I really, really hope Maxine Alderton sticks around for when RTD retakes the reigns in 2023. She's two-for-two with this episode and The Haunting of Villa Diodati. She's a brilliant writer and I think she breathed fresh air into this series with this episode. I love how well she's able to blend sci-fi and horror and drama all together in a single episode, and I really, really hope we see more of her in the future.
Yeah! She also seems to have a tendency of writing about old villains and does them great would love to see her do the celestial toy maker or the valeyard
If RTD can retain Maxine Alderton, and then bring back Sarah Dollard, Jamie Matheson, and Peter Harness, that would be an excellent stable of writers to move the show forward!
I hope so because she is such a good writer. I believe that this episode show her brilliance because she was working closer to Chris' flux story thing. I'm not a fan of chris' tenure as head writer and ironic because what he said when he was younger. He isn't a bad writer, but a bad doctor who writer.
Hmm I agree she has the best in Chibnalls era but these episodes in comparison to RTD and Moffats era would be quite average to me. Maybe it's because Jodie and these companions are here... Maybe an RTD doctor and his companions would lift the episodes further.
This week's was so strong. I'd been meh on Flux up until this point as it all felt like throwing a dozen ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks. This episode felt purposeful, tense and gave the side characters some breathing space so you can actually care about their fate.
5:20 People do bring up with the issue between that and Rory being sent back multiple times. However, I imagine that it could be argued that the person who referenced that people don't survive the Angels twice was operating on limited experience and the Weeping Angels in this episode were more interested in torment than gaining energy through their standard of zapping people back in time. The 10th Doctor does describe them as psychopaths in Blink and there have been episodes where they have outright killed targets rather than sending them back in time, even at full power.
I really enjoyed this episode. When Claire is looking in the mirror and washing her face the camera focusses on the top of her head as she bends over the washbasin. I was fully expecting her face to have changed when she looked in the mirror again. But NO! She gets angel wings instead. That was a surprise (in a good way) and nicely subverted a common horror trope :-) Also, good to see Mr Gibbs, sorry, Prof Jacobs doing his best to study the angels with the equipment available to him. Someone involved in this show is at long last doing proper grown-up writing for a change.
Did anyone love the precredit clip as much as I did? I thought it was a fantastic add to the episode. I loved the fact that the music sounded abit off then went into static and into the clip then back into static and back to the off sounding music, loved the sound of the music also. Best Episode so far also. No clunky start stop watching just a great flow, and Jericho was a great addition to the episode
Currently this rivals Haunting of Villa Diodati for my favourite 13 story, which certainly proves I'm quite a Maxine Alderton fan! I really, really hope she gets to work on the show under RTD and that he gives her complete free reign, so she's not having to crowbar in series arc stuff. But you're also right, the Angels were terrifying here and it was such a nice treat to see them again :)
I enjoyed this episode enormously. For some reason the inclusion of the angels as serving the division has made me think there is a major twist ahead. Division not as an organization but more as a Severing. As in Time separated from Space at the Quantum level.
This was a really good episode by my book. The weeping Angels were utilised well, and used everything In their established tool kit to pretty Terrifying effect. The main plot, centered on Claire, was solid, and carried by a brilliant performances from Annabel Scholey and Kevin McNally, whilst also giving us some of the best of Jodie's Doctor we have seen ( she's sniffing people again!). It concluded in a satisfying and logical manner, playing into the Doctor's weaknesses. The sub plots were both well judged, serving their purposes, driving the episode and series plots forward in a meaningful way, with out distracting from the whole My only minor gripe was Bel somehow knowing what the passenger form was. My understanding was that they were rare, almost mythological, and sealed outside the universe, so where did she see them? I think she'll probably turn out to be division too Some how. Now, onto the big finish. I can Almost guarantee that the doctor isn't a weeping angel now guys. That was the angels placing her in Stasis for transport. Or maybe I'm wrong. And the weeping Angels were timeless children all along, and The Ravagers are the good guys, and Karvanista was the Master the whole time. Whatever the case, next week is going to be interesting. Stoked for the return of UNIT in any form. 8.5/10
lol the bar is so low that this almost is rated as a classic. Have you seen the impossible planet/the satan pit? If this gets a 8.5 than that 2 parter is a 100/10. The waters of mars, silence in the library, the empty child, blink., the doctors wife, the episode with the silence in it. This episode can't hold a candle to those.
