this video nears it 1 year anniversary, and i think for my skills at the time, it was alright.
i've improved more at making videos and my opinions that i share in this video vary greatly now, so just keep that in mind.
i feel the need to put this here since this video is one of my most popular videos ever and it still gets comments to this day about how i suck at mechanic, thanks.

random info notes about production cuz why not:

my real question is "why'd you try to wear your video?"
it's part of the creative process to try and wear the video
@@7GM9 fascinating! and why couldn't you wear it? was it not your size?
omg!!! 8/26 is my ibrurihthyday!!!!!!!!!
why'd it take you 4 months
A lot of people seem to not want to pick Mechanic simply because they get attached to the buildings they put so much care into just for their whole world to be destroyed in seconds, and that's understandable. However Mechanic, like Doctor and Agent, requires him to keep calm when things don't go his way in order for him to be effective, and unlike Doc and Agent, he has a plethora of ways to combat his problems. Patrolling the area surrounding your nest with your trusty shotgun and pistol is a good way to scout out incoming dangers and pick off lone stragglers. Constantly switching the position of your base to throw off your enemies, utilizing unlocks like the Rescue Ranger, PDQ, Frontier Justice, Wrangler, etc. There are so many ways that Mechanic can combat these obstacles, and while they may not work 100% of the time, its better than what some classes get instead when facing their class counters. (**cough cough** Agent **cough cough** )
Calm down, its a roblox game
Had that mentality, until I just went into the habit of just being a pessimist. I'll always expect my team to fall back, my stuff goes poof, I die. Really makes it fun when the team is good and not that annoying when the worst does happen.
Ain't reading allat
As a mechanic main, I always play with the gunslinger because your sentry doesn’t really matter in tc2, it’s simply to easy right now to destroy so instead I use it more of a crits storage if I get a kill with it or a alarm for a push. And then my shotgun is what does a lot of the damage.
@@Steven12345 except its a copy of tf2
This guy is just like LazyPurple:
- He play TF2 (or.. a game that's like tf2)
- He sounds like a younger version of him
- He take long time to upload
And most of all..
- He epic *Pro*
shut the hell up
FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONED IT LOL so true bro
2:40 funnily enough I gravitated towards engi and medic because they’re the backbone of the team and don’t require much shooting and it frees up space for capable power class players
Remember, as a support, so long as you are healing, they can't ding you for bad preformance.
Unless your an agent
me plays doctor cuz i liked the saw and syringe smg
I love your simplistic style of editing as well as how engagingly you explain things which is also easy to understand, keep it up!
As a long time mechanic main, I really appreciate sharing your thoughts and I would like to add on to them
First of all, the phlog airblast does not delete sticky bombs, I tried it many times lately and it did not work.
Mechanic can be fun, but only when you're new and learning him and succeeding knowing that your team would have not been able to win without you (feels very nice) or when you're in the mood, because I have played mechanic for a long time now that I am getting bored of him and started playing other classes like Flanker, very fun to play.
Also, the short circuit is good in TF2 (nearly busted on the payload) because the energy ball is big and takes out all projectilesin thay direction, in TC2 the energy ball is much smaller and when there's so much spam, the ball is not gonna take out all of the projectiles. I did manage to find a good situation for it but it's rare and mostly 50% consistent, on A/D Yellowvally on the first point, I had the dispenser on the point on the wall, there was an annihilator and trooper trying to shoot it from that room above the entrance of the cave that leads to the 2nd point, I was on the point and right there the short circuit came in handy but still, not good
"not having a mechanic really sucks."
doctors that dont know how to uber:
In TF2 the Enginner doesn't have to worry that much about explosive classes thanks to the wrangler and it's 66% damage resistence bubble, this is a better explosive counter than the short circuit when protecting your sentry, since the short circuit is made to protect youself from explosives, not your sentry gun. The wrangler has a whole lot of problems on it's own, but giving a defensive Mechanic the means to protect his gun could be a good idea. I propose the following unlock:
A secondary weapon that works like the wrangler, but instead of allowing you to shoot with your sentry remotely, it disables your sentry's ability to fire and instead creates a holographic barrier that covers the sentry in the direction it's looking at. The barrier has double your sentry's health and it recharges slowly while the weapon is holstered. If the shield breaks, your sentry is disables for a few seconds and you have to wait until the shield fully heals before deploying it again.
