There was an urban legend that the show was terrible so "it had to disappear". Apparently it's perfectly fine, at least as a typical Saturday morning cartoon. Average or slightly above average. Now it truly deserves an official release by WildBrain, with or without the clips.

very cool! perhaps they wanted to release this show but ran into music rights issues. Anyways thanks for this, here's hoping more Power Hour recordings turn up(as the Internet Archive upload also had an improved version of the Kidd Video episode Dream Machine).
Also according to some Almanac this show might have as many as 13 episodes, wouldn't surprise if it was cancelled before they all aired.

@@Grim2 It's not simply "we don't want to pay" so much as the song rights holders going "UGH! We don't want to give these to you unless you butcher them for a laxative commercial." Well, essentially. It's not a matter of simply paying. It's a matter of intense negotiation with various studios and estates, and dealing with the fact the shows that originally used them had a one time fee and/or allowance. Sometimes the rights holders don't even want to come to the table. Of course, they could always reedit the episodes and just have the animated segments.

I was born in late '86, and I recall seeing Wolf Rock TV reruns, reaired as part of Wolf Rock Power Hour in syndication during the end of the 80's/beginning of the 90's. The show originally aired in 1984.
And This was a short-lived celebrity cartoon from the early to mid 80's made by DiC? I'm totally into this, though I always assumed that the first shows that DiC made were The Littles, Inspector Gadget, Rainbow Brite, Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats, The Get Along Gang, Kidd Video and Pole Position.
The animation on Wolf Rock TV just looks like/resembles Inspector Gadget and Kidd Video.

And has "The Littles" vibe, especially in some background music. The same concept was used again a few years later, for Saban's Around the World in Eighty Dreams. A real-life chubby bearded music star who transforms into animals, three children helping him out and a talking parrot.

I hadn't heard of this until I came across a mention of it a while back on a blog article. Also, I wouldn't get to see this when it premiered as it was a couple years before my time. After finally getting to watch an episode after waiting for streaming of it to appear for the longest, it since became another animated series on my favorites list, one of my favorites by DiC, and one of my few, favorite, celebrity cartoons. A former crew member who worked on this wrote a negative review on IMDB about how supposedly bad it is. I have no idea what he was writing about, why he would claim this, and why he would try to drive anybody curious and interested in it away from wanting to check it out at all. I agree it shouldn't had been dropped as soon as it was. This is excellent and did well at doing something different. Now that everyone who didn't get to see this before the premier episode, at least, was brought back, the waiting we were forced to do was worth it. It didn't disappoint and it's enjoyable. Although I wish the whole series were available to view in its entirety already instead of one or some episodes being added at a time.

Back in 1984, DiC had some pretty high-quality TV cartoons, such as this, "Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats," "The Littles," "The Get-Along Gang," "Kidd Video," "Pole Position" and "Rainbow Brite". By 1985 they started to look and sound kind of cheap.
