I don't believe Oprah owes an apology for investing in herself because being overweight can be both physically and emotionally unhealthy. The only thing I fault Oprah for is caring about what others think about her struggle. Some of us need to learn to live and let live. Great show Patty.
Agree. I wish Oprah would follow Kelly Clarkson's example of not giving details or long drawn out videos talking about her weight loss. Clarkson's fans are always posting comments wanting her exercise program, meals, etc. All she will say is she wanted to get healthier for her children and herself. And she walks all over NYC when she feels like it. Some days she says she doesn't and just wants to drink a glass of wine and she does.

The positive impact that she has on service to others has been her life's narrative. It's disheartening that for many obese persons they carry intense internal shame. Oprah is no exception. Yet, her obesity was on full blown public display for the entire world to witness year after year.... And, yes she was on WW --as part of her path to health. And, yes many folks aligned with WW because of their trust in Oprah--the brand. All these folks had one thing is common--a desire to loose weight! Now, it is medically proven that obesity is a chronic disease. For those suffering with this disease, I wish you well. And, to you bbutler7158--I want to encourage you to find the source of empathy to Oprah and others that struggle with shame of being obese. And let's celebrate their wins--regardless, of the path they have personally chosen to drop the pds. It's okay to not personally admire Oprah. Yet, I would examine the root causes to your personal disdain. Sometimes, there are folks that we just dont like because of triggers in our own lives. And sometimes it just a flickery of the 'green eyed monster" reminding us of unfulfilled desires that we have yet to accomplish.