This can allow you to stall an ubercharge, or to protect yourself from long ranged explosive spam. However, killing the mechanic, attacking the sentry from a point that isn't covered by the shield or simply a coordinated push can take down the nest either way.
Quite rare to see TC2 youtubers. Must be a good day to find a rare gem like this
I don't think Mechanic is necessarily underpowered. It's the fact that the majority of TC2 players inherently treat this game like a glorified deathmatch. If everyone rolled a natural 20 to boost their perception, this would mostly be a non-issue.
That being said, Mechanic should be able to have a fairer matchup against his hard counters, just to shake things up a little and keep them on their toes. Cough, nerf the Iron Force.
This video validated my existence as one of the rare few level 300+ Mechanic mains. That's another video I don't have to make, now, so thanks.
Mechanic is always a class that is admired/hated as he hold the literal fort down, or just the fact that it’s too hard to keep the nest alive.
Makes you think why there’s very few really good mechanic mains in tc2
I am infact mechanic main. I was demo main, and i still good at it. Well... if not having troubles with 10 fps or 300+ ping of course... I really understand why players wont play both of them (Mechanic & medic), bc they not that powerfull. What newbies see: wow, there's guy with minigun. I will try out him. What we good players see: Nah, our team needs to win, so i will go to support category, and help our team win!
I'm also mechanic main for long time, sometimes it is funky to play as mechanic, and sometimes you just sit and wait until something happens
As a mechanic main, the most frustrating thing is other players just forget that your buildings exist. Sometimes like 90% of my teleport usages are from me (even tho its right in front of spawn) and my dispenser is barely used, especially on koth, since my teammates really feel the need to try and spawn camp as soon as we cap (it never works out).
Sniper is def the best at absolutely obliterating mechanic, his long range, he can destroy buildings without the buildings destroying him( Sentries ) and dispensers dont attack back so he can just beam them, same for teleporter and sniper's uncharged headshot one shots mechanic
I always thought that mechanic was way weaker and vulnerable to his counters than tf2 engineer. One of the reasons was that when I started playing as him, my buildings wouldn't block splash damage when I was behind, which meant that either I heal my sentry and die in the process or just let it blow up by the annihilator spamming pills from across the map.
There is no way for mechanic to actively perform when his counters are around and there is also no way around his counters.
He relies heavily on his teammates to keep the troopers and annihilators away from the nest.
I wish they gave him reliable options to stand a chance against these, like giving the wrangler a "33% blast damage resistance" or something that requires more skill than just pulling out the wrangler, because his current tools are not reliable or cost-efficient to deal with these threats at all.
This was a fun video to watch, I love the ironic/meme scenes you added on certain parts to make your points clearer in a dynamic way. Hope to see more!
Now i think that Mech is strong
So ı dont agree with that
But he sure as hell can be boring at times.. So alternative buildings should solve that
I hope
@@Eymentemür-v1u sorta like how Agent got new sappers, i hope Mechanic gets new PDA's to use, maybe some that give him a more active role (like a dispenser on his back or something)
Mechanic is a lot like heavy to me, A pipe absorbing machine, or my worst nightmare.
Blud described a mechanic mains life in a 12 minute video🔥
Love the humor, editing, and script. I would like the make these videos in the future but I js don’t have the time (aka lazy)
Your content deserves more appreciation, it is really valuable and it’s evident that you put a lot of effort on it.
Keep it up!!!
Great video, about time someone actually got to talk about Mechanic and his very noticeable problems. Yee diddly.
thanks you dantdm
No problem gm_construct
OMG NO WAY A TC2 RUclipsR! Thats no joke sick and its a good vid.
I genuinely love playing mechanic, it’s not about the sentry guns but I just love micromanaging and mechanic lets me do that, plus if I do good I get rewarded heavily for my work, but I’m working my way to figure out a good battle engineer play style, I’m not stupid I’ll still place teleporter entrance and exit and dispenser but I do want to start getting in their face
TC2 is up there with my favorite Roblox games simply because:
1. It doesn’t have TF2’s 20+ GB download
2. It feels fresher than TF2 and actually has active devs
3. Exponentially slimmer chance of running into legitimate schizo political extremists or annoying bots
I like the editing and way the video is paced, Great video!
I hate playing Mechanic so much because of as the reasons you listed. You're constantly having to deal with Troopers and Annis no matter what, that is a huge reason why I hate playing Mechanic.