@@THIZZAVELI I mean, I watched them all when they were first coming out, and re-watched all of new-Who and my classics collection over lock down, so I've seen them, and I would agree that this episode isn't quite up to the standard of some of those episodes ( would also argue that that the family of blood story is superior, as are the fisher king 2-parter, and Heaven sent). But definitely equal to others. The pacing, plot direction and performances were all on point. On repeat viewing, 8.5 was perhaps too generous, but it still sits at 8/10 for me. As always, these things are subjective, and maybe you noticed some issues I didn't, or it didn't jive with your personal taste. That's OK. I don't think any of us are looking to the comments section of a RUclips review of Doctor Who for absolute truths.
Real return to form after last week's confusion. I don't know, Clare for a new companion (or will she be killed off at some point in the next two weeks). ISTR she recognised Jaz as well in Ep1 so there may be more for her to come. Kevin McNally was superb. 'Nuff said. Actuallly loved this week. It wasn't perfect but it was good. I'd LOVE to see this tying in with the last episode of "Class"(Spoilers) in some way - but that might be asking too much.
While we obviously don't agree on the Moffat era (I loved most of his era, season 6B however...) I do agree that this was a great episode and I'm honestly loving Flux so far. I look forward to your reviews each week; the Doc sniffing the jacket and sonicking a rock I instantly thought "Rich will be mentioning that!" 😂
I think next episode will have little to no experience of the doctor The name survivors of the flux makes me think it will focus on all the B plots being set up this season and also when we next see the doctor we are probably going to be getting a lot of answers about the division which seems like something they would save for the finale
Absolutely loved this episode especially the ending when the twist came the scene of the Dr turning to an angel was impacting and burned into my brain .. amazing stuff
Also can I just say how much I liked Kevin McNally's character! It was so nice to see a bloke be a good guy for a change! And for the doctor to appreciate his scientific mind for science sake, not gender.
It was also nice to see McNally given a decent part in a good Doctor Who story at last! Twin Dilemma isn't quite as bad as its reputation, but it's still pretty weak.
I didn’t like the over emphasis in “don’t blink” every time the angles are one screen, it kind of makes it feel like a parody of itself. Also the noises that accompanied every movement on the angles made them less scary but I still liked the episode
It's a small thing but one of my favourite parts was how the end credits didn't have the time lord heartbeat as if the doctor's heart was no longer beating
The part where Dan was asking Yaz too many questions in 1901 felt like it was pointless exposition time. I was like “nothings changed”. Then he basically just got told to stfu. I kinda loved that if I’m honest. 😂
cool review but I cannot stand for the Time of Angels / Flesh and Stone slander! Alderton did the Angels justice but it was very obvious that Moffat wasn't writing them and that gave a sense of restraint to how the Angels and the time jump elements were portrayed on screen. He would've handled the Peggy revelation with much more gravitas whereas it felt almost too brushed over here. Still really liked the episode though and am surprised with how fun this series has turned out!
I still think Flux is just a giant reset of everything in the Doctor's universe. She herself might have to die to rest everything. That would be incredibly hard though as she is the Timeless Child. Think about it, that one old lady said the Flux was spacial and caused by the Doctor. Makes me think that it all started when she first came into being. Regardless though, this seems like a reset-of-the-switch series. The universe, and the Doctor, and the Time Force. Three very large pieces to a much larger puzzle. And if the Doctor can't save the universe at first, she very well might sacrifice herself to accomplish it, or at the very least, she'll have to go through another Regeneration.
I loved this episode so much the only thing I can remembering really bothering me was the Doctor locking a bunch of wooden doors with the sonic. Thought it didn't work on wood?
I never thought I'd ever say this about a Chibnall story but I really really enjoyed this episode. It was constantly keeping me on edge and was brilliantly written By far the best of his run
"An image of an Angel can become an angel!" Immediately followed by the Doc and Prof watching them on CCTV but it's said to explain the drawing so that's apparently fine.
