- Russian President Vladimir Putin says Russia will not halt the war until Kyiv withdraws its forces fully from four Ukraine provinces that Moscow partially controls and claims to have annexed. Kyiv denounced it as a demand for surrender and has refused to negotiate under such terms. Ariel Cohen, a nonresident senior fellow at think tank Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, tells CNA’s Asia First the four regions will allow Russian troops to gain a strategic foothold on the Dnipro River for further aggression against Ukraine.

To provide some context, the conflict in Eastern Ukraine started in 2014. Between then and early 2022, it had already killed over 14,000 people.
The head of negotiations from Kyiv signed a draft treaty Permanent Neutrality and Security Guarantees for Ukraine.
It wasn’t finalized and more details needed to be worked out.
After Russia pulled her troops out of Kyiv as promised, Kyiv's owner threw away the draft treaty.
The title of this show is biased and misleading. I agree with Prof Jeffrey Sachs:m that the west started the war in 2014, and Russia only escalated it in 2022.
US empire narrative conveniently left out the US' promise to Russia in the 1990s that NATO would not advance an inch east of a reunited Germany, and also conveniently left out the overthrow of the democraticaclly elected government of Ukraine in 2014, and the installation of an illegal regime in its place.
The Russian speaking regions broke away from Ukraine in 2014, and therefore in 2022 had every right to ask Russia for help. Accordimg to Colonel Jacque Baud, a retired Swiss intelligence officer who had worked with NATO, and therefore no friend of Russia, Ukraine had in early 2022 massed a huge force to retake Donbass, which had already broken off from Ukraine, and which together with the US empire and NATO were thus the aggressors.

Ukraine separated on condition of neutrality. So Russia has any right to occupy Ukraine. Aggressor is Ukraine which obstruct this process.
They were killing ethnic Russians living in the Donbas region ..... that region broke away, wanting nothing to do with the new government after the Maidan coup. This thing goes back further than 2014. There is a memo in the U.S archives where they discuss whether they should finance the Azov fighters and whether they can be trusted. Read the surprising outcome document of the "peace summit" held in Switzerland on June 15 and 16. Zelensky's "Peace Formula" is nowhere to be found, and the main points of the document are a no-brainer but STILL some crucial countries did not join the communiqué.

Mr. Cohen is completely correct. The bare minimum offer would have been to freeze the current situation, put down the weapons, and then start talks from there.

Good chance for Ukraine to take the offer now and save what is left of its nation rather than wait for some more years and lose the entire country. Look at what has happened to this country since 2014 and last 2 years. More they wait more territory they will lose. It is highly unlikely Russia would handover Ukraine the territories they faught and captured in a war. If that happens then it world be Israel that world have to hand over the territories captured from Palestine, Egypt and Syria !
Ukraine has to take orders, as its government bureaucracy, pension fund, etc. Are paid by the USA. If the US turns off the tap, and Ukraine's civil servants don't receive their pay, the government would quickly collapse without Russia doing anything. So if the US says no, it means no.

Funny to mention India here. India's territorial integrity is strongly violated by Pakistan, that occupied and annexed more than 50% of the Indian state of Kashmere. And they even demand the rest of Kashmere for them also.

China is neither the creator nor a party of the Ukraine crisis, and china has never supplied weapons to any side of the conflicts. The United States is in no position to point fingers at China, let alone shift blames on China. The U.S. side claims it is to prevent wars, but few conflicts and wars that break out in Europe as well as in the globe have nothing to do with the U.S. side.
The U.S. claims it is to maintain peace, but people haven't seen any practical measures taken by the U.S. to promote peace. What they have seen only is that the U.S. has sent weapons into the battlefield endlessly. Just as President Xi Jinping has stressed, the rational voice for peace on the Ukraine issue is getting louder, and most countries support the efforts to ease the tension and promote peaceful talks, and oppose adding fuel to the flame.
The U.S. side should take an objective view of the efforts China and the international community have made to promote peaceful talks, rather than sticking to the Cold War mentality, let alone pushing for prolonging and escalating the conflicts.
