I just passed a Precalc CLEP (placement) exam and earned enough credits with it to graduate college!! I restarted on my math journey after watching some of your videos, relearned Algebra, relearned Precalc, and now I’m going to buy Thomas’ Calculus and continue the journey!! Thank you so much, Math Sorcerer!! This was my big win!!
People like what they're good at, but they also become good by enjoying their previous learning experiences. To paraphrase a point you made, desire develops ability.
This is so real, about a year ago i was running every day for almost three months straight, so i programmed going for a marathon Friday morning, i woke up that morning at about 5:30 , and i was so so tired, but that didn't stop and i went for that marathon, i did it, and after it , every time i feel like I'm tired and i don't want to run , i remember that i did a marathon in worse conditions that I'm in right now, so once you do it , you can motivate yourself by your past self
SO important, especially in school, inspiration to do even better the next time. I sadly never had this as I could not understand the educational system, the topics or the assignments as I was undiagnosed autism /aspbergers. I was and am very intelligent, but somehow, school made me feel so stupid every freaking day.. I just get so sad thinking about it.. It took me over 40 years to realise all the potential that got wasted, and it is nobody´s fault, its just that I was not made for the kind of school system that was available to me at the time.. I didnt understand, nor did my family or the people around me.. Luckily the world is changing 🙏
"desire is more important than ability" Yeah, that sounds good. The desire will help you get the abiliyy, at least. It's important to choose wisely what you want to focus your attention on, since that's what desire is.
I totally agree with this. In high school been struggling with math for whole semester, basically failing at every single test. Anxiety kicked in, I feared of even being in class, not mentioning solving problems. Finally I told myself that I need to change something and I started studying really hard, doing every problem from class and homework. I passed and from this point I kinda knew what was the “level of understanding “ of the material that I need to pass. This let me pass the next tests way easier
Such an inspiring video. Every thing you said relates to my academic life. My mock test scores are stuck and no matter what I do they don't seem to improve but I will try to follow your advice and practice every single problem. Hope I'll ace my next test. Thanks again for such awesome videos!
Winning life... One book I recommend everyone read this year is Limitless Drive. It’s a transformative guide to the mindset and habits that set the most successful apart. This book taught me how to break through limitations and think like the top 1%. Truly life-changing and a must-read!
I just finished adding my transcript documents to my graduate school master degree programs I am applying to start in Fall 2025. My FAFSA at my undergraduate program for this semester a pretty big refund for me to pay off my previous semester course debt and have a little more left over to store and use for the semester that I graduating and finishing college in. Spring 2025 I am taking economics 3000-level class, Analysis 1, and I am retaking Foundations of Geometry. I am going to get a A in these math courses and I will learn! Im going to win!
It's fun when you solve a math problem.. but when the problem is too hard, it's brutal. I am good at the easier math problems.. but I destroyed my confidence trying super hard Olympiad type math problems, which I really really struggled with.
I found this message to be really valuable and resonated with me quite a lot. Learning any skill is journey and having an example of your success to reflect upon and act a source of energy and motivation in your lowest moments is beneficial for your mental state. Thanks for sharing 👍
I just finished my first semester at university. I wasn't confident in my calc 1 knowledge even though I got an A at community college and was worried for calc 2. My uncle even told me to just drop the course 🤣. I studied a bunch for the first exam and got a 90.5. That one win set me up for the rest of the semester and I through with a B!
Yeah, I don't have what it takes to exist in this world. I'd like to go to a different one thank you. Desire doesn't matter when your body won't handle it and there is no supports around you.
I was always addicted to learning and teaching, i'm the only one i know in my area that can speak many languages fluently since a teenager and i can feel the jealously of older people that wasted all of their youth with addictions or rich quick schemes
I'm freaking out,I know everything is going to be spoken from my mouth if you can tell me if ,Soda ,is breveated, sodalicious, or so delicious, Please I want to piss Jim off so bad ,is it, come on is it, we'll wait,I have to pee ,did I miss it?😢,by.
"I hope you can help me. I am struggling a lot with math and have issues with the basics. I want to improve and relearn it from the ground up. I am serious about it and need a course or a book in French to start. I am in high school and study at school for 8 hours every day. When and how can I organize my time to work on this?"
hey doc, love your videos. Have you read the book The Dip by Seth Godin? I think it would be awesome if you could comment about some of those ideas in that book.
@ Got a job that I was searching for so long. In a small startup, it was some kind of a dream I guess but I didn’t fit the crew and didn’t really know what I was doing either because it was my first job, also I did programming with language that wasn’t so familiar to me that lead to me getting fired.

Success breeds success. We need at least one success to instill self confidence. I still worry short of that success inspite of my hardwork.
A word of encouragement at just the right time from someone you respect can make all the difference.

You can also earn the trust of others from one success, from which you will gain opportunities to succeed again
The ultimate win is when you can prove the professor wrong. It feels like justice is served.

Well done. Great marks.
Congrats! Things seem hard before you start but then you realize how straightforward they are once you actually do them.