I’d give it 7/10 is a strong episode - felt like Jericho was played to perfection, was a nice but obvious reveal of Peggy being the old woman, The Angels felt actually scary again, Claire was awesome, Bel and Vinder great as always, that cliffhanger was brilliant! However continuity errors such as the sonic working on wood for example were annoying. Didn’t like how the two grandparents knew not to touch the angel but decide to touch it… again for the sake of their deaths (which tbh were cool deaths), the ropey CGI was very noticeable (as you said). I’m excited to see where this goes next week! And how Kate Stewart comes into play as well with UNIT! Plus have to say My sister works for the BBC as the editor for the little teasers we see during the week for Doctor Who and she’s been saying theres stuff that we should all be excited for so i’m even more curious to know whats gonna happen.
The Sonic wasn't working on wood, It was working on the lock on the Door which is metal. The Doctor doesn't need to aim the Sonic directly at the metal lock to lock it. It just needs to be in the general direction.
@@silentwraithuk silence in the library wooden door with a metal lock - doctor states he can’t use the sonic on it. For the sake of continuity if the sonic doesn’t work there it shouldn’t work in this situation either.
@@ewanroper1518 I mean, Has Jodie's Doctor ever complained her Sonic doesn't do wood though? Maybe she finally added a Wood Feature? Don't Forget, this Sonic is built by different Tech, she used Stenza Tech and Yorkshire Steel
have to say i have royally hated chibnills take on doctor who but this season has been great and is the first time ive actually wanted to rewatch a chibnill era who episode. After literally just finishing broadchurch I can see the writing similarities in this season to it with a real focus on a single season arc and I think it suits his writing style way better. I would love to see more of this from doctor who going forward. back to this episode though, I think it was brilliant, with stellar acting, high stakes, and it didnt feel like every white man was either an idiot or being put down. ppl stood there ground in this episode and I loved it!
big highlight for me was the doctor smelling the uncles jacket to determine the year and the joke saying he had the jacket for a long time, some actual doctory things but then proceeds to use the sonic again. all up think the episode was the best use of the angels since blink and an actually terrifying episode. i went into series 13 cautiously optimistic and im glad it’s giving us some great who moments, i feel like Jodie is the doctor (something that should’ve taken 3 or 4 episodes not 2 series) and i’m really enjoying 13!
Best episode of the Chibnall era but last series proved he can do a decent cliff-hanging build up and still muck up the ending so badly it takes the joy out of everything that went before. Same could be said of Steven Moffat at his worst (in Sherlock as well as Who) but his tenure always had wit, some truly great individual episodes, and Doctors with the chops to carry off some of his more outlandish twists. Chibnall hasn't really given us an unquestionably great episode, and the cheeky Beryl the Peril characterisation of 13 makes it hard for Jodie to pull off the gravitas when required. That said, they both know they're going and are clearly giving their all for this final season so... fingers crossed.
Man, you are spot on with your reviews. I also felt this was the 2nd best Angels story, and I can finally see where Chibnall is going with this story. Also, the whole sonic screwdriver bit is very exhausting. One of my favorite lines in modern Who is Eccleston quote about how he can feel the rotation of the earth and how it's failing through space. Yeah, the Doctor should be able to feel, hear, touch and taste what is wrong and what is right at times. The sonic is a good iconic tool, but it is waaaay over used. Thank you for coming back!
Yeah the village being scooped up in both 1901 and 1967 wasn't explained, and how it relates to the newspaper article. Also not explained was why the villages in both times were connected so that people could talk between them. Thank you for mentioning The Doctor sonicing a rock. I feel like a rock surrounded by broken glass in a house is pretty self-explanatory. I still had gripes with the episode but I do agree it's a very good angels episode. There's talk about who Bel and Vinder's child will be. I saw the other day that Bel means lord/master and Vinder loosely translates to winner. So either its The Master based on Bel's name, or its almost "Timelord Victorious" based on both names. But like all theories I've seen so far this series, none of them have been true.
I thought of your reviews when the Doctor started sonic-ing the doors and windows shut. Like, just use the bolts and locks. It takes a lot less time than using the sonic to do it!!
