We need a remake of Shocker. It's a horror film before its tiime. With people today attached to electrical devices having a serial killer ghost that uses it would make no place safe.
I’d say it’s creative bankruptcy if we weren’t witnessing a controlled demolition by the studios, writer’s guild, etc- to demoralize audiences by creating sequels/remakes/reimagining of iconic characters, only to break them apart and humiliate them before our eyes. There are so many examples of this since around 2015, so until we get some kind of renaissance in America, I don’t really want to see anything remade. That being said, if one could assume a “film renaissance” era as the hypothetical present, I would choose: They Live - albeit a very iconic and highly meme-mined film, I think some of the messaging in this film could be more refined, and the horror elements amped up some Ghoulies - would benefit from updated practical effects, tightening up the story, but really the image of a little monster popping out of a toilet on the old VHS cover really creeped me out as a kid
Friday 13 remake was surprisingly good. I expected to hate as I am big Jason fan. Elm St different story. You have a character like Freddy and how Robert Englund played him, you can't match that. It becomes harder to disassociate yourself from the original when you tackle such an iconic character. That's what was hard with Robocop and Total Recall. Watching those, it took a while to get those visions out of my head and just enjoy them. And I did actually like both (I know they aren't horror). They really get shit on by fans. In some ways I liked the Robocop remake better. It felt more grounded and not so over-the-top. But that's what made the classic great. The big issue with remaking horror movies now is using CGI TOO MUCH and making it look like crap.
There is an obscure horror film called "The Lamp". It has a blu ray from Vinegar Syndrome. Kinda mid, with a handful of good practical kills and effects. But it was basically about kids staying overnight in a museum, and one of them rubs an evil magic lamp. The movie scared me as a kid, as an adult it is very...rough. But I still think the idea of an evil genie and kids in a museum overnight is a great horror setup.
oh I really like that set up too!! in fact, there is a huanted house at this year's Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios that I cant wait to see that is basically that same premise! that would be a fun idea to remake or um steal - I mean "pay homage" to lol

Chopping Mall I never saw but I have heard some rumors that there were some a attempt to remake it. one possible plot I heard was going to in a supernatual direction but to me that just lame and the supernatual thing seems done to death bit at this point. if a remake is possible, I think they should at least go back to the heydays of shopping malls not in modern day because nowadays. the malls are no longer cool hang outs anymore. 80's or the 90's might work. heck the late 70's could make things a bit interesting.

What would be the point of remaking Monster Squad if you already have it set in the 80's? I'm not for remaking Monster Squad...Hollywood would ruin what that movie was and is.

I remember I had a copy of Chopping Mall on a home recorded VHS titled "Killer Bots" that I watched a few times as a kid. And I agree that it would be a good candidate for a remake. I'm not sure how they're going to make the robots go rogue, as if I recall correctly, it was a thunderstorm that fried the bots that turned them murderous 😂 Maybe one of the teens can go in and try to hack the robots to either disable them or prank his friends for views? And things go wrong and the Robots dont stop trying to hurt them.
You nailed it with demons for me. I'd love to see a modern take on it. Maybe something like The Last Action Hero with a magic or cursed movie ticket that makes the movie you're watching come alive. I don't know, but something like that would be fun
Personally, I like both the new IT with Bill and the original with Tim Curry. What is so impressive about the original however is that Tim Curry has to create all the scary elements primarily with pure acting talent, because of course it had a lower budget and no cgi. Tim Curry just has a natural talent for playing creepy. I even think he's a little creepy in Home Alone 2 😂😂😉. Would have loved to see him in the role of Joker 😊 In general, remakes are a big no no for me. But some are great and very few better than the original. The best remake I know of is probably Scarface with Al Pacino , but it is also radically different from the original

@@AVAPopCulture I have the book but haven't read it yet. Start reading it in October. Yes, most people seem to prefer chapter 1 to chapter 2. But you have to have both parts to have a complete story, so there is not much to do about that. Except of course a remake, But that probably won't happen just for the time being, because chapter 2 only came out a few years ago, And i also fear that another remake will only be worse like most remakes. But maybe if Stephen King gets more control, then maybe, who knows ?
