African Grey Parrots (Apollo's Species) are among the most intelligent of parrots, which have even surpassed cognitive intelligence tests made by Harvard University. In fact, they rival chimpanzees and other great apes with their ability to reason and perform cognitive tasks. You might not be able to teach the entire language to a parrot, and they may not be able to make out abstract meanings, but they definitely understand the words enough to use them to communicate with their caretakers just as apes do with sign language.

I love how he asks for the names of objects he doesn't immediately recognize and he really wants to know what it is. That's so cool!
He's not quite sure about the concept of plastic though, that's funny because it's not an organic substance and it has a difficult to pronounce name. smart bird.

Wish he would say glassk more. I know it goes against his training, but it’s so cute. He’s such a lovely boy.

Apollo videos are the best because he’s so smart and polite. You can tell the owner works with Apollo.

One of the things I love most about Apollo is that you can tell, by the way he talks to himself that he really internalizes everything that you teach him. That earning a Pistash is more than a game to him, that through language you're giving him the tools he needs to explore and describe the world around him. He's just astoundingly smart, it's clear that he listens to the people in the house and picks up on every word you guys say. And it sounds like he understands a good number of them, too, even just from context. He's an incredibly curious and inquisitive bird, but it's also very clear that he has a sweet goofy side. Can't wait to see what 2023 brings! 𝙎𝙃𝙍𝙊𝘾𝙆

He has an amazing vocabulary which I’m sure took an extreme amount of work and patience on your part as well as his. The most amazing thing about Apollo to me is that he has a sense of humor. What an awesome little fellow he is. 💕🐦

5:10 This in my opinion is a great display of Apollo’s intelligence, asking what the item was and then saying « this is color » because indeed, a flashlight is something that gives items colors
