According to the article, the plane entered wake turbulence from following a Boeing 767 too close and plummeted to the ground.
That is what happened to this plane
It was Boeng 737 actually but whatever.
Tequila Sunrise actually it was a Boeing 737
Mike Kushins I though we havent had turbulence crash issue for 40 yrs now. When I searched for turbulence here in youtube thats where I got the info.
No guys, it actually was a 767. Mexicana de Aviacion never had 737s
why don't they explain what happened at the end of the video? leaves me disappointed every time.
1NightlnParis The cause of this disaster was neither a sabotage or a bomb. It was turbulence that made the plane crash in the busy Mexico City

The reason why the plane crashed was that the pilots flew to close to a 767. As you can see, when the controller instructs them to reduce to 180 knots, they actually only reduce to 200 knots. Additionally, this was first done around a whole minute after the controller had instructed them to it. They flew way to fast compared to the 767, this leading to that they encountered wake turbulence from the 767, and that was what brought them down. Investigation also showed that the pilots had very little experience on the lear jet
damn I know turbulent wake and obviously a 767 is much bigger than a Learjet but enough to make the learjet invert and completely fall out of the sky. Dang...
What you need to do than? I saw a video of a plane in turbulance where the captain pilot pushed a button that stopped steering the plane at all, so it could stabilised. After that he did start the system of steering again, so he could pull up the plane. Was that an option here? Thanks!
No, investigations showed that the pilots were both frauds.
Ya😂
Any pilot knows that largrer planes produce wake turbulance . They should have backed off.

I was less than two miles away from the crash site in a cab. The ride took over two hours when it was normally a twenty minute trip. I remember thinking how I was having the worst day anyone could have. I heard the news of the crash on the radio, but ten years or so later, I learned that the crash was the cause of the traffic jam.

Yeah
Before starting the approach procedure to runway 05 right of the International Airport of Mexico City, the pilot of the Learjet 45, did not reduce the speed of his aircraft to 180 knots before crossing the VOR Mateo, as the driver instructed him. It remained above 250 knots, very high for the air corridor. Although the pilot confirmed the instruction to reduce his speed, he never fulfilled it.
The high speed recorded by the Learjet, piloted by Cap. Álvaro Sánchez Jiménez, caused him to get dangerously close to a Boeing 767-300 passenger heavy plane from Mexicana, from Buenos Aires, and to enter the wake of turbulence, destabilizing and demolishing the small aircraft.
6 passengers, 3 crew members and 7 people/persons ( don’t know how to say it) on ground died.
Thank you !

The plane crashed in rush-hour traffic close to the intersection of Paseo de la Reforma and the Anillo Periférico, in the Las Lomas residential and business district. During its approach to Mexico City International Airport, the plane followed a Boeing 767 too closely and encountered wake turbulence which caused it to invert into a nose-down position. The pilots were able to reduce the angle of descent but due to excessive speed and insufficient altitude were unable to regain control of the aircraft. The plane crashed into a building, exploding on impact.
What's really sad from looking at this video for the first time is that the co-pilot actually managed to straighten out the plane just before it crashed. It seems as if had he been able to straighten the plane out about 20 or 30 seconds sooner he could have somehow saved everyone.
Yes i agree
Yep with gears down but too much traffic and cars parked for the wings and the plane to not collide with the cars and the plane fuel triggering an explosion killing all If there where no traffic and no parked cars and the gears down they could have landed very bad damaged but survived
he was between buildings, he probably would have torn the wing off on a pole and crashed further downward
@@potato1907 The plane wasn’t flying between buildings before the crash. The plane flew over the park and close to the road bridge before crashing just outside of the park and its wreckage and explosion hit the building.
But yeah, there was one tall light pole which the plane nearly struck. It is still standing today.
The plane’s nose was pitching 46 degrees down 4 seconds prior to the crash, and 42 degrees down 3 seconds prior. It was too late for them to avoid the crash. Plus there was a tall building right in front of them.
Thank you for sending me this video

Yelp
True
they all die, and even some of the people that was close to the crashing spot die too, some because of the impact and some others due to the explosion and flames, i used to work at 100 yds of the impact zone. the "landing" ocurs at high traffic hours and amazingly the casualties were not as high according to the high population density area. for you to make an idea is almost like a plane crashes in the middle of Broadway or even a narrower place at 6pm, the airplane literally scratches some of the buildings near his fall, the alley where it crashes is about 90 ft wide, if the plane would move his trayectory some meters it could be a tragedy with more casualties or damages. if you ever come to Mexico City and this event calls your attention you can see the tiny spot, it is located a few meters from what is called Fuente de Petróleos is very close to Bosque de Chapultepec and the Anthropolgy Museum.
Yo regresaba de Polanco a mi hotel en un taxi. Estaba a menos de tres km de donde cayó. Escuché la noticia por el radio, pero no sabía que había caído tan cerca.

It flew too close behind a Boeing 767 and caught wake turbulence. That plane was supposed to be at least 5 miles behind the 767 but was 4.1 miles.
Bruh right after the crash they have this calming music in the background
Plane: *crashes*
Smithsonian Channel: ✨It's brighter here✨
This is the reason I don't flag a taxi at night !
I was supposed to be at the building right by the crash site (Reforma 115) for a job meeting, but I had to take care of an errand at my school, so I asked my boss permission to leave early that day (I hated those meetings since they would often go on after hours). He ended up changing the meeting location to another office in Polanco.
Almost sure the crash would've caught us leaving or about to leave the building had things been different that day.
The Lear jet was flying too closely behind a 767, turbulence can be very dangerous.

Plane crashes, ITS BRIGHTER HERE
plane : *spins and crashes*
smithsonian : its brighter here
Yeah, it’s brighter because the plane is on fire and fire is very bright, true facts
For those curious the accident was caused by Pilot Error. The plane didn't slow down in time as the ATC had instructed. It was behind a 767 and got caught in the wake of its turbulence. Getting caught in plane turbulence is not goid which is why the ATC will tell the pilot to slow down if they start to get too close to another plane. The accident killed everyone on board and several on the ground including Juan Camilo Mouriño Terrazo who was one of the Government officials on the flight.
The pilots forged all of their Learjet certifications. They hit wake turbulence when they followed 767 in front of them too close, lost control & crashed.
I feel so bad for the people on the plane
