I love how proud Mickey is when rocky says he ain’t going down again.
My man tears came out.
I liked the part where Mickey started praying for Rocky to get up after being knocked down again.
The old penguin voice came out “that ah boy”
@@ojdajuiceman7870 great analogy. I almost forgot he played the part of penguin
And also the way how he gets to describe and motivate Rocky by comparing him with a Tank.
R.I.P Carl Weathers, our Apollo!!
Rest in peace to the two managers of Apollo and Rocky. Thank you burgess meredith and tony burton for their work in the Rocky movies.
What can I say the kid is Good but he's not better then....God.😂
And now Apollo has passed on. Nothing but legends, here
I never really thought anyone could equal Mickey, but l think Tony Burton eventually became an even greater character in the saga.
@@davidtatro7457Tony Burton really shined in Rocky 4
Micky's pep talks are next-level stuff.
"You're a tank, kid! Go thru him! Run over him!"
Carl Weathers made this move. He was in absolutely great shape here and his footwork was outstanding. Just watching their movement and punching power, you can see that in real life Carl Weathers would have annihilated Stallone. He moved better, punched harder, and punched faster.
Yeah he probably could be heavyweight champ nowadays for real
@@walterseverin1520 lol no
@@dr.loomis4221 nowadays yeah they’re a bunch of jokes who can’t hold a belt for more than two years
Carl Weathers was so good at portraying a boxer. Arguably far better than Stallone. He really did make this movie!
Bullshit. This is fight choreography all done by Stallone himself. Stop hero worshiping Apollo. Ever since creed came out you’ve all been trying to make Apollo out to be more than he was. You can also very CLEARLY see in Rocky 3 and 4 how hard Stallone hits by his body mechanics and technique when he throws. 100% he hits a lot harder than Carl ever could.
As great as these films were, it's still hard to believe how silly it is for any fighter to block every punch with their face.
Can you believe they spent few month creating this final fight and 8 month after to put all pieces together!
Totally agree. NO referee worth his salt would allow such an inhuman beating where one fighter is taking 80 plus direct, unblocked punches to his face and skull. And this is 3 minutes of every single round until the final minute of a 15 round bout. NO fighter in history since the inception of 15 rounds could survive a beating like this without it being stopped by the referee or being knocked out cold.
Might I introduce you to Rocky Marciano?
You must not know who Marvin Hagler was 😂
I Kno but I still love it
5:17: I found out that Rocky and Apollo taunting each other after the end of the second round, was actually partially Sylvester Stallone and Carl Weathers actually being angry at one another and did not have to do much acting.
This was because they had been rehearsing the fight very carefully with everything planned out so that little to no actual contact was made in the filming of the fight, but Carl Weathers had accidentally landed several blows on Stallone that were supposed to miss and the whole production ended going off track because of this error. When in reality this sort of thing should always be expected.
Stallone then revealed he liked the reaction the scene produced so he decided to keep it in
I was looking for this comment cause I just heard the same thing lol. Now that I re watch it, u can tell that Sylvester looked genuinely pissed haha
I love the differences in the trainers. Apollos trainer is saying “the switching didn’t bother you? Then you should have had him. Be careful this man is dangerous”. While Mickey just keeps saying “You can’t be hurt. You’re a tank. You can’t be hurt”. Apollos trainer planting seeds of doubt while Mickey pushing his Rocky telling him “he’s only a man. You’re a tank. A greasy fast 200lbs Italian tank. Go through him. Run over him “
Ok but you gotta give Apollo some points for his boastfulness.
"This man is dangerous? I'm the man, I'm dangerous!"
Apollo actually treated the fight seriously and was giving it his all. He trained and prepared to win this time
Ironic....that Apollo's trainer shouted to Rocky (after drawing blood against Drago) that he's not a machine...he's a man.
It is quite simple to be a good coach) All you have to do saying you're simply the best la la la))..
but Apollos coach was right. Creed could only use that fight if he underestimated his opponent and at the end he lost it cause he wanted to force the KO. If he would have listen to his coach he would have won by points.
Duke was only telling Apollo what he needed to hear. Apollo took Rocky to lightly. Duke wanted him to stop playing with him and focus on finishing him
I love how rocky just lets his opponent throw 100 punches before he even swings once 😂😅
The greatest tactic)
Just like Homer Simpson when he was a professional boxer.