1:11 Id say the opposite, I dont know much about agent but for marksman having a dispenser and sentry to protect you while you click the heads is really good
The last 20 seconds of the video summarize why I started to main annihilator instead of mechanic. But I guess it wasn't my skill issue. This makes me feel good, I might even return to playing him. Thanks a lot for this video, it summarized a lot of my thoughts.
Hey, I was just in a server with you. W content. I hope you get big!
Typical colours 2 is basically just a better TF2 don't try to flame me for this you get more updates you basically get everything that you have to doesn't give you
The only thing that makes iron force the most annoying to mech is paired with sticky jumper, cause even if the ahni dies it pretty much means the sentry or whatever his building target was will be destroyed and depending how fast they respawn its just constant pain for the mechanic. Example being first 2 points of bad water especially.
The only way I see them "buffing" mechanic for his buildings would be explosive damage in the first place, Nerfing the direct hit damage against buildings slightly lower (maybe like around 100 - 105) cause the rocket speed in general just works against them.
Stock and the rest are fine.
Ahni would be way harder though due to his just speed and mobility which makes him the most annoying to deal with as mech Imo, example being Sticky jumper. I personally don't know how i would change iron force or even his stickies as its kinda just hard to balance without changing the purpose of them in the first place.
One thing I kinda wish you touched on though was body blocking damage for buildings either the mechanic itself or a brute help blocking damage cause that right there is a pretty good defensive hold if your brute is just able to stand in front of your buildings and block it which I actually do quite a bit if the sentry is able to cover those spots in which the enemies come in.
I use that combo :)
Instructions unclear, consider banning the class
ok i will
love ur simple style of videos! and the funny cut off screams of mechanic lol
keep it up!
I’ve always been a mechanic fan, considering the first ever stranges i got WERE for mechanic (pistols and shotguns)
I wholeheartedly love this video, and agree with your points
although, it seems we get different lobbies; I almost ALWAYS have teammates who notice my distress and come to help. Unfortunately you don’t get the help that you’d need.
As a side note: i play mechanic very.. weirdly.
As a free tip: after every 1-2 sentry kills, move it. They can’t organize against something they’re unsure of the location of.
This is my first tome watching him and his editing looks cool, new sub
Like Engie, you gotta play this class as an RTS. You can manipulate the battlefield with your placements and buildings, just keep in mind “What do I need from Engie if I was the other classes?” And prioritize those spots.
Also having time in other classes helps you counter those classes. Experience baby.
Not gonna lie but i think mechanic isn't really essential all the time if you just use stock soldier with gunboats then majority of the time you will be ok (if there are no doctors, marksman thats level 462846249020472163240364 or competent agents.)
Reminder: please respect and motivate both engineers and doctors, as they are rare
I'm starting to play this game a lot more with my friend, I typically stay on mechanic & they're on doctor. We've actually got a lot of encouraging remarks or suggestions to help us adapt and play with our teams better so I hope the community continues to do so. I am trying to main mechanic myself
Hey 7GM9, I don’t think anyone has said this to you yet, but I really appreciate the 2160p because it makes the video more satisfying.
I know people hate playing mechanic and facing your nest's destruction but god is it satisfying.
Oh and you missed doctor's uber
Even though it has its glaring problems I still love Mechanic and it'll definitely continue to be my most played class.
Being basically a Mechanic main it's so painful when some ooga booga agent just has nothing better to do but sap your stuff. Also little sad I didn't make it in (I'm Deeman6677 lol)
I remember one robin walker said in a tf2 interview “if no one wants to do it and I don’t want to do it so I won’t do anything”
While i do agree with some opinions from this vid, i still disagree with some points. Mechanic being "underpowered" is a blessing in disguise. If you have been maining Mechanic (me), then u know how to basically counter some classes, sure they will kill u. but when u get to know their play style, u can easily counter it. when that happens, you better be praying because mechanic is pretty powerful if he knows what's he's doing, the only way u can counter a good mechanic is either by a supercharge, a marksman picking the mechanic, and more will definitely give u atleast a chance to counter them. that's why u have trooper, demoman, and agent. to counter a mechanic so the mechanic isn't gonna stomp the whole game. but i do understand Ur ideas
1:41 “push up, get blown up. the marksman experience”
And this is why i dedicate a week to every class
5:54 dayum thats a NICE airshot
i always found airblast to be impossible to use, at times even where it seems like i airblasted a projectile like im suppose to, it did jack shit and kills me anyways. for the life of me, im convinced that the airblast in tc2 is broken
yooo i didnt know i was in this video lol (7:47 on the red team leaderboard)
Playing mechanic is a Sisyphian task. It's a good thing I'm very persistent, and won't regret a second of it!
