I play almost all my AAA games on PC since building my first in 2020. I own a Series X, Switch OLED and PS5. I play the console exclusives on their console and rarely some indie titles on Switch. Xbox mostly for Game Pass. Unfortunately today had to send out my ROG Ally to Asus for repair or replacement. The Armoury Crate/Command Center, macro buttons stopped functioning, along with the RGB on the joystick. Troubleshooted every OS and software I could think of and suggestions from Reddit with no luck.
@@vitaAutLetum nice i also built my first pc around the same time, what are your specs? You're a true gamer with all your consoles😅got any game recommendations? and I hope they're able to fix it for you, sucks to hear that It just stopped working on you like that. I had a couple problems with mine that I forgot to include in this video, it was nothing serious just some crashes or start up errors here and there but from a brand new device I didn't expect any of that
@@rjgrubb RTX 4080, Ryzen 3900x, 64gb ram now. Originally 32gb ram and RTX 3080 when I built it. No game is immediately jumping out at me but I am absolutely looking forward to TEKKEN 8, Spiderman 2, the Super Mario RPG remake, and interested in seeing what Starfield is actually like. Is it a Skyrim where people sink their life into? After trying to troubleshoot the problem for 2-3 weeks, I sent it out for service. They're replacing the motherboard. Clearly beyond a software or firmware issue. Hopefully that fixes the issue and I can get it back. Picked up a 2gig SSD, looking to upgrade the storage immediately. Hoping that's not a whole other issue. 😆
It’s hard to compare Nintendo switch with the Asus Ally , both are totally different types of console and game base . My kids just never touching the Asus Ally after her first played a month ago compared to the switch which she use daily . I guess Steam Deck is the competitor
Yeah agreed, which is why I couldn't say which is better or not! really just for two different target audiences in my opinion and yeah the Steam deck would be a better apples-to-apples comparison for the Ally but since the Switch is a more popular device and more people know about it I decided to 'compare' these two. hopefully, the ally doesn't continue to collect dust, have you tried it yourself?
I play my games on 18w with a manual preset set to 18w / 20w / 22w boosts And i turned the fans up to max out around 60°c and ive had no issuesnat All I have been playing elder scrolls Online, modded Minecraft, assassin's creed Odyssey and kingdom come deliverance. For the intensive games i run them on higher settings on 720p with AMD RIS turned on and it sharpens the image so much
@@MrMckill3r2023 yeah im not sure if it is cooler than the steam deck because I haven't gotten the chance to try it out myself but I did notice the fans do push out a lot of hot air. maybe its that the ally's internal temperatures are cooler because of the cooling systems/airflow. But naturally, the heat has to go somewhere cause with the computing power both devices are bound to get really hot
@@rjgrubb I saw some reviews saying it was 30% cooler running the same games but I also haven’t messed with the fan curve which is what I’m doing now. @@rjgrubb honestly runs good, I’ve played 3 games on different settings and each game I’m getting 3-6 kills depending on if my kid is getting in my way or not lol but if you keep the quality low and frame rate between 60-120 you can get a smooth gameplay but I’m still messing with it to get a perfect experience. @@MrMckill3r2023 60-120 frames is not bad! @@rjgrubb it’s actually better than I thought it would be, it’s not a huge adjustment because I play on PS, Xbox, AND mouse and keyboard. So... this is just a Dreamcast before the 4th gen kick off? Just seems TOO much for too little and already lost. Where being able to play any video games pc/xbox based WAS a great seller... but now Nintendo makes it because of the portability and multiplayer being the best in almost "arcade" and "board game like" games. Where its just a great party console.
yeah, in all honesty, the two devices arent a fair comparison. Given the fact that Nintendo has its own exclusives, its sorta in a league of its own. People buy those consoles just to play Nintendo games only. But I had talked to people who knew about the switch but didn't know about the ally so I decided to compare something that was familiar to most people to something that's new.
