To be honest, instead of having Markus' knowledge on lighting, I wish I had his energy for setting up the lights and going through the motion! I'm so lazy to set up intricate lighting set ups!!!
Dean Collins made these frames with PVC pipe 25 years ago. Bungee chorded together and used a variety of panels on them. If you have not herd of the late Mr.Collins google him. Some of his old videos are on RUclips.
@@MarkusPix Dean Collins used 3/4 “ pvc. It didn’t bend, it wasn’t heavy, it was join together with bungee chord so it folded up in a small bundle. I used it for a number of years With excellent results. Dean Collins made a ton of money doing seminars and shooting with it. Try to find some old “ Finelight” dvds. They are very informative.
Its funny, she's very impatient with everything else in life, but as soon as you hold a camera on her, its like she's instantly tranquilized. It's amazing.
That Sony Z90V 4K camcorder is awesome. The clarity, magnification and color are great. The only thing I have problem getting is the blonde model. I haven't given up hope though. Thanks for sharing. Good insight on desert lighting...
This was indeed Epic......the logistics and planning of such a video must be quite daunting.Watching your content is like riding a wave of enthusiasm and by the end you know it's been time well spent.....another Markusfix.......wonderful
I love how you go through all the standard light theory with real world examples and personal anecdotes. The fact that you are not selling or promoting anything only sharing knowledge and passion is inspiring. Your unpolished way of teaching how to be polished in truly genuine. I'm sure you could grow your channel by doing reviews on new equipment. Please don't. This is so much better and more respectable. You're definitely winning and are setting up a much better long term fanbase. Ironically, I learn more of what to use or not watching you than others peddling the latest camera tech!

Just as I was wondering what Vcam you were shooting this video with, you mentioned it and even showed it etc. - mind blown.. haha. Great pics too, and model, as usual. 👊
Wow, great information, cool video, excellent audio quality. If you'd add a few more example shots it's information worth four or five regular videos. Definitely showing stuff that most photographers don't share and some don't use. Thanks for this video glad you are giving many options that many don't know about from Hollywood Sets.
All great tips. But boy, I'm sure you're probably glad you did this on a non-windy day! Me, its always my luck that whenever I do an outdoor shoot and I'm by myself (me and my model, no assistant) there's always a gust of wind here and there, knocking my light stands over!! hahaha!
As usual what a wonderful and very informative video. the energy in which you describ and explain what you're doing is intoxicating(in a good way of course) big props to Cara, not only she's beautiful but she also has the patients which is very Pleasant to see and of course the chemistry between you is so fun and delightful. Must admit at first when I came across your videos I fantasized of having a chance to win freebies but after you decided not to include International viewers it did not matter because your content is so good that of course made me stay tuned to your wonderful Channel😊💙

This has to be one of the best videos I've seen on lighting. My wife would freaking kill me if I ever brought out one of those giant diffusers. She likes all her photos overexposed cuz she says you can see more. I'm gonna put my marriage to the test and invest on a giant made in china 5 in 1. And a nice strobe light. Another awesome video
@@MarkusPix lol when you say it like that it actually sounds like it could work. I'm gonna go ahead and make the purchases and then try that line out xD She wants to go camping in the snow this winter so that sounds like the perfect time to try everything out. To try and get some nice background shots of mountains and keep her and the kids looking nice in the shots. Hope she doesn't mind the 4x4 reflector and the diffusers coming along with us on the trip xD
Wow...great advice delivered well; and your energy is contagious! And the heaviest thing you had out there...those rocks you used to hold the stands! Good workout just moving them about!
Great channel. Absolutely LOVE the DIY and inexpensive approach to Video and photography. Most of the other channels are flogging the latest Uber expensive gear. That's great, but I live in the land of realistic normal budgets. We need to make do with what we have. Keep it up.

That is pretty much a perfect video about reflectors ... thank you very much!
🇹🇹🇩🇰💃🇹🇹🇩🇰 I admire Cara's little girly fancy dress🤣🤩. I am not into all that photography, and all that things Markus is telling about, and explaining but I love to watch and Listen👂👂. Educational for the Camera Lovers, and Photographer's, people in that sector. I am nowhere close. Thank you Markus, great information and presentation. Awesome!
Thank you for making this. I can tell you really put so much working in making these videos and we appreciate it. I love my 40x60 5 in 1 reflector and end up using the diffuser way more than I ever thought I would, especially since I like to travel light.
After seeing this video I really wonder why people are so obsessed with cinema cameras, giant aperture lenses and soft backgrounds because these shots are gorgeous and SHARP. The Nevada desert is blowing me away with how beautiful it is. The entire scene is in focus. Then Markus shows how to light for a certain purpose. But just the wide shots look so awesome. Just about every camera gear video on youtube looks like soft mush compared to this. 1" sensor camcorder for the win. I know it's not an either or thing, but seeing sharpness after so much blur is a real treat.
Video after video you keep impressing me with the content rich, analytic and practical lessons you provide! Invaluable gift from a gifed person! Thank you!

New sub here! just found your channel yesterday and by far I am loving your content - it's more practical, easy to follow and best of all no BS. What's amazes me is that your videos are long but I am watching the whole thing. Model is gorgeous!
Can't get over all the options you show in your videos! Your experience using all the things you show is great and I bet that if I had gone through a local course I wouldn't have been shown all the details on scrims, white vs silver reflectors and all those diffuser options. THANKS FOR MAKING THESE!
I've always enjoyed your videos, but this one topped them all. The amount of information you share here with detailed, hands-on examples is absolutely incredible. I don't subscribe easily but this one made me hit the bell. Keep up the good work.
I've watched dozens (hundreds?) of lighting videos and this one is by far the BEST I've ever seen as far as explanation and showing what impact each setup has on the scene / subject. Thanks SO MUCH for sharing this.
I noticed something at about 14:40. Your model, who if I remember correctly is named Cara (sorry for the awful spelling), appears to have very good balance while walking on the balls of her feet. To me this speaks of ballet training. I just wanna know if my guess was right or not.
Markus, you are the best, again teaching subtractive lights, additive lights diffusion light and mixing day and artificial light for balanced pleasant look, many thanks sir for what you do , u and your beautiful lady.
I was like, who is that handing stuff off screen and holding the camera for some of the shots. Is that Cara's kid? Sometimes I can't believe the amount of work you put into these videos. The amount of different options and showing so many ways to use this. I am surprised it was not dark by the end.

PVC pipe bends, unlike aluminum. Plus PVC weighs considerably more and is no where near as portable.Nothing beats 1/2" or 5/8" aluminum
