This video (made by Volvo Cars US) shows Irv Gordon reaching 1 million miles with his Volvo P1800 in 1987 and reaching the 2 million miles record in 2002 (it was already an official Guinness Book of Records-record). Irv Gordon still has his 1800S running as a daily driver and already reached the 3 million miles this year. Volvo for Life! :)

I’m not that sad. Ford almost sucked the soul out of Volvo, making them into slightly better built Ford cars. At least the Chinese people have the sense to give Volvo full control over its newer creations. The Volvos built today are more Swedish than they ever were under Ford.
Volvo's classic quality standard of making unbreakable cars simply wouldn't compete these days - current car giants like VW, Renault, Fiat, GM and Ford destoyed and ate their competition by actually making shittier cars - their main profit is actually from selling parts. Current cars are designed by computers who simulate how to design car parts, so they wear out or break after a certain amount of time - usually when warranty expires. So yeah, thats probably the reason why Volvo had to sell out to VW, Ford and the chinese - cuz they actually made good cars that last, instead of ripping people off, and the market rewards those who rip people off instead by making them richer.
Yeah, to be honest geely, the company who owns volvo, uses volvo technology to make their car stronger, also they used volvos car prototype to make their car
