I'm normally pretty neutral on the subs-vs-dubs fight, and I actually enjoy a lot of JJK's dubs. That being said, Nanami's English VA is good, but his Japanese VA absolutely blows it out of the park in comparison.
Yeah honestly the problem I have with English dubs most of the time is they have this air-y speak to them. They don’t speak like normal people. Nanami’s voice didn’t have any bass like an angry person would lol. The JP VA KILLED that part. It’s just across the board with English voice acting. Sometimes you get a Cowboy Bebop where everyone sounds like a normal person, and then these Shonen anime where the directing of the voice acting is just not that good. Not the voice actors themselves because I don’t think they are the ones making the decision to sound that way lol
@@Bayard1503 I think a lot of the problem with this one is how they had to translate it with his large mouth movements, it made them use really awkward phrasing. The VA seems fine to me, but the deliver is so weird
@@calciferrr nah, there are always much better alternatives they couldve used for the script but they almost always tend to go for the worst.. plus the delivery couldve been so much better
Everyone keeps saying this but i just saw it at the time as Nanami running out of patience. But the difference is nearly everyone who complained about this scene, watched the sub first. Meanwhile the dub was my first viewing of this episode and it was honestly great.
They had Nanami out here clenching his fist, pulling this man's hair, choking him, making him cry and then smashing him as hard as he could. *It should've been ME, NOT HIM* Ahem, anyway, fun fact about the Granny(this is not mentioned in the manga but rather in volume extras outside the story), but she isn't actually that guy's grandma. Rather, she kidnaps young children and brainwashes them into thinking they're her grandchildren so she can manipulate and use them for her own desires. So yeah. Her underestimation of Toji's body led to him taking over and now both she and her "Grandson" have essentially been eliminated. Mei Mei fought the two Not-Geto sent against her. Now she has to face off against a Special Grade Curse. AND, if she wins, she still has to fight against Geto's body. The odds are definitely stacked against her. The scary part is, despite how powerful Nanami was in this episode, he still acknowledges that there are still some opponents around who could wipe the floor with him. This is the bare MINIMUM level going forward. And now we have Choso versus Yuji. Guess he found him first.

Am I weird for liking Haruta?(the hand sword guy, I don’t think they ever say his name) I mean yeah he’s supposed to be the annoying villain character everyone is supposed to hate and root for the demise of but I really enjoy his character. He’s just so entertaining. Characters like that in general I enjoy. Heimdall, the bully from Edgerunners, even Mahito.
I will say the way its written and spoken definitely feels off so i wonder what the intention or reasoning was behind the performance of Nanamis rage. But damn idc what he said look at them arms

You guys should have watched in subs. Nanami's voice did a fantastic job. It doesn't hit the right feels without the genuine voice acting. The english voices are lame without any effort and emphasis or emotion. Much of the emotions are lost. More so because in the upcoming episodes, the voice acting would be crucial.
I am very excited for these guys to witness the greatest 10-12 episode run in anime history. The hype train continues! This is a genuine question as I might have missed the video where they explain it, but does anyone know why they choose to go DUB? The Japanese VAs give a level of honesty that American VAs just can't do sometimes (American VAs are also great in many situations). Example here being Nanami's VA in the SUB makes you feel the hatred & anger behind his words, whereas here I'm sorry it just felt lacking in every way. If that's what the crew just wants I respect their decision & will no doubt continue watching, I'm just afraid just like this reaction, the hype moments or emotional moments may not hit the same.

All dubbing is bad by default, this is just the lower end of bad. Being neutral on dubbing is insane.

Kenjiro Tsuda is like an S Tier voice actor, pretty hard for the English dub voice (or any dub voice really) to top or even come close to him tbf.

They preferred dub and it’s easier for them when they are taking notes. And don’t you think that’s a Little disrespectful to the English voice actors?
