    Thank you for watching! How is your homeschool year going so far?

    We do mom rotations and I just make sure each child that isn’t with me has activities or independent work and it works really well. I deal with distractions too with my older one because he gets overstimulated sometimes. So there are times we wait till nap time when it’s quieter and sometimes we squeeze his things in BEFORE group work. We homestead too so I have found living and schooling seasonally works well and three rivers homestead has been so helpful in that area for me. Her planning system is working well too. Heavy book work in some seasons and unschooling in others. :)

    Morning time not taking forever is definitely one of our challenges each day. We are actively working on that and trying to hit the ground running/focus in the morning. Tweaking things as we go is definitely a fact of life for us, which is somewhat difficult for me since I don't like change. I always enjoy collabing with you!

      Thank you! ❤ So glad to know we are not the only ones that struggle with long morning times!

    Your puppy was laying on the bed and I thought it was a fluffy blanket until it moved! Hahahha! Startled me!

      ❤ I usually get a ton of comments about Noah. He is never more than about 5 from me at all times. If I try to kick him out of my room while filming he sits outside the door and whines.

    soundproof headphones help with distractions. We also put our adhd kiddos in separate rooms. I think you working individually will help a lot, time consuming on your part, but very manageable. Hope you can get the diagnose you think he needs, it helps so much when you know what you need. Virtual Hugs from Georgia!

    Great update! Sometimes just listening to what other mama's are doing really helps clarify in my brain what I need to do. 💕💕

    I keep hearing about morning menus. I've thrown a couple of your videos on that in my Watch Later to see what that's about because I feel like a lot of our morning stuff gets overlooked. Great video!

    Glad to hear how y’all are doing. Thanks for sharing! My girl was a struggling and reluctant reader. I wasn’t sure what to do until the Lord put it on my heart to start from the beginning with her… again. So I did. We used All About Reading 1 and it completely changed everything! The curriculum was what she needed. It strengthen her foundation and gave her confidence. The people in our life who knew where she was are amazed at where she is today.
    I’ll be praying for you!

    • @DaninaFarmsNina
      @DaninaFarmsNina  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for the prayers! We started with AAR and made it through level 2. However, it became a struggle to get him to do. He would see the book come out and would bolt and/or cry so, we stop it. But he has done that with any Lang arts/reading curriculum we have tried since then too. Some how we have to get he our this anxiety he has about Reading and Language Arts. I have added phonics flash cards to his school routine to bring back the basics. Thanks for the encouragement as well!

    Great hearing your update. I hope everything works out well for them with the changes you've made. My son can get easily distracted at times but I've also realized that he is more hands-on. All About Reading and manipulatives in math have helped so much. All About Reading made reading fun and easier for my son and we had some minor concerns about dyslexia too, but all this curriculum was a lifesaver in touching all aspects of learning. Plus, I give him a 15- 20 minute break between every subject or every two subjects depending on how long the first subject took. I've also had him do some kid's workout videos during that time to get his energy out before we start again.

    Hi!! I enjoyed watching your update😊 We use CLE Learning to Read for my first grader and it has really worked well for us this year!

      @@DaninaFarmsNina I hope it goes well for you! I have seen great success this year with it! We do split up the lessons most days, because I found that following the teacher's guide strictly was a super long, too long lesson for my daughter. But, when we take our time a little more with the lesson, she does really great!!

    I enjoyed your update! It sounds like here where I'm still finding what fits best. We have been utilizing audiobooks as our read alouds right now, to get to more books and our kiddos are enjoying that. I still try to read some aloud myself, but it's nice to have those already happening:)

    • @DaninaFarmsNina
      @DaninaFarmsNina  3 года назад

      I need to utilize audiobooks more especially, since we spend a good amount of time in the car in the afternoons traveling to and from gymnastics practice.

    Have you thought about moving read alouds and picture books to bedtime? That’s what I had to do with my daughter & it’s been working really well for us.

      That's a good idea! Our evenings are usually alittle crazy with the girls having gymnastics practice but it is worth shot to try. And it may help since Daddy will be home for crowd control. Thanks so much for the suggestion!!!

    So I hate the competition too. I actually use different curriculum so that doesn’t happen. Or for example, history and science, they look at it as an elective.

    I also feel the need to reevaluate and change things up in our homeschooling in January. Something about the New Year and a fresh start 😊!
    I would love to know, did you spiral bound your language lessons for a living education books yourself? If so, do you have a recommendation for a binding machine?
    I have a son who is left-handed and has trouble writing in his, so I was thinking that maybe if I spiral bounded it that it might work better for him.

    • @DaninaFarmsNina
      @DaninaFarmsNina  3 года назад +1

      I did spiral bind it myself but just portion that is related to the teacher's aids. I put the student work pages in a 3 ring binder. My daughter is left-handed so it was easier for her to use in the binder. I have a proclick binding system. I like it alot because the binds can open easily to add or remove pages. They and they are reusable.

    I have kids who have passed each other and it is hard

    We do a morning read aloud while my kids eat breakfast or first wake up (sometimes both) but have to quickly move to the start of the “real” school day or we don’t accomplish nearly as much.
    Also, you seem upset in this video and I just want to tell you it’s going to be okay. Really, truly. We love master books science and I really wanted to love the others, but it just wasn’t enough. It’s so hard to walk away from because of how soundly Bible based it is. They do an amazing job with that aspect. We have had that same realization and swapped out choices. I stand by their science though.
    For your oldest, maybe letting him use a different curriculum than his sister would help. My oldest thrives on anything and our second daughter has dyslexia and SPD and just learns different. Tailoring the curriculum to work to the child has been so much better for us. It’s slightly more work for me, but much easier than teaching the same thing and it just not working. We also have a pre k and a 1year old. I know how busy and hectic it can be. It will work out though. The biggest thing to keep in mind is progress. If my dyslexic daughter were in school it would be modified to her and we’d just work to progress her. I wouldn’t get too caught up on where he “should” be. It’s really all relative.
    I hope that encourages you.

    Why did you choose Christian light reading? I've been looking at it but cant decide. My son struggle w reading as well when we took him out of public in 4th he was u able to read well. I started him w memoria press k and level 1 all about reading and together he can now read we do aar 2 days out the week and memoria press as stated in lesson plan and it helps him reinforce his reading skills. He can now sit and read his Bible and books by himself..he really hated reading bc he struggled but now he is ok w it and I hope one day he will love it. We have bju it is very traditional like public but has Biblical world view. My son needed more indepth..as in more review and activities to cement it in his little brain. But my daughter does bju high school distance learning and it works well for her
    Maybe get him up before others and do his work before others wake so that he isnt distracted I have 1 like this and that's what I have to do. It works well .. good luck momma