It’s called the dope-a-dope
He blocks punches with his head
@@Thunder97616 Not all the time though, he started using more blocking/evasion techniques in the later films.
Rocky facial expression when Creed told him he was goin down😂
04:00
the greatest suckerpunch of alltime
Anyone got teary eyed when he says “I ain’t goin’ down no more” and Mickey being proud of him? …When you hit rock bottom, you’ve had enough with the nonsense. No more excuses.
Oh God that word alone change my life . Start new business and I told myself I’m not going Down 👊
@@robm2707 “Atta’ boy. Go get em’.” (music starts).
RIP Legend. You will be missed❤
I love how Apollo’s demeanor in this match is the exact opposite of the first!
As a psychology student I love how the corner men differ between rounds...Apollos is negative whereas the fighter is confident and Rocky is negative but Micky gives him a boost...awesome stuff from Stallone
Rather fascinating how Apollos demeanor is negative throughout the film, as opposed to the first film where he’s rather passive and good-natured. It wasn’t Rocky’s fault, he was merely trying the best he could as a competitor, which Apollo could surely understand, being a fighter himself.
But they're also each telling the fighter what they need to hear. Apollo already believes in himself fully, and he doesn't need a boost in confidence. He has the opposite problem: hubris. His second is trying to warn him to take his opponent more seriously and do what it takes to win rather than worry about showing him up, and he's _right._
Remember: if Apollo had listened to his second, he would have won.
@@n0wheregrrlvery true. Apollo should’ve boxed smarter particularly on the last round, where he had made enough points to win a comfortable decision, should’ve just stayed away like his trainer told him to and just survive th last round
Duke know how arrogant and with how snob eye apollo still watvh and thinking about rocky ability, and he knows very good how apollo driven from full angry blow to prove to all others he not sell his first match(anger put fog on mind and do wrong choises) and 3)duke know well what a problem rocky can do and bring to apollo,as manager(older and see things in his career) when he tell apollo: you hit him and still come to you, meand : this damage, hits, full distance rounds fighter are not just lucky.
3:19 Mickey’s line on Rocky 6. Legendary
"I'ma tank... I'ma get him"
4:00 Apollo was the best boxer in the entire franchise. Other than the heart to stay in the fight, Rocky had no business ever beating Apollo.
Agreed! Apollo had it won, it was only his pride that lost him this match
Sets up the premise of the third movie perfect too. With Mickey prolonging his champ career with hasbeen fights, fearing anymore damage on Rocky would kill him. The miracle wasn’t Rocky beating Apollo. The miracle was rocky surviving. Both fights should’ve killed him. It only took Apollo training Rocky to be a more advanced boxer.
Rocky also was fighting right-handed for the first 14 rounds even though he's left-handed
@Los Pollos Hermanos Corporation No, Apollo was the best boxer. Look up his record, 47 wins and 2 losses. The only two losses is from Drago and Rocky. Also we were never able to see Apollo in his prime, because in Rocky (1976), he was not in his prime. So imagine him in his prime days, with his record in mind.
Prime Apollo definitely defeats Prime Rocky. Thing is, Apollo was leaving his prime and Rocky was just entering it in Rocky II.
Rest in Peace Carl Weathers. ☹
At the 5:16 mark Sylvester Stallone and Carl Weathers were actually jawing at each other because the last of Carl's punches was not scripted, he actually made contact with Sylvester's jaw and what we see in the film is both actors out of character yelling at each other. Stallone later said he liked how it looked when he was editing the film and decided to include the sequence in the final cut.

4:00 Get ya cameras ready! Watch dis😂Here it comes🥊
This man is dangerous. I'm dangerous! We would hear this again many years later(Rocky and Adonis).
Rocky wasn't in creed 3 to support Adonis.
4:03 he warned Rocky and the crowd lmao
He tried to make good on his promise for a 2nd round KO
Two totally different styles, I love it. Apollo - technical & precise. Rocky - brawler & brute strength.
Apollo Creed was modeled after Mohammed Ali and a bit of Ken Norton Sr. Rocky was modeled losely on Joe Fraizer....
@@christophersermeno8631LOL no Rocky was modeled to Chuck Wepner.
Apollo Creed will soon realize Rocky has Super human endurance to handle such a brutal beating,, and the script sais rocky needs to win!