I struggle holding a nest in ANY Game as Mech becuz everyone sees a single building and immediately sweeps the floor of my buildings! The same case in another gamemode, Vs Bosses, since Mechanics and Doctors are Targets for bosses. Preventing you from surviving for more than 10 seconds.
merry christmas you silly goose
it's halloween you silly goose
oh mb happy easter
everyone: MeCAhNiC sucks to play
Me: haha free teleporter points go brr
idk bout u guys but i love playing as mechanic the fact that when i get into bother by an arsonist or crit surged brute my team tries to help me protect my buildings and because of that i top score with 52 teleports
You're like the Uncle Dane of the TC2 community.
I only like to play mechanic because of the funny sentry spots that always get a kill and gets people off guard
I dislike playing mechanics because of the teamate issue mentioned here, kind of makes my supportive role feel more like a chore.
Komander
i love how 10 second respawn time is long for tc2
Meanwhile:
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW YOU ENCOURAGE MY WRATH SON YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW
I always run to teleporters when I hear the zap voice line.
Bro it takes me 12 seconds to respawn
As an aspiring Arsonist and Mechanic main I remember to respect my Mechanics for existing even when they don’t do much.
... Even when he lets out that deafening death cry of his. No offense to his VA but wouldn't it hurt to pitch the volume of his voice lines down a little bit??
If pybro is good enough then its ok
Btw how to use sapper and backstab?
WHY DO YOU HAVE MY EXACT TROOPER COSMETICS?!?!?!?!?
As a tf2 vet player (ye atm), I played tc2, and mechanic isnt a struggle to me. I used my skills from watching uncle dane when i was back at my tf2 days. Unlike tf2, tc2 has some weapons that lack. I mean, there are not much guns. This is making mechanic stuck in limited guns. Though its playstyle is similar to tf2 engineer. Its not stressful unless your team is. Its not "impossible" to use mechanic if your team is very coordinated. And for arsonust mains, please for like fuck sake, spy check. Always spy check or "agent check" because mechanic is your source of unli ammo. Other than healing too but since yall defensive has doctor to clutch you, just please check for agents. Even if no one tells you. I also play pyro too. Pybro on some occassions but phlog pyro when im playing offense. And for please, non phlog, help your mechanic by reflecting projectiles. Your airblast exists. My suggestions for mechanic mains, if u can install tf2 on your pc, play it first and watch uncle dane vids. Im not saying tc2 is trash, im saying tf2 can help you with experience in tc2. Or vice versa. Learn all of the spots that for defensive, can do tons of damage, for offensive, stall the opposing team to help your team cap. Ok phlog arsonists in tc2, ok fine u can. But if youre gonna need tips, use your loadouts, your guns, wrenches to your disposal. It may be limited but combining it with other stuff can help you. Also short circuit can help with the projectile problem if no arsonist. And it can help in agent checking. Just make sure you're focused on these key things:
1. Defensive:
-check for spots that csn help you and your team in protting the caps.
-always agent check (if youre an arsonist, do that because agents can flank but it depends on the situation you're in.)
-remember to always and always not group all buildings in one place because its just a struggle.
2. Offensive:
-use gunslinger for this situation (but other wrenches are okay)
-use the shotguns you have (not the rescue ranger you b-)
-use pistol or short circuit (projectiles r for short circuit)
-use your sentry as a distraction (watch uncle dane videos abt it)
-tele and disps are your teams need in this as capping is hard. Capturing points can be tricky so yes this is a requirement. For defensive, ofc it is still, just sometimes yall kept pushing the opps back. Back to offensive, hide those 2 buildings)
-for agent checking, short circuit or arsonist, or even the piss jar.
-for everything else with battle mechanic, ehh not much. Just use everything at your disposal. Defensive has their own loadouts for this due to how lvl 3 sentries are more effective.
Anyway, just try tf2 to increase a bit of skill or if not, tc2 but watch tips in tc2. For tf2 however, uncle dane provides you abt engineer.
Wrangler not being busted is a neat thing.
But then pistol is better anyway.
Just my two cents
Im not patient enough to build lvl 3 sentries
So i go with the Gutbuster, Heavy Metal and Gunslinger.
