    Mine was a little different but it was close enough to this setup that your video REALLY helped me change out the belt. Saved me at least 100 dollars for a housecall from my local guy who does this stuff. Thanks so much!
    On mine (RZ 4219) I didn't have to adjust the tensioner. But I did have to loosen a middle keeper in the same spot you did. There were keepers on both of big pulleys. I was able to work around the first one because of all the slack in the belt. But on the second big one/aka the final one I could NOT do thread on the belt w all the interference from the keeper. Tried to remove it, but even my impact driver and liquid wrench couldn't budge the screws holding it. So I tool a large wrench and just bent the shiney steel keeps slightly. JUST enough for the belt to wedge through them. Problem solved. Frankly the two hardest parts were getting access the main drive clutch pulley in the back (I bought a cheap lift from Amazon that lifts it up sideways to get LOTS of access for future sharpening etc) but the lift made that easy, and then fighting the two keepers on the last pulley was a pain until I just bent them a little.
    I WOULD have fought w the other keeper in the middle, maybe tried to remove it, had I not seen your video. Also, had no idea that deck just lifts off. Cleaning the top deck just got LOTS easier. }
    Thanks!!

    The opposite end of that spring is attached to the tensioner arm. The arm is black and point towards the rear. You can push in on it towards the opposite side (If you go in from the non-discharge side). You will be able to take the belt off the pulley with one hand, it may even fall off on its own. You won't have to mess around with unscrewing that spring.

    I did it! I followed the video exactly...after waiting weeks for folks to do it for me, as my grass came up to my knees. I had a front wheel flat too. I was told it couldn't be fixed with a tube but the shop had already charged $40 to inflate the tire and the bead broke in one use. They said it was unfixable since they dont have the small size tool. I saw how to put a tube in, on youtube also. ❤ Anyway, i ordered the tube, belt and blades online and used videos. It took a while because every size tool i needed was the one missing from the sets. 😅 But after being told it was impossible to put in a tube and that I surely bought the wrong belt, I kicked my senior headbanger, ADHD brain into hyper-focus mode and didn't stop until mission accomplished. I also fixed a spark plug wire and locked up all my tools for future use. 😂 I am as mechanically inclined as a doorknob but was able to do it. I had to come here and say this video KICKS ASS! 🤘🏼🖤🤘🏻 Thanks!

    Your video and comments below is the only one I could find that showed me where the attachment points are for the deck's belt tension spring. Mine got tossed off by a stick and flew to who knows where. I got a replacement, but could only find one end's attachment point. Disadvantage of never having taken a good look at the deck in 4 years! Fortunately another video showed how to stretch the spring on easily; but not where both ends hooked up. So now I'm off to put the new spring on and tackle the overgrown lawn. Thanks.

    Thanks for the tutorial. I have the RZ4619 and my deck belt keeps popping off. I replaced my idler arm, but didn't help. It seems like my idler pulleys attached on the idler arm are a bit higher than the adjacent deck pulleys - thus this why belt gets thrown. On your mower, are the idler and deck pulleys all on the same plane (level to each other) - thus the deck belt runs on an even plane?

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  4 года назад +1

      No, usually the deck belt angle changes according to where the height is adjusted at. Sometimes you'll have some slop in one of the pulleys / idler arm. That slop can cause the deck belt to pop off of there. Also, check any belt guards and make sure they are in place where they should be.

    • @jeffking2105
      @jeffking2105 4 года назад +1

      @@JLPicard440 Thanks for the reply! I did not previously notice this after taking the idler arm off (several times!), but what I will call the steel "bridge" (where the idler arm is fasten to the deck) - the weld on both sides of the bridge was failing causing the bridge and idler arm to vibrate, thus belt to come off. I re-welded the bridge to the deck and no more belt popping off.

You can get the parts breakdown and it might show approx where that went. Another way is to take the spring and connect it to the idler and see what's within the reach of the spring and you might be able to see where it went that way too.

      Did you look at the blades? Maybe one of them is twisted up like a pretzel!... It sounds like it could be a balance problem. Also, set a weight on the seat or have someone sit on the seat so you can take a look at the deck while it's running, being careful not to get to close of Course.. maybe you'll see the culprit if the problem is on the top side of the deck..