I was waiting for you to mention the sonicing of the rock only part that made me groan out of frustration. I really enjoyed the dialogue in this episode it had some laugh out loud moments for me. Pleasantly surprised
The angels were really creepy this time. I watched in the dark on my projector while cuddling Clara Oswald (🐈) and Captain Jack 🐈was rattling about in the kitchen. The weird noise he made just gave me chills. That's rare
Chibnall's biggest and most consistent downfall is that he is not a good storyteller and he doesn't create characters that the audience can identify with. He does not know how to inject drama and excitement. Also the composer he chose to replace Murray Gold is so bland. Gold's music scores were a huge part of what made Doctor Who really land with the audience.
Re: What happened to the 1901 villagers. Doesn't Peggy say (or imply) that the angels have zapped or double zapped everyone by the time Yaz & Dan arrive? That was my impression anyway. So... in 1967. they are working their way through & zapping everyone. In 1901, they have already (presumably) zapped all the 1901 villages back to some earlier point and killed all the 1967 villages by double zapping them.
I heard a rumour that Division is actually Unit, but a different version to what we know which results from the flux/time breaking down. At first, I thought the rumour was dumb but now I'm not so sure... they do seem to be going out of their way to say Division rather than "The" Division, and a division is another way of saying a unit... And now they've announced Kate coming back...
The biggest thing I'm taking from this series is that the return to shorter (4-6 episode), complete and "self contained" stories would be good for the series in general. It's been so much stronger than the last several series, even to before Chibnall and Whittaker.
I really liked the shot where Claire looks in the mirror but we dont see the camera. Reminded me of the shot in terminator 2 where they remove the chip.
There's a theory doing the rounds that Bel and Vinder are the Doctors parents, or at least the Timeless Child's parents. I don't think I buy it, simply because of Vinders reaction when he set foot inside the Tardis and asked if it was a Tardis showing he had some level of knowledge of them. We still know nothing about what species they are as well, other then humanoid, or what their place in the timeline is for that matter. They might be regular humans from the future, they could be Time Lords from any point in time, or just one of many humanoids throughout the universe that share the same outward appearance as humans, Time Lords, Kaleds, Thals and so on. And what little we do know about the Timeless Child is that they came from another reality, long ago before the Time Lords could regenerate. Unless the Master is lying about a lot of things, which wouldn't be out of character.
Loved it. But kinda worried about Yaz & Dan. The 11th Doctor couldn't save Amy & Rory when they were scooped back in time. So surely Yaz & Dan have the same fate in store?
To add to the point about Chib's doing well with returning monsters, might I add that he did well with the Silurian's back in the two-parter in season five. It might not be a part of his 'run' as showrunner but that two-parter was certainly better than the subsequent uses of that adversary in the Moffat run.
Whats sad about his Silurian episodes Chibs wanted them to look more like the classic Silurians with the third eye etc. There is amazing concept art and model work of them by the art department at time. Moffat though wanted them more human like an the third eye removed and them mainly to be female, he also apparently made a number of other changes as well. So it would be interesting to see Chibs original version of Hungry Earth
It's fun to look forward to new episodes of Doctor Who every week, even though the bad writing/ directing/ acting that plague Jodie's run still shines through from time to time. I hope that RTD still has it in him, as I loved his characters and their developments! In my opinion, Dan is probably the closest we have had to a good character this era. It's sad that it feels like he has as much character development as any other of Jodie's companions already. But maybe I'm alone with these thoughts?
(Spoilers below) I have not really enjoyed the 13th Doctor's run, unfortunately. Mostly because of the writing. But wow, I was actually on the edge of my seat for this one. It was great seeing the Weeping Angels in a space that complimented their creepiness too. If I had to nitpick, I wish the resolution to getting the Weeping Angel out of the TARDIS in the opening was a little ore clever. Also the way they escaped the basement with that random tunnel...both of these elements felt a little too convenient. I was kinda hoping the Doctor would take the Rogue Angel into her mind, and then that's how she would have her revelations, but have to live with an internal companion...what a fun, twisted idea. Like you said...lots of dangling plot threads, and it has me a little worried on how it wraps up...just because of the precedent of the build-ups in the show not really usually sticking the landing. That said, I think this was my favorite experience watching the 13th Doctor perform, and I'm looking forward to the next one.