So i can both support my team and go gun blazing at the same time
Basically, Flanker with mechanical degree
the sentrys dps is insane tho
sometimes you will walk around a corner and literally get instakilled by a sentry :skull:
4:08 my honest medic-knight live reaction: 🗿🗿
nice video dude!
This guy's fucking giving me LazyPurple's vibe
Also good Anni's or Troopers can easily destroy his entire nest in a matter of seconds. This is another reason why players dont play Mechanic often.
Mechanic the hard life
and very good video
I sure do love getting 8 kills from a random scout walking into my sentry 8 times and getting 16 revenge crits
As a doctor main Robots are taking our job... Just like in America
What tis your guys’ opinions on the mechanic’s building models?
I, myself. feel engi is either over powered or underpowered depending on his support, and the enemy team, if the enemy team has 2 spys plus 2 good medics, a engi's base is cannon fodder at that point. heck even one heavy can destroy a full upgraded nest
You know what? i agree with that, but see, there's a problem. so um... I was playing on halloween maps. And i was really addicted to jump around with mechanic, using pumpkin bombs. on 3CP map that halloween added, i had no trouble honestly. i was getting behind enemy lines, setting up a tele. if to help my teammates, i will go to the roof and set up a sentry out there... Maybe i am just really addicted to the whole engineering playstyle. Or maybe i just run with battle engi (mechanic) and it is much easier for me
marksman should stay around mechanics more he stays at the backlines witch is usually were a mechanic camp is the dispenser heals the marksman and the sentry stops any annoying flankers and the marksman can help with agents
We have cool Uncle (who is uncle Dane) and the out shined Uncle (who is you, not trying to insult you sorry if you got affendid)
”God damn, Jesus Christ.”
ill tell you, i have 500 hours in tf2 which isnt a lot actually but when i tried tc2 in roblox (i play roblox and tf2) well tc2's guns and aim felt a lot better compared to tf2. In tc2 it jus feels smoother to shoot a shotgun or any kind of gun
7GM9 is back!
Is that the kindness of strangers by morosque (I have over 50 hours in stray)
Personally as someone who mains both mechanic and annihilator/trooper, I agree and disagree with some of the points made here. Obviously I agree with how easy it is to destroy a mechanic nest and I absolutely think there should be more skill to it than mindless spam but I disagree with the fact that there's nothing a mechanic can do to counter it. Playing more aggressively is risky but if you have good enough dodging and aiming skills then you can go out and kill annihilators or troopers before they become a problem, and your dispenser is basically free healing for you to retreat to. The Wrangler is also horrendously powerful as an offensive tool since it has no damage falloff unlike the tf2 version and is an amazing tool to shred players trying to spam down the gun from afar. It also kills agents almost immediately so if you hear or see one near the sentry you could just pull out the wrangler and kill them before they can do anything, especially since agents rarely ever expect the sentry they're trying to sap to kill them in less than a second. Now yes, all these techniques require a lot more skill and effort on the part of the mechanic player compared to his main counters but that's just how counters to classes are designed. They're meant to be able to match the class they're countering but with a significantly lowered skill requirement.
This tf2 copy seem funny i seen videos of it and its still getting update or balance change i plan to give it shot.
im a mechanic main (not the type that camps every second but still defend very well) and most of this is rookie approved
btw mechinc isnt underpowered if played correctly reason being you can 3 shot a trooper with a shotgun (what i do is rush the building destroyers)
4:24 i miss this animation
I didn't know you can rocket jump with sentry
7GM9 mechanic is actually support cllas LOL
blud lost as a mechanic for 5 rounds
this game has ruined my friendships 10/10
Doctor and Arsonist and all your building is gone
isn’t mechanic a *meme* guy?
Play agent mech and heavy most of the time, unless there is a sniper then i switch to sniper if i have good ping
hooray
Epic
me when I get the most points on the team as mechanic without building anything: “uhm I think I played this class wrong-“
very untrue (edit: this is untrue because normally I build a max sentry at the start of a CTF or KOTH round using a strat I made myself, move it to the point [if there’s no enemy’s there] and then go crazy with shotguns.)
video good 👍
this vid counts as a tf2 vid
Im on phone and i suck at shooting so i love medic and mechanic.
The wrangle-
SHUT UP
Nice video. Unfortunately, however, the clip at 11:05 didnt end with the mechanic exploding. I will have to give this video a 2/10.
