In the late eighties Louie & The Lettermen were the most upcoming band in Liverpool. With packed out local gigs at the Royal Court, local Radio airplay and interviews, including the unforgettable Manweb Showcase at Hardman House to supporting the likes of The La’s at the famous Marqee venue in London, to playing festivals abroad, the band were at the cusp of being signed.
This track a remake of their classic Final Decision had been part of their repertoire from the Be La Deuce days, it was remade to be released for Christmas in 1989 and the band were ready to put pen to paper and everything was in place, however a last minute unforeseen circumstance and the deal fell through with the song never to be formally released. The band spilt up not long after.
Many great songs were preformed by Louie & The Lettermen and were ready to be cut to vinyl but never made it.
This track was recorded at the famous Amazon Studios in Kirkby and was produced by Clive Langer who produced the likes of One Step Beyond by Madness and Dancing on the Street sung by Mick Jagger and David Bowie.
Anyway enjoy this song, feel the build at the beginning which then moves to a melodic tones of Richie’s smooth vocal giving that feeling of Christmas comfort and wallow in the sound of the sax at the break. Tremendous! You will have it on repeat I guarantee!
