Day 2 since I've started working on this vision based on my favorite movie. No animators reached out so I took a shot at rigging and animating the tripod myself. Keep in mind this is just 2 days of work and rough draft and I still have a lot I want to do. I picked up on the animation and rigging things pretty quick which have always been my weakness as a game dev. I'd say the result came out pretty close to the movie (will still be improved)

Bro same here! I even dreamt at night about being in this apocalypse and seeing the alien tripods from my first person point of view after watching the movie many times. I've always wanted a game to come to life!

FUN FACT: the sound of the heatray charging up is actually the do and of an M1A2 Abrams engine starting up

The fact there is alot more progress seen in this video impresses me, I always wanted to see such a game be completed. I hope you get much help completing the game.

The accuracy to the movie is incredible, even more than the last one! I love the subtle movements when the horn goes off, just like in the movie!

It's incredible, it's like, the 3D modeling of the entire movie, it's wholesome if you can create a game like that, a survival one... damn i would just love it.

HELL YEAH DUDE!! About time someone is making a game! I've loved War of the Worlds since I was 7 years old. It was so mesmerizing to me.

I guess I picked the right time to suddenly be very interested in the 2005 film again.
Though if you want to avoid a C&D, I'd suggest making some changes. The original story is public domain, but the film obviously isn't.

Wow ,great job with the game engine visuals ,I don't think I would be able to stop playing if a multiplayer game like this came out.
Dont forget to incorporate FULLY destructive environments and structures also it looks like the weapon is intense heavy microwave type as it does not destroy cars only organic matter from the moving when the people are vaporized and only the cloth is left means its some sort of super powerful microwave pulse weapon. In the movie the scene where the train passes and its on fire and the airliner when it crashed too must of also had the same effect to its passengers on board

@@themechbuilder6171 I figured, I just get kinda pissed when people say "oh that looks nothing like a tripod" or "oh it should be like 3 times bigger" because for one they don't realize there are two different interpretations of tripods before the.... Stupid looking movie one, and for two, when you spend so much god damn time animating something already incredibly massive can't people realize it's insane to animate stuff that big? Idk I made that comment when I was tired and zombified by energy drinks while being a og tripod stan. No offense to anyone tho

@@Leafy_Captain the original book that started all the movies and fan novels and what not featured a much different design and the first martian attack had tripods about three times as tall as humans, based on the graphics in the book and description of them compared to other things

If you are the dev, is is really GOOD. You involved movie sounds. Made it like the movie. And the tripod is from the movie. It is so good I will pay anything for the actual game when it comes out!
Man this game has come a long way. So happy that the game keeps getting better and better! I was so hyped to see this video and thinking that there's finally gonna be a game (and a really good one too) about the war of the worlds!

Nailed it! I'm assuming you'll have the streets populated with people in the final build. Imagine if you could integrate the frostbite engine and add building destruction!

Well, color me impressed, i see a ton of great ideas here and solid visual work. With time and polish, this would be terrifying and powerful.

This is amaying! Great work! The movie is also my favourite and I would defenitely play the game if you make it! I just recommend working on the legs and maybe add more scary sounds of the tripod.
things you should add:
crowds of people who block your way
handling machines
a car you can use to travel but it can run out of gas
flying machine
tripod has multiple attacks
red smoke and vines
boats and minigames
tripods can die
story mode and endless mode
multiplayer and single player
tentacle cameras
cylinders fall from the sky and you can get put in the net/cage of a tripod
the martians who will come out of there tripods
sanbox mode and weapons and tools
and a credits for ending(include me)
And online mode would be cool

Imo you should join the dev team for the new interlakes game they are working on, they really need someone who can make the tripods feel heavy and mechanical at which they fail at.

The tripod leg looked like he was looking for a place to stay
2.30- I've always wondered why they make that noise. I decided it wasn't for communication, as you hear no other machines call back in the distance, as you would have expected if they were using it to signal that they were active, all systems go, and ready to begin the assault. I came to the conclusion that its only purpose was to terrify and de-moralise the humans, to induce panic and get them running. Perhaps the computer (or alien equivalent) guidance systems required moving targets to fix on properly.
In Scotland, there is something called "beating the bushes" when hinting pheasants. Pheasants hide in the heather so one man heats the scrub with a stick while shouting. This scares the pheasants to fly away, which is when they are shot by the hunters

looks awesome! but the leg animation needs work... looks like it's just an unanimated spline between the ground and the head of the tripod.... i'd suggest making it move like a wave starting from the top or bottom depending on what the tripod wants to do... then applying some bounciness like how a car has suspensions...

It almost looked better on day 2 more thna any other day??? the graphics look amazing! the leg animation isnt that good but he fixed that. If i showed you the latest video he uploaded you would say this was better. the game has gone a long way, but the graphics just looked better At this point in the game.
