    Let's cut to the chase.
[ Get to the point, get on with it, as in We don't have time to go into that, so let's cut to the chase . This usage alludes to editing (cutting) film so as to get to the exciting chase scene in a motion picture. Slang, 1920s].
The world is only as broken as we 'want' it to be. The substratum of brokenness is absolute truth--without film-making hardware, the movie can't exist. We don't want to be aware of the hardware because it will spoil the effect. We prefer the effects to awareness because we seem to have some control over the effects while awareness exposes us to bare reality. I'm in an a.c. theater with dolby sound, laughing and crying at beautiful sexy and or funny people scripted by the best in the business. Credits roll, movie ends. The door swings open and I'm nearly blinded by the glare--gotta leave. I walk out into rain, humidity, sunlight, bugs flying around street lamps, cars in the parking lot, stupid conversations, and whatever I was before the show started. There is no denying the schizophrenia of the experience. The world-movie is only whatever we want it to be, in order to achieve the goal we set for it.
The sin of Adam--was it listening to his wife? No, it was that he wanted to 'know' something--and what he found out was that he was naked--bare, coverless, formless, vulnerable, at the mercy. He told God, "I hid from You because I did not want You to see that I am naked, coverless, vulnerable, compared with You who are none of those things and that I am at Your mercy. He learned the truth from the other side of Truth--because of that he ran away and never looked back, unless he thought he could get something out of it. This is the human condition, the world is broken because we clothe ourselves in brokenness. But this whole story of delusion, sin, bad choices, and the dangers outside of Eden is always designed to make us feel bad. "'Damnation'--you make it sound like a bad thing."
I'm not going to argue for embracing damnation since it's the best we could come up with as an alternative to Eden [there are those who do that very thing]---I will argue that once we see damnation as another word for 'hidden treasure' the damnable aspect goes away. Notice that Mary Poppins and the children are only empowered to 'save the world' [clean their room] after inviting in the Holy Spirit [in the guise of a 'robin']
    • Mary Poppins-Spoon Ful...
It is obvious the nanny is steeped in ACIM. She seems able to suspend ordinary 'laws' to realize God's plan for salvation. She accomplishes this with neither fanfare nor false humility.
Seriously though, the predicament suggested in ACIM is not something a person can wish away or enlighten themselves out-of. It has catch-22 aspects hidden in this realm ACIM calls 'the illusion'--to us it is NOT an illusion, obviously. • Catch-22 Logical Parad...
The catch 22 here is that the Son of God, given awareness of His Reality, had the freedom to view it from either side of the looking glass. From God's side He saw only Himself in the Son. From the Son's side, He saw the truth that He was nothing but a reflection. Seeing from the Son's side, God's 'blind spot' to the problem of nihilism was absent. When seen from the 'receiving' end of God's beneficence, it's easy to see ('from down here') that it is precarious--"God bless the Child that's got his own..." • Blood Sweat & Tears ...
We are built with God's autonomy and asked to learn the Son's existential dependence--on which the Son's existence depends. A little redundance helps make the point--our dependence may be a natural source of infinite wealth, but to earn it we have to divest ourselves of God's power--because in OUR case, this quality of Godliness is a curse of sorts--not God's curse, just an 'occupational hazard.'
It seems to me, talking as one of the soul's in this purgative process, that we ourselves are the compassion end of the compassion and mercy stick. If we can learn a compassion not necessary for a God communing with His Divine Extension, then we gain His Mercy all at once. This returns us to the catch-22 of humans-as-creators--we grant God His Chance to be Merciful by Us having Compassion for our ['damned'] situation.

The Course is written to our true Self who thinks it’s a person in a dream.
The Course isn’t written to the person in the dream who isn’t there.

I hope I'm here when I'm reading, studying and practicing the Course. I'm sometimes not sure if my true Self and I have crossed paths yet. Thanks!
