Javi, I enjoy all your singing styles, which is a miracle: I don't even really like most vocalists in general! The guitar and bass work is amazing, drumming is tight, I've nothing to complain. Bravo! Very curious about your next endeavours, and who knows, see you on the stage someday?

Yea, there's a reason why Diluvium is my favorite Obscura album. Could have done without the clean singing imo, but still a great album.
Clean vocals are what makes this album stand out amongst many.
