I am 74. Started with cameras in 1960... Kodak "Bantam" using 828 roll film. It was an all manual camera and the sunny 16 rule was all I had to go with for exposure. I have several film cameras and your assessment of the process is just what we feel on every outing. The slo-roll of shooting film is part of the fun. Using older cameras is part of the fun. That delay and wait time for our pictures, also part of the fun.

Digital records point in time…film creates memories.

Great video. I started with an Instamatic in 1970 and quickly moved to 35mm. Digital is great! I have a Canon DSLR, and have gotten some great stuff with my phone. That said, using my 35's is wonderful. As you pointed out, there is a tactile enjoyment in using film cameras and after fifty five years shooting 35mm it is as natural as breathing. Shooting manual presents an intellectually challenging balancing act as you juggle the light, aperture, shutter speed, depth of field, effect of the focal length of the lens, while at the same time trying to find an interesting and artistic subject to put in front of the lens. Granted, you can shoot digital in manual mode too. but for me it isn't the same.

I love the fact that it almost forces you to enjoy the moment more, it is too easy in this day and age to just continuously take photos on our phones or cameras and not actually pay any attention to the beauty of what is in front of the lens. Would love to discuss with you more about the ins and out of film photography so I could try to give it a go myself.
    Lovely video, mate!

Thanks so much man! Send me a message anytime, I'd love to chat film with you. It's so much easier to get into than you'd think. I bet there's lots of cool little shops in Aus that would sell old film cameras cheap. I got my first one in a charity shop in Bristol for about 40 quid!

Oh man! I am going through our last vacation photos and videos (GoPro) and I did quite a few photo bursts...what a pain looking at 30, almost identical, photos to cull out the best one. It's turned reviewing pictures of a great time away into a boring chore to save disk space. I would have enjoyed this process so much more with single shots or even film. Sometimes we do to much just because we can!
