    As a true beginner learning to knit a shawl, this video was a total game changer in helping me understand how to create the spine and using markers! Loved the format, too...the music, background, pace, and titles make it a pleasure to watch repeatedly! Haha! Thank you!

    Hi, love this pattern so mk much. I've decided to try it and I'm a beginner but I learn really quickly. The only thing I don't understand is how you get from 5 stitches to 9. I don't know how to get there just by YO. Any advice is appreciated!

    • @handylittleme
      @handylittleme  2 года назад +3

      Hello Cass, you are increasing the stitches through a series of yarn overs. The YO creates another stitch. I hope that helps!

    I love this pattern and bought it, however, I’m probably overthinking it lol. I watched your video and I have a question about the ending. How do you know you have enough number of stitches to change the yarn color? I have been reading your pattern over and over and it says repeat rows 1-2 until you have certain stitches for the size you’re knitting for and then it the yarn a and yarn b is below it. Do I knit all the way and then change colors? 😆thank you!

    • @handylittleme
      @handylittleme  2 года назад +1

      Hello Afsaneh - yes you knit until it says to in the pattern until you are comfortable with the size, there are a lot of notes on this. Then you can change the color and start the stripe work. I hope that helps! Louise

  • @brainwashutube

    I’m confused. This is a shawl knit from the bottom, or the point of the triangle. How do you get the stripes at the bottom if you follow the written pattern, it reverses the pattern in the thumbnail picture, doesn’t it?

    • @handylittleme
      @handylittleme  Год назад

      Hello Brian, this shawl is knit from the top down, you work the main body of the shawl and then add the stripes in when you are closer to the bottom, by then you will have many stitches on your needles. The pattern works well, many people have made it...so if you start it, you will see how it is going. I hope that helps! Louise

    • @CindyBennett13
      @CindyBennett13 9 месяцев назад +1

      That was my exact question! I was thinking we were working from the point of the triangle but we are working from the top down. Def mind shift ! I am doing this shawl now

    • @laurieschuldt1589
      @laurieschuldt1589 3 месяца назад

      Totally confused on the 'top down" references. So the 5 stitches that you begin with are the top? I thought that was the bottom on the back of the shawl.

      @@handylittleme thanks for trying. But no. Your videos are clearly meant for people who already have a solid footing in knitting and know how to read patterns. And already know what things are called. I opened the page on how to read patterns, and understood about 50% of what you were saying. I can knit/purl scarves, which are straight lines and I don’t know the terms for things, like what a garter stitch is. I learned to knit in Romania about 20 years ago, but was only able to get someone to teach me the basics. I taught myself purl a few years in. And since I learned in Europe, I learn European style knitting. Which makes it difficult to understand what I’m seeing with American style in RUclips videos. Clearly I need a live person to teach me and videos and written instructions are not going to do it here. My real problem is you don’t speak in the videos, but write the instructions out. I needs videos that take the time to verbally explain exactly what your doing and what things mean.

    Way too fast; verbal instructions would have been great as I have to watch what I'm doing and can't read text off the screen while I'm trying to watch my stitches. Definitely not beginner friendly (in my case at least). Maybe I'll revisit this once I get more advanced though.
