I give it to you, 👏👏I've looked this dress over, head to toe, front to back and it looks so difficult!!!!! How they got the rouching around the waist while keeping the colors separate and defined????? ALOT of hand sewing and alot of crystals....I bet she had to be there for it to be finished, it fits her body perfectly! How did you find the experience? I find the dying process to be frustrating and very time consuming. But I do it all the time😆The color choice was very interesting for your dress, very fall!! I've wanted to try it,but haven't dared ......

Thank you so much!! Yes my sister was there from beginning to end, we even wet draped ( 🤢) on her around her chest so that it fit! The entire thing is sewn by hand, with the exception of the panels! I am going to try this skill again in the future, and learn to refine it even better! It was tedious but the results were really neat!

I think this was a great attempt and I don't necessarily agree with the comments about the colors. The colors could work if you made the dress floor length and cleaned up the lines around the torso more to create the same effect as the Versace. I think the design and effect get muddled bc of the way the fabric was arranged so it looks a lot more chaotic, especially with the choice of length.

I can see a tiny bit of resemblance, which is still way better than I could do. I mean this is definitely an extremely difficult skill level, and I don't want to dismiss that. However, I don't think they really had much in common besides the chunks of color and a ridiculous amout of ruching? Gathering? Pleating? Smocking? Honestly, I'm not at all sure what you call this type of stitching or what have you.

The skill required to even be able to do this is pretty cool. That being said.. Im not a big fan of the colors chosen (I'm a painter, commercial and residential). Also not a huge fan of the length the dress. Again, not trying to hate because I wouldn't be able to sew a dress at all. Its just that the style, and colors especially.. are majorly clashing for me, and its just personally not my taste. I get its not for me, just my opinion. Still cool though.

I think if you said "inspired by" rather than recreated people would chill. It looks cool, and I can see the source inspiration in it for sure.
I think if you do this again and want to go for the ethereal quality of the Versace dress, focus on less harsh angles when you pin it, and maybe add some twists and more gentle shapes from the draping. I think also because the colors you used have such high contrast it's hard to get a nice visual blending too all the layers. And maybe a sheer or mesh skin toned dress underneath rather than a white one.
Again, still looks awesome and super unique, not something many people would ever even attempt!!