I've definitely agree with you Sundays episode 4 of doctor who was the best I think this is Jodie's beat as the doctor a specially when she gets turned into an angel only two more episodes left where does the time fly by when we having fun with Jodie I think of giving this episode 8 out of 10.
I really enjoyed this episode. My biggest issue with the weeping angels is that because they were initially kind of one trick ponies, each time they've appeared they've had new abilities just sort of tacked on
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought the Dalek in Resolution was presented well. It killed and killed and when it needed something, it just killed again. The episode has its up and downs but I must admit that it made a Dalek intimidating again. It reminded me of how ruthless the single Dalek was in the episode Dalek. As for this episode, I'm actually surprised that I enjoyed it and I'm quite nit picky as I was wondering how that man was trying to use the TARDIS phone when there isn't one for this current TARDIS. The episode was quite good in my opinion. Some effects weren't 100% but there were some really good ones. I also actually liked the characters in this episode to. So not a bad episode in my opinion. Though I'm not much of a fan for this hidden past of the Doctor and the whole Timeless Child situation.
In my opinion, best episode this season (also what I got from most other fans). That angels used everything that was already established, which was good. Annoying with sonic and wood, but can't have everything. Found the doctor turning to an angel a bit weird but need to see next week for the pay off for that. Also can't wait for your next episode. And can't wait for next podcast as it is great to hear other people talking about doctor who to the extent (that I agree with) is great. I agree with a large proportion of what you say which is different to most reviews on RUclips.
What's your opinion on the angles becoming part of the division? Almost an origin ? Are all angles agents. Does it affectively make the angles Being prosecuted time lords a legitimate one?
I've been enjoying your vids man. Finally, someone that isn't "Chibs/Jodie! Everything is great!" or "Chibs/Jodie! Everything is bad!" I agree this is the 2nd best weeping angel's episode and with the TARDIS falling apart one doesn't have to be a long-time fan of DW (I go back to the late 70's) to get the feeling of impending doom for the Doctor. This was easily one of my favorite episodes of the Jodie era.
Even when presented with an outstanding episode you seem in your praise of the obvious good bits to offer that praise begrudgingly. I get it that your not a fan of Chris, but any fan of Doctor Who can see this was one of the finest episodes with a stunning cliffhanger. 7.5? Really?
Loved this episode! It's the first Who in ages that I can visualise parents writing into the BBC complaining that their kids were scared/wouldn't go to bed/wanted to keep the light on all night and sleep with their eyes open. Which, for the record, is how I remember experiencing much of classic Who has a kid myself. This episode brought back the "hiding behind the sofa" feeling that used to be synonymous with a good Who episode. Also, the terrifying relentlessness and unstoppable nature of the Angels was so well illustrated and add in that, after the episode had finished, I realised I had been tensing my muscles all the way through meant that (for me #YMMV) this was the best episode of Who since Chibnall took over. Props to Jodie too, she was terrific and for the first time ever genuinely appeared to be stressed out herself and running to catch up with what was happening around her. Her being turned into an angel at the end was an experience, both visually and emotionally, that will stay with me for a longlongLONG time!
Out of all the episodes this is the only one I actually really really liked. Had a similar feel to one of Matt Smith’s episodes called “Hide” However the ending didn’t work for me personally. The Angels actually being secret agents for Division! The thing that makes the angels really work for me is the mystery. Not quite sure what their motivations are because they live just outside of our realm of reality. Now they’re employed by someone else, are they taking wages, working 9-to-5, do they get holidays, sick pay and maybe a pension plan. No, I like my Angels to have motivations of their own, and no need to interact with the rest of the universe, because we have nothing to offer them apart from the temporal energy when we’re misplaced in time. Although just to be controversial, I really liked the crash of the Byzantium storyline! Don’t judge me!
That was one thing that bothered me as well, before the Angels were sort of Eldritch and Mysterious, which made their Malevolance that much creepier, but making them Division agents kind of humanized them and not in a good way for me.