It's like Mick said in Rocky III: "Because the beating that you got... from Apollo, it should've killed you kid. It didn't"
it's not the script it's a strategy
@@InfiniteMind9 blocking punches with your head isn’t really a strategy
This man’s durability is like no other
@@rooneyjosuehernandezvillan4213 it was Apollo who gave rocky balboa brain damage. Ivan drago only made thing worse and g made the symptoms of CTE come sooner rather than later😂😂
R.I.P Carl Weathers ❤
Chubs was the man.
THIS Apollo would beat Drago
Maybe
I preferred his fighting styles in rocky 2 though I preferred his character development in rocky 3
No tf he wouldn’t 😂😂 so by this logic Rocky 2 Rocky would beat him too? Or give him a hard time?
I don't think so unless noboby gave Drago steroids. At least he can live though.
Who knows, as long as creed doesn't let drago have the center of the ring and tire Drago out Apollo should be able to defeat Drago. But Drago with steroids just slaps apollo
Well done Apollo the first few rounds with that splendid jab 👏
It’s not real Walter
ItsMe you still watched it didn’t you?
G 5:03

Rocky 2 is my favorite of the franchise. I feel it’s almost better than the 1st film when it comes to the fight between Apollo and Rocky. The first film felt more like Rocky needed to prove he was worthy of fighting Apollo at all, this film made it clear Rocky was worthy of being the champion. And on top of that, it remained grounded as a drama as opposed to the later films. Rocky 6 was good but was more based on the George Foreman comeback story than the original which felt more like the Ali v Frazier matches.
Same here Rocky 2 is my favorite
Agreed my favourite
Rocky 2 was always my favorite and when the music score kicks in during this fight, its epic.
I love how rocky speaks
That punch at 4:05 always gets me XD
The disrespect tho lmao my favorite part from this fight.
501
Carl Weathers would’ve been a very good boxer in real life, his movement around the ring throwing that jab looks marvelous🔥
No man could be alive after such amount of punishment from apollo
After Rocky lived through the first two rounds you could sense that momentum might eventually turn but it took the entire fight for Rocky to win
Rest In Peace
Carl Weathers. :_
Rocky: He’s still upset. Mickey: Who Cares!😂
😂
5:15. When that music hits, goosebumps every time. Only eclipsed by Adrian's "Win."
This version of Apollo nobody beats all Apollo had to do was stay away he was up on all scorecards
The body! The body! You're a tank!!
I love these guys. This movie is eternally beautiful and inspiring.
The way Apollo winds his right hand and hits Rocky is like a a work of art!!!🥊
RIP Carl Weathers. 😢
R.I.P Carl Weathers

RIP, Apollo...
Carl Weathers movement and hand speed were crazy ❤❤
What incredible quality. How did you do this?
Carl Weather's looks thicker in this Rocky 2 movie compared to Rocky 1, in the first movie he looks 205 lbs and here he looks 225-230
He weighed in at 210 in the first movie and 220 in this one stallone weighed 190 in the first one and 202 in this one they both gained about 10 pounds
@@sethteeter1553Stallone was 178 in the first movie and 200 in this one
But you're right. He weighed 210 in the first Rocky and weighed 220 in this one. Stallone also gained weight from the first Rocky cause I think he went from 190 to 202lbs
This & the Drago match are the best Rocky matches.
RIP Carl Weathers 💔💔🕊️🕊️
Such wonderful music for this scene. Really adds to the drama. Well done.
I think Apollo was Rocky's toughest opponent, he mangled Rocky's face up pretty bad plus mickey did say "The beating you got from Apollo should've killed you"......
That’s because rocky 2 is not as fantastical as rocky 4, beasts like George foreman have been taken down by Ali , the boxer Apollo’s based on
you understahd perfectly what mick and apollo says about clubber at the third movie, you can literally see the animalistic movement in rocky as he puts apollo back in the corner just as clubber does to rocky on the first fight
I saw that and cloud not agree more. I always thought Stallone liked that enough to have Lang do that in the next movie.
You will be missed carl weathers😢
R.I.P. Apollo!!!!
RIP Carl Weathers / Apollo Creed❤
That switching to right handed thing was not a good idea.
Mate first let me say EXCELLENT Quality in this format. Thoroughly enjoy seeing the film in this pristine quality.
