    • @michaelmaier5565

      Wasn’t it Allvin?
      Sportsnet: You do have an out on that contract because Pettersson’s trade protection doesn’t start until next season. But is moving your 26-year-old star actually possible?
      Allvin (smiling): Well, you know Jim's history.
      We want to build a team that sets us up for long-term success. Building around the long-term deals with Miller and Petey, having Quinn and Demko locked up, Filip Hronek and Jake DeBrusk, I mean, those are big pieces. Petey has shown up to this point that he is an extremely talented, quality player that could and should be a No. 1 centre. I believe in him. I believe that he's capable. (But) he needs to mature and understand that there are certain expectations and it does not get easier. And you need to face the music when things don't go well. Is it (a trade) possible? I guess I would say anything is possible.
      This fire was started from INSIDE the organization, now everyone is telling the media to settle down and stop fanning the flames.

    I feel like any trade involving Miller or Pettersson would be a lose-lose situation for Canucks. Miller has a NMC, so this is Kesler 2.0 and will limit trading partners. As for Petey, his value is not at an all-time high especially after that last playoff performance and the nagging injury. It's really unfortunate these 2 guys can't get along. Having two 100+ pt Cs are what contenders dream of.

    i doubt any trade happens. Both miller and petey are too good, and no reason to trade them. Plenty of teams have players that dont like each other but play, it happens in all sports. Its just the Vancouver media are always trying to dig something up when there isn't much there. Even Pettersson has said if he plays better and the teams wins, all this stuff just goes away. He wants to be in Vancouver, and I hate to see him get traded.

  • @carlosvangrinder3754
    @carlosvangrinder3754 17 дней назад +1

    At least he said something truthful. To trade Petey or Milsy would mean a center coming back that won't tank the team. On top of that they need a defenseman that can fix the real problem which is the "big man defense aka the bottom 4" have been lousy. The chances of the Canucks making a trade that involves Milsy or Petey is about as close to zero as you can get. The real story that is under reported is the fact that Boeser hasn't got a new deal, so they are waiting to see how the season progresses into the trade deadline. Me thinks this is a way bigger deal than Milsy and Petey not liking each other. Boeser is the glue that holds this team together and is also a really good player. I think that trading Boeser is a much bigger possibility than a trade with Petey or Milsy. My guess is if a trade is possible with either of these two centers has got to be a package deal with Boeser as well. They really need to get their bottom 4 D-men performing or they will not make the playoffs, and Toch will likely have to be fired to calm the irrational Canuck fans.

    • @SimonBaldock
      @SimonBaldock 16 дней назад

      so he's stating common sense. Not some great insight or inside knowledge there.

    • @richardgerminario1600
      @richardgerminario1600 13 дней назад +1

      You`re right. The Boeser situation takes top priority. And fixing the bottom 4 defence corps is extremely important too, especially for game #83!

    Here is my GM mode
    JT is from East Palestine Ohio. Why not a trade home to CBJ?
    Why? CBJ is an up and coming team, they have an incoming elite 1C in the Adam Fantilli, JT could help should some of the responsibilities for the next few years and than transition into a 2/3C support veteran role.
    Canucks need pieces, CBJ has them in spades.
    Cole Sillinger young signed at a good contract for another season after this. Could develop into a 2C.
    Kent Johnson, speedy LWer hometown boy signed to a good 3 year contract.
    Ivan Provorov, a legit 2nd pairing Dman, is a UFA no guarantee he resigns but if he fits in and does resign it would really shore up the defense.
    The money works almost perfectly. I’d ask for CBJ to take on the Desharnais contract as an extra little cap space perk.
    Of course it’s JT’s decision as he holds all the cards.
    Risk on both sides but pretty fair value for both teams IMO.

    At it again media won't be satisfied until one of these players are gone then whos next? Hughes?

  • @Chimponaut
    @Chimponaut 17 дней назад +1

    But the entire idea that they are performing worse because they happen to not like each other is completely made up by the media. The question is not if they like each other or not, it is if it has any impact what so ever on their play on the ice. Yeah of course Friedman doesn't want anyone to assume any outcome here, that would put a stop to being able to freely speculate on every possible outcome, can't have that.

  • @christhornycroft3686
    @christhornycroft3686 17 дней назад +4

    If the Canucks are serious about winning a Cup, they trade the older player, if they can. 11.6 is a huge cap hit, but so is 8 million if the player is only giving you 50-60 points or less. The drop off is coming soon when you're 32. I appreciate Miller's style of play, but if he's acting like the captain and going over his head to bully teammates who don't play like him, he should be gone. This is Hughes' team and sometimes quiet leaders are better, when everyone's on the same page.

    Let's get past all the soap opera rumours and innuendo --- and let's get down to cold, hard statistics. As of this morning, Elias Petterson is currently down to #95 with only 28 points on the NHL League Leaders list for goals/assists. Connor Garland is ahead of Petterson at #84 with 38 points. Meanwhile, Quinn Hughes is at #26 with 42 points. Petterson should be up there with Hughes right now, to live up to his huge contract putting him on the elite level with McDavid, Mackinnon, Dreisatl, and all the other Top 10-20 League Leaders. The question for Canucks management and Canucks fans --- do you believe that Petterson will someday get up to the elite level as a Top !0 franchise superstar, or not? As a longtime Canucks fan, I do not. Petey is a great player, but the big contract was definitely a mistake.

      Alternative was an aging Lindholm for 7y@$7.75M for a ~40pts season. Can’t take such a kindergarten view on contract signings. Last year was a thin FA year, and Petey was best available for the point production he had put up to that point in his career plus he’s in his prime. To compare his signing to past signings like MacKinnon and McJesus is also disingenuous showing a lack of understanding of NHL free agency. If both MacKinnon and McDavid were FAs the same time as Petey, they’d be commanding $15M+ per year.
