Located at the heart of New York City, the Empire State Building towers above the surrounding skyscrapers. Construction of the building began on March 17, 1930 and just one year and 45 days later, on May 1, 1931 it was opened for business. The height of the structure was increased in 1950 with the addition of the iconic antenna tower. At 21” (55cm), the tallest LEGO Architecture model to date (July 2019), this highly detailed, collectible replica accurately recreates the symmetrical lines of the building’s 4 curtain wall facades and art deco antenna tower. The tiled baseplate depicts Fifth Avenue and surrounding roads complete with yellow cabs, and the model is finished with a decorative nameplate. This 360°-displayable model delivers an interesting and rewarding building experience and makes a truly iconic centerpiece for the home and office. It has been for a couple years. Lego has put tiles in 1x1 clip pieces in sets like The Avengers Helicarrier and I know in the Apollo 11 rocket set the moon lander flag tile is held vertical between studs
That is pretty cool. Now I won't go to jail.

The technique used here looks at least stable, as those tiles are held in on all 4 sides. (As opposed to the much less stable one of simply standing the flag tile up between 2 studs in the Saturn V set, as Nickolas Jackson mentions.) :)
It was Used in many Sets From The late 70's and 80's. ;)
I like the little taxi cab's. I think they add a good touch to the building. Feels like you're in NYC.
For the 100% realistic scenario, add twenty more cabs.

It's still kind of bearable, it would have been a freaking nightmare if it was some 1x1, you would need to align all of them and a single f up would cause you to restart, (having flashbacks of the newer version of the guggenheim museum)

Shocked to see the 2x3 plates being used like that, I thought that technique was illegal! It’s used intelligently here.

It is illegal. The thickness of plates is bigger than a distance between studs. To be honest there are 3 advanced/illegal techniques which are completely useless here.
@@jajos1001 plates yes, tiles no. it places no strain on the brick, thus perfectly legal.

marek jajos yeah Lego has used this technique in multiple different sets, for instance the Apollo 11 rocket set has a micro scale moon lander with a flag printed in a tile that is held vertical in the same fashion

Really incredible I just really wished that the ornamental spire on top was a little smaller. On the side profile it basically goes over the edge of the grey plate underneath it....also those taxis are massive in theory

I only have 1 architecture lego set because the other ones are too expensive to buy and the set that I have is the Buckingham Palace

I dont get the use of those 2*3 tiles vertically and the inverted 1*6 plates. I mean, why dont they use a 1*2 2 bricks tall piece?