4/10 sadly. I felt the division parts and bel/vinder bits didn’t land and I don’t care about them very much yet. A lot of time wasted and some plot holes that were hard to look past. The horror elements were really well done though and Jericho was very likeable - shame the doctor wasn’t. Claire should’ve had more of a role too, makes her scene in episode 1 not make much sense
This was a decent episode but... I don't like the idea of Weeping Angels being organised and working for the Division. I loved the presentation of them as these hungry chaotic creatures who would occasionally create more structured means of feeding, but ultimately they were so otherworldly and felt beyond and this episode felt like it removed them even further from that for me, even if the overall episode was positive. I would've much preferred to have seen The Silence return in this role. Just because they were created to be confessional priests doesn't mean that those are the only people who used them. The Division absolutely feel like the people who would use that same genetic engineering to create their own fleet of them to use for extraction missions.
Easy 8.5/10. Might even get a 9/10 on rewatches. 13 was amazing. Jericho is a unit. Love tying Weeping Angels into Division. Has anyone noticed that it was called "The Division" in series 12 & series 13 it's called 'Division" more times than not? Do we think a person called "Division" made "The Division"??
I hate to be one of **those** Doctor Who fans, but the “two touches” rule undermines the established lore that we already had about The Weeping Angels. In “The Angels Take Manhattan” (which aside from the 🗽 twist, I actually quite like as an episode), The Doctor et al end up in a Hotel that serves as an “Angel Farm”, where the residents are stuck and The Angels are constantly touching them to feed off their temporal energy. By that point, Rory has already been sent back in time to 1938, and then touched again in the cellar, which transports him to the hotel. They then walk in to a room with an old Rory laying in the bed. This would mean he has been touched at least THREE times. Even when the timeline is rebooted, they are still in 1938, so Rory will still get touched twice as he is touched by an Angel in the cemetery and is sent back in time rather than disintegrating
These last four episodes have been so much fun, with a (so far) good story, some real effort thrown in it seems like. In other words, good television. There still seems to be a bit of a consensus that DW continues on a downward spiral, but from where I'm standing things are looking quite good. Also, glad to know I'm not the only one who liked Chibnall's treatment of the Daleks.
One thing that bothered me, did the Angel effects look kind of rough for anyone else? I dunno, something about the angels in this episode just seemed kind of off, plus the Angel wings that showed up on Claire's back looked pretty naff.
I feel like I actually kind of enjoyed this episode more than Blink tbf. Maybe that's my hipster side or I enjoyed that this episode actually pushed the seasons plot forward (Blink as good as it is, is very stand alone).
I really liked this overall. Claire was an excellent character played by a great actress. I loved the black and white 'seventh seal' homage scenes, and Kevin McNally was wonderful Jodie's Doctor was her usual breathless, overwhelmed, waspish, authority free namedropper, but the rest was very good.

@@Imsuper656 I dont like chinballs either but this is definitely one of his best episodes for me personally.
lol the bar is so low that this almost is rated as a classic.
Definitely the strongest episode of Chibnells run so far, lots of nods to classic Who, great ending, now let's see if they can stick the landing.
I look forward to your reviews each week; the Doc sniffing the jacket and sonicking a rock I instantly thought "Rich will be mentioning that!" 😂
I think next episode will have little to no experience of the doctor
The name survivors of the flux makes me think it will focus on all the B plots being set up this season and also when we next see the doctor we are probably going to be getting a lot of answers about the division which seems like something they would save for the finale
Absolutely loved this episode especially the ending when the twist came the scene of the Dr turning to an angel was impacting and burned into my brain .. amazing stuff
The Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone are great episodes.
Yes they are
Absolutely agree with this! Additionally (for me) Angels take Manhatan is one of my favourites!
Mostly agree. The only bit I really don't like is from flesh and stone, when we see the angels move.
It’s alright the angels moving and snapping necks is a bit of an off put though
Didn’t really like the images becoming angels
Absolutely loving this series so much, these reviews are always a highlight of my week
Not me kinda sort of wishing Clair and Jericho were the companions of this series
Moving from the ones who you can't name has changed rich " FUCK OFF" had me in stitches. Love it.
How did the Doctor's Sonic work on wood in Jericho's house?
It goes back to the 50th Anniversary with 10th and the 11th Doctors with the War Doctor.
locks were metalic.
Honestly I consider all moffat's angels episodes amazing both in term of writing and direction
Jericho is “living” with Yaz and Dan in the next time trailer
‘Sup fellow nerd! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this episode!!
