"No bravery" is probably the only track he done that hit me like a gut-punch. Our battlegroup replaced his and I've been to the places he was operating in and seen the aftermath. Not a nice side of humanity.
I didn't discover James Blunt until Iam did Monsters. Until then, I'd only heard "You're Beautiful." I then listened to the original version of Monsters about 150 times and bought all of James' albums. The man is an incredible artist. He has SO MANY great songs it is unbelievable. I can't believe he never got the recognition in the U.S. that he deserves.
One of the great abilities of James Blunt is that he really leans into his emotions when he is perfoming live. Sometimes I would argue that it even is better live because of his emotions. For example I would recomend looking up the "Goodbye my Lover" he did on The Voice in your free time (If you have any xD). Great reactions, keep it up.
I may be totally off point and I've never looked up James meanings behind this song but to me it hurts my heart because my fiance committed suicide and these lyrics could so easily have been said by him in his final days...rip Mark..I miss you 💔
I have been a James Blunt fan from the days of You’re Beautiful and he continues to amaze me year after year. I so appreciate that a young man like yourself is open and honest enough to admit that he is moved by the emotion in JB’s delivery and the genius in his songwriting. I have to say, while I enjoyed him right from the start, it was watching him perform No Bravery live, on stage, and knowing that he had served in Kosovo, that completely destroyed me. I knew I was witnessing more than a popular performer doing his job. What I saw was someone with the courage to lay his soul bare if it meant the message would be received. I will check to see if you have reviewed it already but if not it is my sincere wish that you subject yourself to another emotional Blunt rollercoaster as soon as possible. Thank you for sharing James with your diverse audience.
Someone has already mentioned it, but the Goodbye My Lover live version from The Voice is also incredible. Just hearing the live voice is an absolute treat.
This song is about a girl James dated, but he wrote it years after the relationship ended. When he appeared on the UK show Songbook, Blunt explained: "I guess it's a realization that you'll never be with someone, but the frustration that they are still alive and out there in the world. It can be an incredibly painful idea - I sat with the song for quite a long time. But for me, it's probably my most personal song. Whereas 'You're Beautiful' is about a moment, one second in time of passing that person, the song’ Goodbye My Lover' is about a lifetime's worth of emotion, the fact that that relationship is over, and that life continues. And yeah, it's the most personal song on Back To Bedlam 👍🏻🤩🏴
James Blunt is a powerful songwriter and the songs are always beautifuly delivered . I also think you should react to no bravery and carry you home but in that order - you will find out something fundamental about JB in no bravery and you need to know that to get the full impact of carry you home. i won't say what because it will diminish the impact.
If time is all I have....by James Blunt! Tbh I love every song by James! A true singer/song writer that does it all right from the heart. Saw him live 4 times and even live he is full of emotion
This song was recorded originally in Carrie Fishers bathroom when he was staying with her during the making of Back to Bedlam. She even provided him with cutout picture of Leia to protect him from memories of war.
I listened to this song to try and help with pain my children will endure at my death. God help me. I have five children and keeping my cancer from them is the only way I know to make there lives normal. I only have a couple of years but the artist putting together my funeral will be playing this for my oldest son. You can't understand understand you lived through the hell we have experienced.
Beautiful is the one everyone knows, the video for that one gave it a new meaning for me. Goodbye My Lover is emotional to me not for breakups, but goodbyes. First time I heard it, memories flooded into me about my one true love. When I was 35, in 1998, my partner of 12 years passed away suddenly. Sometimes we all need a good cry and James blunt delivers.
James is an amazing singer, songwriter and musician. He is really funny in an interview so if you find one, watch it. You have much to listen to. Thank you.
Goodby my lover, goodbye my hopeless dream. I’m right there with James Blunt. Bringing music that we can connect to, that’s the magic! And that first sentence is from a song by a different artist, whose name evades me.
@@CliffBeatsOfficial what a weird song to play at your sisters funeral .... the song is about an ex James Blunt when out with , its weird to think of your sister in relation to this song
Thank you friend for your honest reaction. This song makes me cry every time, because I had almost lost the most importand Person in my life, lucky now He is with me, but it`s too painful to recollect every time. Thanks! You are not alone
It's the childhood sweetheart you have to beware of. That's usually the great love, and rightly so. But then one of you evolves differently and it's gone, like a kind of death. A kind of dying. I wouldn't change anything, but I'd really rather not go through it again either. Mr Blunt has a way of capturing these things. Oof. Nice reaction. Kudos.
My sincerest condolences for your loss. I can't imagine what you went and ate still going through. I fear the day I lose my Dad. I was with him and our whole Family When his Dad died and that's all I can think about when I was watching this video. The sadness of losing my Grampa is one thing but imaging my Dads pain is what breaks me when I hear this sing now. I'm not at all ready to lose my Dad and he's 68 so he had a ways to go to catch up to his Dad who was 90 when he died but I still fear thay day like no other. I love my Daddy and Losing him is my worst nightmare so I'm so so sorry for your loss.
I know this came out a while ago but James Blunt definitely wasn't as appreciated as he should have been when releasing these songs! You should listen to 1973 by him, it's one my dad, brother and I always blast and sing along to in the car
It’s deeper than break up, it’s about his girlfriend dying. And this is why this song hits you so much harder when You realise what it’s really about. James blunt is the best at making a song into a masterpiece and then making that even better it’s a skill that not many artists and song writers can do. It’s utter genius ❤️❤️❤️💪🏻

You have added an emotional depth to your reviews and, in my estimation, given solid answers. There are many songs that have stories that beg reviews, perhaps get your subscribers onto putting them in your path. Paul Simon is excellent with poetic lyric, while for head bangers 'Won't Get Fooled Again' by the Who is prophetic about society today. I shall keep subscribed and tuned in.
This song always hits me.. I miss my ex so much 😢I never wanted a family.. then met the most amazing woman il ever meet had 2 beautiful kids with her she's the most amazingly strong beautiful woman I ever had, with her my love feels more like addiction, she makes me feel like I was worthy of something but life fucked it and it will always be my biggest regret, i had a dream that we were still together before the thing that broke us up and I held her and cried and begged not to go out on that day, and then I wake up and realise its gone 😢 if I could turn back time I would. Don't think il ever really love anyone as much as I do her
He's just different. It's sad that he became self conscious after his debut album and dialed it way back with putting his raw emotions in his music, until the latest album with, "Monsters."
Have been a James Blunt fan for nearly 2 decades and I suspect most who comment are as well. James is fearless..poet, composer, musician, and wicked wit. His war experiences..Carry You Home and No Bravery. More recent Cold, Bonfire Heart, Unstoppable etc..
when you break up with someone, its like you are grieving, its like they have died. and wow you mentioned panic attacks and depression, i've had them for years, i'm on a tonn of medication for it, got real ban in the last10 years, i've had no life because it's destroyed it.

I believe it is about a lover saying their good byes and expressing their love and relationship with their lover ... before they passed away. That they will always be with them and love them thru all eternity.

James Blunt was a British Army captain in the Blues and Royals and fought in Kosovo in 1999. His unit fought ahead of the front line hunting Serbian units. He was on a mission to secure Pristina Airport ahead of a push but found it was already overrun by Russian forces. He refused a direct order from an American General to attack the Russian force and take the airport, then reported to his British CO, General Mike Jackson, who backed him telling the US General, "we're not going to start World War 3 for you."