The second thing is I always liked the Rocky films and use them as inspiration when its time to hit the gym. Eye of the tiger is number one on my Playlist. However.... This particular fight with Apollo Creed is just unrealistic. There is no fighter EVER in the pro ranks who takes this kind of inhuman punishment and doesn't get knocked out or the referee doesn't call a halt to the bout due to the fighter being totally outclassed . These are 3 minute rounds. And over the course of 15 rounds Creed is averaging anywhere from 80 to 120 landed blows directly to Balboas head per round going by the pattern of punches landed by him in these shortened sequences for movie purposes rounds. Many of them power shots and combinations set up by STIFF jabs. Balboa offers virtually zero defense and is literally catching everything a determined elite level fighter with a point to make, weighing in excess of 225 pounds, is throwing. In just 3 rounds he's taken over 200 plus unblocked punches to his head with over half being power shots. This is severe head trauma and no referee worth his salt would allow this.
"C'MON, IM STANDING HERE!!!"
RIP Carl Weathers… you made the first 2 Rocky films work! Carl played his role like a real boxer utilizing footwork and technique which was dire for making Rocky’s win feel like an underdog overcoming the odds. You need a realistic portrayal of a boxer like Carl to make Rocky’s unrealistic style seem all the more impressive and believable. Sly really couldn’t box, but Carl clearly could, and that really benefited the film.
Also, Burgess Meredith was such a great choice for Rocky’s manager. He was great in The Twilight Zone, and great in Rocky. He deserves more credit than he gets.
If Apollo had been more focused and trained harder like he did in this movie, then he would had won against Rocky in the first movie even against drago
Rip Carl Weathers 😢
the way the announcer talked about the start of the second round with the lefts was so great
I love the quick shots of Paulie yelling beers in hand LOL
😂the way creed touches rocky's head is hilarious..hes may seem see rocky as an opponent that he can playing around with😂
This Apollo would give drago a run for his Money he was just to quick and a proper dancing destroyer
Also the fact that this Apollo didn't take a break from his training.
Creed by 4 was aged and deceived into an 'exhibition' with Drago. So he didn't train at all and treated the whole thing like a party :(
@@bearcattony00 He wanted to go into that exhibition to prove something. He couldn't deal with the fact that people weren't making a big deal about him, and they still kept Rocky's name in their mouths. Also the fact that the lecture he gave Rocky in III, he didn't take his own advice in IV.
True. The problem is we never got to see what a boxer Ivan really was without juicing.
@@SimplyThatGuy12 That's true too, if anything, they could've did flashbacks of Drago's training without the Steroids.
this is it mann!!!!
Thank you Carl 😢
This scene still gives me chills as much as it did the first time i saw it. Stallone really knows how to act and how to touch our hearts.

REST WELL MR CARL AKA APOLLO
Great to watch this again😊
I love this film but for Christ sake keep your guard up
Bruhhhh! That dual fuggin score that kicks off at 6:25 with the orchestra coming in over Going the Distance ... whhoooooo!
Apollo the legend
I miss old boxing when blocking wasn’t allowed.
I much prefer this boxing cause the matches are better to watching while real-life boxing is nothing but slapping and hugging.
Did Mickey not teach Rocky to protect himself?? Lol
Rocky! Quel courage il a quand même!
@1:07 if Rocky could’ve kept up that head movement/defense, it would’ve made it even harder for Creed
True, but creed is too fast for it.
I GO DOWN NO MORE , GOD what a great line .
Anyone ever notice in any of rockys fights no one hits the Italian stallions body. Just his head and jaw.. that's why his opponents lost they didn't mix it up with the best. Lol
True!!!! Rocky would tear ribs up
if you go to 5:45 you can see it still says round 1 when it's supposed to say round 4 just a cool little error
L' incontro che sintetizza la morale del film il senso della continuità mentre il coraggio di Apollo è surreale per dimostrare a tutto il mondo che la prima volta è stato truccato quello di Rochy è ruggente per dimostrare a tutto il mondo di essere continuativo
3:04 - Great acting by the late Tony Burton! Love how concerned he is for Apollo about the danger of Rocky.
Best fight scene from all the rocky movies, Carl could throw shots like a top level pro fighter
Wow now when I revisit these fight scenes I find it so amusing to see our old friend Rocky' has no defence to speak of !lol he doesn't even seem vaguely interested to block any punch! Simply hilarious!Adrian😂😂😂😂
how do u even boost the footage quality to 4k!!! I need to know!
if Carl Weathers told me im gong down........... im going down. RIP man. youre the best...................
"u ready to lay down" creed had so much swag 😂🦋