I loved this episode so much the only thing I can remembering really bothering me was the Doctor locking a bunch of wooden doors with the sonic. Thought it didn't work on wood?
Wooden doors have metal locks
@@lucasoheyze4597 That is a very good point, thank you
I never thought I'd ever say this about a Chibnall story but I really really enjoyed this episode. It was constantly keeping me on edge and was brilliantly written
By far the best of his run
Fax
chibs didn't write it. The chick who did the haunting of milli vanilli did.
I am confused about the angel in the TARDIS being the angel that is possessing Claire. Can they be in two places at once?
Yes, but it will become a paradox & never explained.
WE know she's going to turn back into the Doctor but how they do that is anybodies guess. I have no idea.
"An image of an Angel can become an angel!" Immediately followed by the Doc and Prof watching them on CCTV but it's said to explain the drawing so that's apparently fine.
Blink was top tier , time of angles , flesh and stone for me over this episode but only just really enjoyed it. 100% the best episode so far
Been refreshing all day for this 😁
I really enjoyed the Angels aspects of the episode and almost wished it was more stand alone and less to do with the flux but I still enjoyed it
Loving the weekly reviews rich was always a bummer when you weren't doing a video on who culture
have to say i have royally hated chibnills take on doctor who but this season has been great and is the first time ive actually wanted to rewatch a chibnill era who episode.
Been checking all day for this review to drop :)
That's rare
Who puts the locks on the door of their secret tunnel on the outside? 🧐
Loved the beauty of the scenery when the village was pretty much surrounded by space. I'm a sucker for beautiful space images
Great episode, Gerald and Jean although did feel a bit like the BENNY couple from Orphan 55.
You know we can actually BLINK so one eye after the other and no angel attack!
Great review!!, personally think flux has been the best of Chibnalls run, (specifically love this and episode 2)
Can't wait for the video, what an episode am I right? I can't wait to see what happens next week.
Is it good or bad that during the episodes I already know how you'll react when it comes to the sonic scenes?
The biggest thing I'm taking from this series is that the return to shorter (4-6 episode), complete and "self contained" stories would be good for the series in general. It's been so much stronger than the last several series, even to before Chibnall and Whittaker.
How did Rory survive getting Angel poked twice is one question I keep seeing. Interested to see your thoughts?
Let’s say Jericho is 70 in 1967 that’d make him 2 in 1901,isn’t there a danger he could meet himself 🤔
It was good, but I wasn't thrilled about them turning her into an angel at the end.
Jericho would make a fantastic full time companion
Thank you for your great reviews. They are always entertaining and help me clarify some details. I appreciate it.
5:03 a spooky HOOSE under seige
A solid 8 here. I really liked that they didn't make the angels move like they did back in series five. Thanks for a great review!
I loved this episode. It had me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails for most of it!!! It would be nice if 10 and 11 would come 13’s rescue. 😁
About seeing an angel twice. We already know what happens due to the angels take manhatten .... you get sent back again. That means this was a retcon.
Though I'm not much of a fan for this hidden past of the Doctor and the whole Timeless Child situation.
professor Jericho should have his own Big Finish series- would fit in well with Jago and lightfoot
I'm happy to see you have got your own channel now, Rich. I have missed your commentary.
I agree with your take on Resolution. It was the first time the Daleks felt genuinely dangerous in a really long time.
What's your opinion on the angles becoming part of the division? Almost an origin ? Are all angles agents. Does it affectively make the angles Being prosecuted time lords a legitimate one?
For Context, what would be a 10/10 Who Episode for you?
Village of the Angels was very old school, I kept expecting TOM BAKER turning up.
This episode is an 8/10 for me and my personal favorite chibnall episode so far and probably the only one I'm gonna go back and watch
Out of all the episodes this is the only one I actually really really liked. Had a similar feel to one of Matt Smith’s episodes called “Hide”
However the ending didn’t work for me personally.
Chibnall said in behind the scenes he came up with the Doctor becoming an Angel
It was cool to see the doctor Tuen I’m to an angel but also how did the doctor let herself be trapped?.
There is now a connection between weeping angels and gallifreyans, could weeping angels be punished time lords?
Flesh and stone/time of the angels was what made me a Doctor Who fan so I have a soft spot for those episodes
